  1. Jones is young, coachable, passionate and has 100 games to his name already. He's 23. He's a keeper. People mark him hard becasue he doesnt have the excuse/extra time afforded to skinnier blokes. People around here are happy to stick with guys like Watts, Bennel, Strauss for years and years but want to trade a 23 year old showing consistant improvement
  2. The hamstring injury to Bull Tapscott is another blow to a team struggling for consistency in performance, and continuity on the team sheet. Although the injury list is starting to resemble something similar to a whos-who of the Demons playing group, this should allow more of the demons much hyped younger brigade to have a crack at senior level. The debut of young “pickles” Evans last week left me with a strange feeling. On one hand we have uncovered another promising young midfielder with a rookie selection, but on the other hand what type of a blight is it on the more senior players when an elevated rookie shows them up? Dean Bailey is in a difficult situation. The debut of Evans would have left him wondering whether there are others at Casey who may shine if given an opportunity on Friday night. He will however understand that blooding more youngsters and putting in admirable performances for defeats will not satisfy those still calling for his head. With a very difficult draw for the next month, Bailey will be wanting to show the footy viewing public that he can coach by creating an upset or two, and he will be no doubt struggling with the decision on whether injecting more of the enthusiasm of youth into an already young team is the right way to go about trying to achieving consistency from the playing group . Restless demons supporters have been patient for the last few years whilst the club rebuilt our list, but since the NAB cup its been clear that the rebuild is still a work in progress. There are many fans like myself who would be happy to continue to blood our youngsters so that we have a better idea of what they can or can’t do, but you get the feeling that Bailey may persevere with the older group for a while yet, if only in an attempt to save his own career. Carlton also rebuilt their list with top draft picks, but topped it off with the addition of a then Brownlow medallist and premiership captain, one C. Judd. Even with this depth of talent the Blues have been regarded as underachievers in recent years. It is only now, 3 years since the drafting of Kreuzer, and 5 years since drafting Murphy that the Blues are proving to be a real contender. Inpatient Demons fans should perhaps consider this when making assessments on when the Melbourne Football Club should reasonably expect to be in a similar position. This being said, not yet being a legitimate contender does not make the Demons exempt showing a bit of heart and coming out to play. With the prematch entertainment being a fundraising effort for cancer you cannot discount the influence that a pre match address given by Jimmy could have on the players, however i’m expecting an admirable loss, not dissimilar to the performance against last years runners-up last round. Blues by 23 points
  3. In: Blease Out: Tapscott (inj) reading the player review on the MFC site it seemd like the coaches were least happy with petterd?
  4. Getting rid of Moloney or Jones is a bad idea IMO. Last thing we need to do is get rid of more of our leaders/experience.
  5. Mclean wanted out, i dont see how the MFC should take any credit for the trade? Also, a fit brock Mclean would probably be getting a game for us at the moment
  6. SOme of the posts in here are a joke!! If a big fish from another club (im thinking like when Judd left west coast) is on the trade table then i think we need to make a play for them. Otherwise treat all offers on their merit. I cant see many of our players asking to be traded or any of the ones we might want to delist being worth anything? Our list is almost at the point where we need to give them continuity, not keep adding young players in the hope they'l lbe better than the current group
  7. Eagles were crap last year becasue Kerr & Glass were injured, Embley was out of form, Cox was carrying an injury and Lynch was out of favour (palying WAFL). Thats 5 prem players and unless im incorect they've all been AA too (maybe not lynch?) Also their players like Masten, Ebert, S. Selwood, Rosa, Nikoski & Butler (who until this year havent shown a great deal and many have been quick to write off) have improved significantly. These two factors combined with a well drilled press are the reasons they are looking the goods.
  8. IMO any player at AFL level should understand what is required of them. If the club need to bring in a set of rules to further teach them what they should allready know then we're a LONG way away from being 1/2 decent
  9. Hopefully we'll show some fight and take the points, but with our yo-yo form this year who knows Saints should win
  10. like the look of the side with Jordie and Evans having a run. Bate and Joel Mac are also good in's - reward for form at VFL level... Watts going to half back covers the loss of class & height from loosing garland/grimes also liek the look of tappy on the wing if its actually a true reflection on where he'll start
  11. Jurrah, McKensie....EVANS Our club can pick good rookies! Wish we got as lucky with our other picks?!
  12. FWIW i brough a jumper and had the #31 put on it the day after his press conference. Although he didnt put the situation to bed he did enough to get me pumped about his future in red/blue. If he doesnt sign then i'll just have to say i got #31 on my jumper becasue i was a big paul wheetley fan!
  13. i'll drink to that!
  14. Green doesn’t show much on field leadership when the chips are down, but there’s no doubt players would all respect him for his career to date & record at AFL level. That respect would surley be behind why he was given the captaincy. It’s easy to criticise the decision in hindsight, but there weren’t alot of other options. Beamer probably leads the most on the field, but im sure people on here would have been critical of any decision to give him the role based on his 2010 form. The young guys you mention are all in their 2-3rd year. Yes they are good players but it would have been a massive call to give anyone of them the gig at the start of the year. Out of the young guys you mentioned Grimes was probably the only plausible captaincy selection at the start of the year...
  15. i like the OP. I think these next four games are going to be tough, but we shouldnt just write them off. Our ability to kick a winning score relys on guys like sylvia and davey kicking goals. Also bringing back bate and Dunn being suspended will give us a better forward line structure
  16. i'd prefer to see happy on a half forward flank or wing... i think we may see that in a year or so's time?
  17. agreed! Jetta, Bennell & Aussie get lumped in the same catogory jurst becasue they are all short and Indigenous! All 3 are very different, and IMO Jetta's pressure and tackling ability make him the most valuable to us in current form.
  18. Trengove, Scully, Jordie Mac for Jetta, Bennel, & Wona?
  19. great pick up! should be plenty of highlights I've always wondered if there was a spot for all of them in the line up, seems there is! I'm guessing one of them will be the sub
  20. air jurrah in the change rooms!!! Make a "perfect Tackle" Trengove shirt and i'll buy one!!
  21. the system has failed us! Trengove will be long remembered as the unluckiest bloke to be screwed by the AFL
  22. really looking forward to the selection. Hope we go with Gawn with stef and/or Juice as back ups.
