  1. Not sure about Harmes and Salem in terms of outside run. Both a bit slow i reckon and Harmes' kicking a worry. I reckon Salem an inside mid and Harmes a half forward flanker is the go.
  2. 100% agree Red. I actually am not fussed about the Lions getting a priority pick but the arguments put forward as to why we didn't get one and it is ok for Brisbane to get one infuriate me. Chief among them is the argument we actually got a a PP in the form of Frawley. Mods please turn the filter off for a second - that is complete bull [censored]. I heard Sam McClure run this argument and it drives me nuts. As you say red that was the rule and it was designed to compensate bottom teams from being decimated by free agency (as an aside Sam McClure has become my most disliked media person. He has morphed from a gossip into someone who seems to have license to give editorials - i'm no Gen Y basher but he simply does not have the runs on the board to be credible, not to mention he is so often wrong and infuriatingly smug, can't stand his father either by the by). The other argument that we got PJ and money for Paul Roos is similarly rubbish. As you point out all clubs get financial assistance from the AFL. And it is their interest all clubs are solvent as they have a billion dollar TV deal that is dependent on 18 teams. But in any case the AFL have installed Fagan and Noble so they have received the same assistance we have. The other issue is that an argument for us not getting a PP was that were the architects of our own demise. And Brisbane haven't been? Sheesh. They are 30 odd millions in debt. Their board is in disarray. They have just sacked in their second coach in the the last 3 years or so (with Voss getting the axe because they apparently thought they had Roos). Their culture obviously sucks. They can't retain players. They've brought in duds. And under Voss they traded away their picks for players like fevola thinking they might snag a flag. All this after having won three flags a decade ago. Beggars bloody belief. And don't get me started on us not getting a PP as punishment for tanking.
  3. Agree. As you say both the Melk and Hibberd strenthen our list consdierabley. Perhaps not at the top end but as is often said it it is about a club's bottom 6 as much as their top six. Which is one reason i think the Hawks fell away in the last part of the season amd will likley struggle next yeay (i hope). They also really help the age profile of the list giving us a couple more quality mid twenty players (with 100 odd AFL games and 7-8 pre seasons under their bel) to help even out the list.
  4. I think part of our deal with Hogan was to help him get his bus liscense so he can drive Contiki buses through Europe from the end of the 2019 season. That and paying for Spanish lessons.
  5. You have to laugh: AFL Trade Whisperer ‏@AFLTradeWhisper 56m56 minutes ago It's a new era here at the #whisperer No more Mr. Nice Guy. I'll be bringing strong opinions, along with breaking huge news. #AFLTrades
  6. Agree, on both counts. We have considerable leverage in this deal. Whilst it would be up to Hibberd to go down the breach of duty of care path surely he might be tempted to if EFC play hard ball and make it difficult to get to the club he has nominated. EFC have done well to get so many of their banned players back and Wooosha has helped repair the damage to their brand. The optics of making things difficult for Hibberd would not be good and would threaten the gains they have made in terms of their reputation, particualry becasue pick 26 looks more than fair given it lines up with the price we paid for melksahm (though perhaps Micha is correct and we don't to give them the 26 and that is s sticking point - though i thought mahoney had flagged 26 was about right)
  7. Ive heard similar sentiments expressed about jesus. Maybe rpfc should change his name to ripjc
  8. Fair dinkum this guy is a [censored]: Pinned Tweet AFL Trade Whisperer ‏@AFLTradeWhisper 2h2 hours ago We broke the Martin free agent story. We gave you the inside word on the Hogan conflict. Today, the truth about Rockliff.
  9. He/she sounds a right wacker. Claiming he broke the real reason for hogans 'dramatically reduced contract'. Also loves to flame other twitter sites whilst loudly blowing own trumpet
  10. My contact told me hogan would only commit to 2019 because there was no guarentee watts would be there after that.
  11. I disagree. But it is the very defintion of a moot point
  12. I wondered the same thing? Well almost. I thought it might be Bernie
  13. Your 'contact' doesn't seem to like providing useful information. I mean given he is contracted for next year and Goodwin has made it clear they won't be looking to trade this year it is harldy news Hogan 'will be playing for MFC next year'. As for being more than confident about getting a signature this week could your 'contact' be any less equivacol? By the by if they announce his signing this week you can be sure the deal was done last week or even earlier making your 'contact' at best out of the loop, at worst?
  14. Good not agree more Redleg. Not only are some posters angry with Hogan some are also personally attacking him. Beggars belief.
  15. Afl trade whisperer (see page 1 of this thread for link) reporting he has good intel freo have offered patton and pick 7 for fyfe. If true surely that means hogan is off the table for freo
  16. Agree to an extent. However they made a powerful statement. To any other young gun who wants out, to the rest of the team and the other clubs. They did not blink. Easier to do with the truck load of talent they have, but still. Ill bet he regrets his decision now
  17. That may well be true. But at least gnf has learnt the art of brevity
  18. I did. Though not shocked he didn't.
  19. Im not convinced that is true actually. It is very rare a player leaving a club is not preemted by rumours, partic high profile players.
  20. I imagine PD would consider himself the exception that proves the rule.
  21. Totally agree. Two of my favorite dees players. They were both great movers and read the game brilliantly. Class. Both would be perfect for footy circa 2016 with their athleticism and run.
  22. Good lord flamingdees is it possible to post any more comments in this thread? That's a rhetoric question by the way. As a troll I like your gentle style - far nicer than braysure. But you've laid the groundwork, for heaven's sake it's time land the fish.
