  1. happy with the changes, bring on the game on sunday!
  2. are you serious? The club, especially Bailey have come out and said that this year they dont want to use the development excuse this year. I realise as much as the next avid fan that we're not a collingwood/hawthorn yet but after playing the kids for the last few seasons i think even the club would start to question where we might be headed if we lost to brisbane & gold coast in 2 weeks. If we loose against the lions and gold coast then were saying one of the following things; - Our "young talet" isnt as good as their young talent (which IMO is not the case) - Our players arent as hungry as their players (Jury still out) - Our tactics arent as good as their tactics (Jury still out)
  3. You'd be welcome mate, although the Eagles have won 2/2 and all of a sudden you'd think they were a chance at the flag if you listened to their fans (who have recently come back out of the woodwork!)
  4. Hale would have been a bit of a waste of time, but warnock would have been alligned with our grand plans. He's young and would have been able to take over from Jamar in 4-5 years time?
  5. if we loose i think there will be heat on bailey & his future...big time heat. Same goes for the Gold Coast game. Lions without JB, Staker & Drummond (not to mention Rischetelli & Brennan) are a far inferior proposition than with them. Basically it leaves them with relitivley inexperienced youngsters and a handfull of longer term players. If we loose it shows that Voss has got his less fancied talent to preform better than bailey who has an abundacne of top picks. Gold Coast are all young, with a handfull of stars. If we loose or the watts/trengoves/bennels are shown up by their younger players then it would show that our players havent developed in the last few years - which would be worrying too
  6. i thought it was quite a glib article. I think the articles on the higher picks will be more interesting to be honest, becasue we basically know the stories behind our top picks anyway. As for the draft i dont think we've done badly by taking Watts, we needed a young forward and he was arguably the best available. Rich is a gun, but no more than most other top 10 midfielders, and Nic Nat is one of those players who i think will still have a novelty factor after 5 seasons. Steven Hill is probably showing the most upside of all of them at the moment, but as we allready have Davey i dont think he would have been given the same role in our side as where he plays for freo?
  7. i think Jettas upside is his defensive pressure and attack on the man/ball Wish some of the other guys would start to show a bit of this more often too.
  8. Best post in this thread. Hindsight is always 20 - 20.... Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda, but didnt....
  9. i dont think JB is marking the ball in all of those photos....
  10. nice one mate. Along similar lines to your thread. I guess i agree - these days we all talk about stats and the latest fads in style & game plan, but really it comes down to some teams being better than the others, and i agree that skill & desire to work hard for team mates are probably the two biggest aspects of why the best teams are better than the others
  11. Dunn & Petterd both need to lift IMO, but i'd be happy enough to see Newton come in at Maric's expense. Gysberts for Jetta. Petterd can go back to sub...
  12. You just made a fool of yourself mate. I agree with Old Dee to a extent about Wona being hyped up, but regardless of opinions, you dont get on your high horse and go off on a tangent, ranting at someone like over a comment posted on the internet!
  13. yep my thoughts exactly Plus Dunn, Watts and Jurrah need a kick in the arse. Watts & Jurrah are protected spiecies, neither are likley to be dropped IMO, but we need more from both of them. Dunn is almost in that experienced player catogory, so cant just relax on the back of a decent few games in 2010
  14. i dont have a problem with newton coming in for dunn to play at CHF. Gysberts for Jones, or maybe jetta or maric depending on whetehr the FD want to bring back Wona just yet
  15. yeah Shuey's numbers were very good. I feel its a matter on when not if for tappy
  16. publically slaying the blokes would serve no purpose. Im sure those who need a rocket will get one, but behind closed doors. I'll start to worry if we loose to a Brisbane side with no Brown, Rischetelli, Brennan etc. But i am not loosing my hair over a bad loss to the Hawks
  17. there are some pretty outrageous comments in this thread, but as the title is "vent your spleen" i guess these types of comments asking to be made I honestly dont see why everyone is acting like yesterday was the end of the world. Our preseason form confirmed that we are still a young, inconsistant team but one with alot of promise. The way the lads played in the 2nd half was dissapointing, but at the end of the day, it is one game. I feel sorry for all of those who are expecting us to beat the Pies this year on the back of 2 close games last season...
  18. In: Gysberts, Morton, Newton or Bate Out: Jones, Maric, Jetta Jones goes out because he needs to realise that he isnt a automatic selection. Gysberts in becasue he will be a gun one day, and should be given as much oppertunity as we can give him Morton in & Newton (or Bate) come in to give our forward line some level of potency. Jurrah & Watts are talents but neither are power forwards to shape a forwardline around. Dunn and Petterd are decent but neither are a focal point just yet. Lions have some injuries to their big men at both ends of the ground. Morton and Newton could both swing forward / back if required. Jetta and Maric out becasue we need these types of players to kick goals or find the footy. At the moment These guys & even Bennell do neither
  19. We all knew this year was going to be another development year. I'd hope that we dont get smashed like that too many more times, but im sure this wont be our worst loss all year! No doubt that we have some players with question marks over their heads about their futures, but i dont think there are many guys who played for Casey who i'd be rushing back in. Though I would like Gysberts to be treated like a Jack "protected spieces" Watts and be picked every week for development purposes.
  20. Harsh but probably fair, some classic lines in there for sure
  21. i think we'll win 2 out of 5 The only team that we should beat easily is Gold Coast. I hope we also beat Brisbane this week, which without JB & staker should be no problem. I'd like to see us beat the eagles, i'll be there cheering for us, but they'll be full of confidence after beating some weaker teams in rounds 1 & 2. Adelade & North could be wins, but i am not confident enough to lock them in. I rate adelaide, and north are about on par with us. Just depends if we show up to play?!
  22. i noticed that early our blokes were almost too ferocious with the tackles - to the point that they were ending up in the back or over the shoulder of the swans players and giving away free kicks
  23. He playes his role very well. I cant see him being pushed out in the next few years and he'll probably get better with time too I'd prefer reliable backmen than flashy ones who try to be too fancy in our defensive 50
