  1. I'm willing to give him at least 5 games with this new look team to show some SERIOUS competitiveness before I think about sharpening the knives. But jesus, I don't know what he was thinking with a couple of these 'senior' recruits. Wowee. He certainly hasn't instilled any confidence in the team yet, which is so important. The amount of times we punched instead of marking? Awful. Got to go for the marks boys. Some of the players looked confused about a lot of things today, when to kick, when to handball, when to zone, when to man up, when to 'V' switch (which for a team of our kicking skills should be never). Our defensive 50 zoning was deplorable. If we have another start like last year we might need to sniff around.
  2. If we had more natural, skilled midfielders on the list over the last decade, it would have been interesting to see how Col would have developed as a permanent forward. Can't really remember him playing close to goal too much... He may have suffered from being adept at most positions but not excelling at any of them. Howe will be a great player. Has a knack for scoring tricky goals out of nothing, which we need desperately.
  3. It did look like most of Jamar's taps were to our advantage... but it was so fast and scrappy out there today, more often than not we wouldn't get a clear possession away and it became a 50/50 ball again..
  4. I wouldn't say horrible. He's still one of our most composed and efficient players with the ball, I think most people have accepted he won't be a 'great' player.
  5. ok then, he was fantastic, hard at the ball, took some courageous marks and as a senior player he truly inspired the youngsters with his Joel Selwood-like attack on the ball. Um...are you visually impaired? I'm not making it up for fun unfortunately.
  6. Surely not. He's a cross between Brad Miller and James Sellar on a bad day. Would even play Fitzpatrick before him.
  7. Same old Watts. Looked skinny. Had a couple of nicely weighted kicks. Refused to attack the ball in the air or impose himself on any contest. Standard.
  8. Disappointing they couldn't elaborate on Blease a little bit, considering he's one that has always struggled aerobically in pre-season. I already knew his 'speed & kicking' wasn't a problem, but where's he at fitness-wise compared to last year?
  9. Looks like Stevie Johnson on the left and grabbing Riv's arm.
  10. surely those little red collar bits we're continuing with are irritating for the neck
  11. Magner is not an AFL player IMO. Just too slow. If he's getting regular games this year it means we are in trouble. Evans has more upside from what I've seen of him. Speed kills.
  12. this is retarded. How the hell can anyone outside the club have any idea what he does day to day, or what kind of bloke he actually is.
  13. I'll ignore Jesus as per usual. I'm a Demon after all. Definitely take the early timeslot over a fricken twilight game any day. WORST.
  14. keep. Not a starter but a handy depth player. Shows urgency. Goes hard every time. Good enough for me.
  15. In some of the games this year where our supposed 'Tier 1' players like Frawley were dishing up pathetic efforts, Bail was throwing his body in and running his guts out for the team. If everyone showed as much interest then maybe he wouldn't be so stuffed that he can't hit a target. One game that springs to mind was Brad Greens last game where 90% of the team were an embarassment to the jumper. Bail was not one of them. Bartram improved his kicking, Bail can too. Gets one more year to impress.
  16. Yep happy with this entire list with the addition of Bennell & Magner who I've never liked as a player... but maybe we should give Barts a chance with his knee first. Jetta gets one more year. Watts gets one only more year too as far as I'm concerned. If he doesn't sharply improve I can no longer defend him, my credibility is already being ridiculed.
  17. surprised more people wouldn't vote to get rid of Magner. Small, slow and average skills. Threatens to take McKenzies mantle as the official team 'tagger who is a bit of a spud but tries hard.' No thanks, this midfield is slow enough already. May as well try someone else. Clearly he's not going to give us much and there is no upside to keeping him.
  18. I desperately want Watts to be the player we all hope he can be - but he is still a bit of a fairy and it kills me. Leaning towards Nic Nat at this stage.
  19. Keep as a depth player. Plenty to go before him.
  20. Would've thought as a football player he might actually want to play some football - and maybe help out his teammates and the club that is paying and supporting him.
  21. I found it confusing at times today. Fail.
  22. I love Neville Jetta. Gutsy and HAS A CRACK. Also has the pace to get himself out of trouble and can operate in a phonebox. Kicking has improved, still a little way to go. With a few games in a row, could become a regular up forward or around the wing. He's like a Jamie Bennell if Jamie Bennell was not a massive fairy.
