  1. Because both get so many of their possessions under extreme pressure and both often have a hard tag. So whilst they have good technique they are still going to turn the ball over than say gaff who get so many of their possessions on the outside. Without having seen the clanger list i would be guessing that it is dominated by inside mids.
  2. its funny you should say that Macca. When he was drafted my recollection is that many on here said that in fact was his greatest attribute - ie a natural footballer who leads well, attacks the ball in the air and can take a good pack mark. this was seen to be mitigation against the fact he din't play much (any?) TAC because of his ankle injury
  3. Some good points. but in terms of our team we have way too many clangers - ie kicks under little pressure that miss their target. But those clangers are exacerbated by the fact that we have many players with poor technique and poor technique is exposed under pressure. Dom Tyson is a good example. A big part of his problem is that as an inside mid he is often kicking under pressure. He has a really poor technique, dropping it miles from his foot and under pressure this leads to turnovers. unfortunately Viney is not dissimilar. in fact i would say the majority of MFC players have poor technique. Compare him to Dusty Martin - or Selwood and Dangerfiled- who has a terrific technique and even under pressure usually executes.
  4. Could be picture of me in one of the several share houses i was in through my twenties and into my thirties
  5. But his talent and positive attributes are obvious........
  6. Nup
  7. Personally i liked my defenders to spoil the ball at least 36.2 metres. Kill that ball. Let it come back from the grave. Then kill it again. Now that's insane.
  8. If we askee nicely would they put him on ice?
  9. One last time. Watts. Is. Contracted. Trade can only happen if he wants it to happen. So he 'cant be put on the table'. The only leverage the club has is threatening to play him in the vfl. This might work with say spencer who is likely to play vfl anyway and might want more opportunity. But with a player of watts' talent it is a bit cutting off your nose to spite your faceish. A player on the other hand - if contracted and wanting out - can threaten not to try. Which no club wants.
  10. Ugh
  11. With the finals now here the funk has well and truly returned. Round 1 2018 seems a very long time away
  12. I 100% agree. Playing in the ruck gets him involved in the game more often and when he gets the ball whilst playing in the ruck his brilliant disposal skills and elite vision mean any clearances he gets are usually really damaging. Also i think he surprisingly good at directing taps to advantage. I think his hammy meant that he was unable to play in the ruck when he came back and it really hurt how much he could impact games.
  13. Beats me. Apparently he goes ok
  14. Task completed. Surprisingly enjoyable.
  15. I have had you ignore for ages bitter. And i usually don't look at your posts. But i just did. And it wasn't so bad. So i'll take you off ignore. Ironically enough you quoted Saty. Who i also have on ignore. I'll keep him there. Steve i would never ignore you. Way too much fun reading your posts. I mean comments like they had no other options but to keep playing Tmacs younger brother are just too funny (umm just a thought but one option might have been to play the super talented Weed and leave Tmac down back). Comedy gold. By the by did you read this article? In it Jimmy Bartel analyses our list. Not surprisingly as most on DL agree (including me) he says we should target Lever who would be the 'intercept marking and rebounding defender that would compliment Frost and Oscar McDonald so well'. What is more surprising is that he says if we don't move Tmac permanently forward we need to bring in another tall forward. I thought that was what we had Weed for? Perhaps he doesn't rate him as highly as you.
  16. One things surprises me Steve. With your ability to assess talent i don't understand why you are not working for an AFL club in a list management role. With your mad skills and football acumen some of the decisions the so called professionals at the mfc have made in the last two years must baffle and frustrate you in equal measure. As an example of that acumen let's look at two young kp players you mention above at comparative stages in their career - their second season of AFL football. Both need to put on some muscle and of course it is a big ask to play in key positions at such a young age. The one you see as having no obvious talent or easily identifiable attributes is backed in by the so called professionals to play 15 games in his second season, ahead of veterans Lynden Dunn and Colin Garland. Despite having those two experienced defenders available once picked he is not dropped all season. Yes he averaged 6.5 intercepts and over 16 possessions a game at 78.3% DE (silly stat - so easy for defenders like him a to get high DE with their easy chip kicks!). But, still - honestly what were they thinking? And then at seasons end do they heed your advice and draft in a stop gap experienced KPD to allow him to develop in the VFL while they waited for lever to come off contract? What? They don't? No, they don't and what's more such is their bizarre confidence in him they trade away an experienced KPD in Dunn. Crazy stuff. Now lets look at the second season of the player with 'obvious talent and easily identifiable attributes that made him standout prior to being drafted. Which is part of why he went inside the top 10'. Now this is where it gets really weird. Good injury free pre season after a similarly injury free run in his first pre season. But only gets selected for seven afl games. Seven. And this despite the fact that for big chunks of the season we had one or both of our key forwards out through injury and form and were desperate for a KPF. And this is where it gets even weirder. Despite having such obvious talent at their disposal they instead throw TMac forward and ask his inexperienced brother, who has no obvious talent, to carry the load and be the main man down back. A young fella in just his third season - what were they thinking? Strange also that this coincided with the period jnrmac thinks we played our best football. To be fair to the so called professionals the high draft pick with such obvious talent has hardly set the world on fire in the magoos and at times down right struggled. And when he has got a gig in the seniors he has shanked more kicks than taken marks (64.3% DE - ouch, 3 contested marks in total - double ouch), averaged 8.6 possession a game and kicked a grand total of 3 goals which is given the KPI of a KPF is kicking goals is not a great return. But his talent is obvious. And it is a big step up to AFL level. And it is a real challenge for young kp players to play regular senior footy at AFL level. You have to be pretty good to get regular games at that age playing in a KP. Big men take time. And for what it is worth i agree. His talent is obvious. And i think he will make it. Though that is not as clear as it might have 12 months ago or when he was drafted so highly. The ability of the so called professionals at the dees to see the obvious must drive you nuts Steve. Do us all a favor and get a job there and set them straight. Though with their inability to spot talent and make good choices they probably would not give you a gig. Fools. Oath.
  17. That makes it pretty easy then. Can i play? It is likely lever comes to the dees. It is likely kelly signs a 2 year deal with gws. It is likely we look to trade kent to freo or wc.
  18. Thanks kc. Im close to being sufficiently over my funk to consider going to this match. At least the weeks break has some positive outcome for dees fans.
  19. Thats true. That said the weeks break is a huge wildcard that would have given players struggling with injury a chance to freshen up. Not to mention giving viney a good chance of playing. [censored]. [censored]. Crap. Its all come back now. I feel sick all over again. I cant face watching the footy this weekend.
  20. I blocked everything out after missed out but would we have not played Port not Sydney if WC had lost? And even if we had beaten the Pies by small margin we might still have played Port? Or have i got that wrong? We would have had a reasonable shot of beating Port.
  21. Again, he is a contracted player. He has to agree to any trade.
  22. He is a contracted player and probably on a pretty good contract at that. He would need to agree to be traded. Of course the club could encourage him to want to leave by say threatening VFL footy but there is no surer way to kill a culture. Look at what is happening with Mayne at the Pies. similar money and similar contract length i suspect.
  23. Double points for insulting Clementine Ford......
  24. It is indisptuable our pressure dropped of significantly in the last 6-8 games. Injuries and general tiredness took their toll. As i have been at pains to say that pressure drop exposes zone defences. But given our scoring was also based partly on that same zone defence through run off hb and super quick ball movement and transition our scoring also suffered. If we had - as seems to be the case - simply ran out of gas goody had to respond somehow. And dropping tmac back to play man on man and essentialy replacing frosty's aggressive run might have been that response.
