i know i am repeating myself but Jack is only 'gone' if he agrees to a trade or they elect to pay out his contract (which would be included in our salary cap). He has a contract for at least next year and perhaps even 2019. If he is interested in going it would only be to a team with a realistic chance of winning a flag in the next 2-3 years. Which outside of us leaves the Crows, Tigers, GWS and Swans (the cats are gone). Yes they could threaten to play him in the VFL if he refuses to agree to a trade. But i very much doubt they would make that threat, let alone carry it out. And those that think he is a lazy footballer who loves the party lifestyle would probably think he would take them up on the offer anyway. So Watts stays unless a trade involves him going to the Crows, Tigers, GWS or Swans.

Stringer?

When Stringer is officially traded I am looking forward to this headline (remember you saw it here first - unless it has already been used!) DOG GONE

Oh i thought it referred to the year judd won the norm smith medal....

Agree. Very much a goody style player. A very consistent player. Good mark and good kick. I think he is a little slow though, which isnt an issue in of itself but we have a surfeit of slow players.
-
Absolutely. A buyers market. For Sale: second hand forward with only one previous owner. Low kms on thw clock. Works. Most of tbe time. End of 1st round draft pick ono

Thanks PSD. Interesting comment about the focus on elite end talent. I think it is similar here to an extent with the investment in and focus on the TAC cup. That said underneath the VFL we have some pretty strong comps and rookies coming through the VFL and even lower comps are making their mark across the AFL so perhaps the WC and frea are pulling the wrong rein. Interesting that Sydney have a number of players that came up through the NEAFL. Rampe being one (he also played in the VFL). I don't have any sense of how strong that league is. Can some of the erstwhile Sydney demonlanders comment? Hardtack?
-
I really appreciate your insight of wa players psd. In fact demonland has a number of really switched on wa based dees fans. Do you have a sense of how the wafl compares to the vfl in terms of relative strength. 30 years ago the wafl and sanfl churned out afl ready players. Is it my imagination that has reduced (note to potential dl pedants i now the landscape is different and i deliberately picked a post afl time frame)?

I want the dees to rookie. And when he plays his first game start him on rhe bench to build anticipation. And when goody sends down tbe order to put him on i want to hear macca break into song and sing with gusto: 'I'm putting on the Fritsch!!!'

Bollocks. You use the exception to prove the rule in terms of their performance over tbe season. But prove the rule by noting they went 0-6. Becuause of injury. If not the single biggest deteminant of success, close to it.

Wasn't meaning to be rude JDM. Apologies if it that is how i came across. Insert deity was not a shot at you. I meant that watts is unlikely to leave a team that (please god) should make finals. As in please god let us make finals. It is up to jack. He has a contract. And quite a big one at that. If the club don't want him they could threaten him he will play VFL all season but really that would be a hollow threat or at the least one that Watts could call them on. Lets say he did call them on it. Do the club dig in and play a player with his class, not to mention the skill we so badly lack -elite kicking skills - in the magoos. And pay him 700k? i don't think so. Though you could argue the Pies have with mayne. but where has that got them?
-
Please JDM. He. Can't. Be. Traded. Unless. He. Wants. Out. He. Is. A. Contracted. Player. Sure. They. Could. Threaten. Him. To. Play. VFL. But. That. Would. be. Silly. By. The. By. He. loves. the Dees.
-
Rubbish. If JW wanted to leave the dees he would have considerable trade value.
-
Can you please explain to me why Watts would want to leave a team that (please - insert deity) should make finals for one that is miles off. A penchant for playing for teams near the bottom of the ladder? A love of navy blue?
-
That's all well and good. But where does Prodee fit in?
-
It might be a better storyline. As far as a nemisis goes steve is more dr evil than dr no
-
I want rhe dees to rookie him. And if he gets injured i want to hear mison crack a joke and say 'he's on the fritsch'
-
39th on the clanger list? I wonder if that is because he hanballs so often. He's actually a really good kick. Good technique. Agree with the owl that we need more penetrating kicks from our mids. Oliver has pretty good penetration who knows how to kick to advantage

That is your response? Sheesh.

You have a serious comprehension issue steve. I never said tyson isn't that bad with ball in hand and i made clear Martin and Danger get more attention. I would have thought that was evident by this comment i made in the post you quoted: 'Which of course is not to say he is a better kick. Tyson rarely has a hard tag' And for you to make a comment about confirmation bias is laughable in its hypocrisy and shows you have very little insight into your own posting. By the by define 'nowhere near' the same disposal numbers. Here are some of the Tyson (on the left) v Martin averages for their career. The table below is Tyson v Dangerfield average disposals over their career. Again Tyson is on the left. This season both danger and martin are averaging a touch under 5 more disposals a game, which is hardly nowhere near. But Tyson had an injury interrupted season and career averages are a much more accurate way to compare players, assuming both have played at least say 5 seasons. Source: https://www.footywire.com/ Unless your comprehension again fails you as you can see from the tables my comment that 'i suspect that in fact Tyson's disposal numbers would be very similar to martin and danger' was correct as was my assertion that their 'ratio of contested to uncontested possessions' were similar. The only thing i was incorrect about ironically enough was that Tyson's DE is 'no doubt not as good''. 22.8 Disposals Per Game 25.3 9.1 Contested Possessions Per Game 9.6 14.2 Uncontested Possessions Per Game 15.7 16.1 Effective Disposals Per Game 17.2 70.6% Disposal Efficiency % Per Game 68% 3.3 Clangers Per Game 3.8 22.8 Disposals Per Game 23.4

Well actually steve i suspect that in fact tysons disposal numbers would be very similar to martin and danger. Including his ratio of contested to uncontested possesions. So comparable positions. And therefore his clanger ratio is actuallt better than those two players. Which of course is not to say he is a better kick. Tyson rarely has a hard tag. And no doubt his de is not as good. But none the less it put his number of clangers into some perspective.
