  1. The efc players deserved their penalty. One for taking peds. Naive - maybe. But that is neither here nor there. Do the crime and do the time. Take responsibilty. And two by componding that stupid decision by not taking a deal early, pleading guilty and missing only 3 months and perhaps as few as 3 games like the cronulla players. I dont buy them getting any slack for taking the peds based on just doing what they were told by the club. But even if i did they cant blame the club for not taking the deal. They made that stupid decision all by themselves and more fool them if they took advice on that matter from the very people who got them into the mess in the first place. But they have served their penalty and i have no issue with any of them. Looking forward to having the melk run around for us. Its like gaving a brand new recruit.
  2. From the titter account of AFL trade news first (thanks dee-licisous): AFL Trade News First‏@AFLTrade Melbourne and St Kilda are showing interest in Adelaide's Jarryd Lyons. #AFLTrade #MELB #STK #ADEL
  3. No he doesn't. He has a contract for 2017. He has every right to wait as long as he wants to make a decision (well at least until latish next year when his contract expires) - even if that annoys DL posters.
  4. We have had a number of posters on DL confirming his Dad is very sick, Pennant St Dee being one and i've never sen anyone question his credibility (and nor would i). To be frank i'm amazed at the tone of some of the comments surrounding Hogan, particularly those that are clearly skeptical of his motives and those demanding he make a call. For Pete's sake give the kid a break
  5. I reckon players who are moving clubs place likely success at the top of their list what clubs are a destination club. To that end i'd have Dogs in that top group and sainst and Dees in the second.
  6. I don't see how his managers comments change anything. We know his Dad is crook and we know that because of this he is quite understandably thinking he might have to return home to be with his family and provide support. So of course he's gone home and needs to see 'where his head space is at'. I really feel for him. He is a young fella who loves his family but also clearly loves the dees and his team mates and would be busting to be part of what we are building towards. Tonight's effort by the doggies and the obvious bond between those players will further reinforce this desire. If he goes back to WA it will be to freo or perhaps WC. Both clubs have problems i reckon. WC have shown a brittleness in the last two finals series and i don't think have the cattle (or perhaps culture) to win a flag in the next few years and Freo is miles off. And at Freo he would have Ross ' my way or the highway' Lyon as coach - a coach that burns out his players and would hardly be a dream coach for a key forward with is low scoring game plan. And neither club will pay much more than we would. But the pull of family at a difficult time is powerful. I don't envy his choice.
  7. He would fit in well on dl with that approach
  8. Even though it aligns with GNF's last post on this matter?
  9. Agree. I'd add that it is a big bonus Hibberd being a left foot kick, and along one at that
  10. The importance of this should not be be underrated. In normal circumstances when a new coach takes over there is always a big song and dance as the club looks to brand the coach on the club and sell him to the fans who are looking for progression and hop. Of course the players also have to get used a new coach. Neither of these issues apply to us, which is terrific.
  11. I 100% disagree. If Hogan needs to go back to WA this year the dees would jump at Fyfe if that was an option and i for one would be well pleased with that deal. Fyfe is exactly what we lack - a true A grade mid fielder (note Viney will become one and i suspect Oliver will also and perhaps also Brayshaw). Yes he is coming of serious injury but Fyfe is as good as Dangerfield. As if we wouldn't take him. The FA stuff is a furphy as one there is no guarantee that he would come to us and two if we lose hogan we would want Fyfe in next years team helping us make finals. All that aside i really hope Hogan stays.
  12. I see what you did their - there no quite theyre
  13. Disagree. I reckon he would be dead keen to come to the dees. We are closer to a flag than Freo. In fact it is a perfect time to come to the dees - we are on the rise and he could play a part in that rise. And with our list and solid of field governance (who would have thought i'd ever be able to say that?) we are well set up for long term success. We have a game plan that suits his style. We are stable in terms of coaching etc and as i've said previously i suspect Fyfe would enjoy the approach and style of Goodwin. I reckon of the Victorian clubs the bullies would be the only other club he would be keen on.
  14. I cant see how chooks information contradicts anything gnf has said
  15. Perhaps they have been playing the long game
  16. This sort of tosh shits me, even in jest. Wishing someone ill only reflects very poorly on the holder of such moronic views
  17. Im probably in the minority but i think its great gws are succesful and i wouldnt give a fig if they win the flag this year. In fact id be pleased to be honest. Once the afl decided to go down the 2nd side in sydney road they had to make it work - and not just in the short term but the long term as well. Fitzpatrick said on saturday the goal was to make afl the leading sport in nsw within the next 30 years. Hugely ambititious. For that occur both syd teams have to be succesful. My issue with the gws decision was the risk of thinning out the talent pool. Two succesful sydney teams will be critical in terms of influencing talented athletes to switch to afl. The other thing is that i live watching gws play. Thrilling stuff. Brilliant skills, fast ball movement and brutal contests. Exactly how we are looking to play. I hope they win the next two and we knock them off when going for the threepeat
  18. Not sure that is the case LF. Somewhere on DL I read a post that said the end of season interviews will be held after Casey finish.
  19. I would jump at Wells. Getting him on the park would be a challenge but when fit is an absolute A grader. He is exactly the sort of player we need as we only have Salem and Watts who are elite kicks and two such players is simply not not enough. We also lack pure outside players. I would consider Del Santo for the same reason but for mine he is a little slow and if there is one thing we are not short of its slow players. If we are to push towards finals next year Well is the sort of player we need.
  20. Good post. Further to that the use of PEDs don't just benefit athletes in the period they are using them. I don't understand the science but i have read a number of times that athletes often get a lifetime benefit from using PEDs. it is one the reasons there is so much angst towards people such as Gatlin. A quick google found this article, http://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-24730151 The research is about steroid use but i'm sure i have read similar stuff about PEDs
  21. Dont get me wrong my very strong preference is to keep hogan. I cant believe how many dl posters seem to be cooling on him. He is a gun. Will be one of the best forwards of the modern era and if he stays with us a melbourne legend
  22. Im not sure why people are so quick to dismiss this. If hogan was to go to perth this year then in some ways this trade makes good sense. Pav has retired and hogan would be the perfect replacement. With luck with injuries he has another 10 years of top shelf footy. And we need a true a grade mid badlly and i suspecy fyfe would be positive about where were at and goodwin's style. As brilliant as fyfe is there is a big chance he will leave after his contract ends at tbe end of 2017. This has been openly discussed. He is 24 so has left footy left and of most significance he is coming off two very serious injuries. Who knows if he will get back to his best. Finally the timing lines up for both clubs in terms of when both players contrats end. That's to say both clubs will have far less leverage in the market if both players are out of contract.
