  1. 10 goals to Richmond. What a joke. Maybe we should bring Fitzpatrick in so at least I can have a laugh at the game. *ignores boos. Morton = No. Did you see him pack his dacks under the uncontested high ball in the back line and spill it? Awful. I really can't be f'd sitting through another agonizing rebuild. Was going to watch the Trengove interview on the MFC site but he reels off boring cliches and appears to fall short on personality & spark like a lot of guys at the club. Mind you, he's still a better speaker than Brad Green was. We suck. This rollercoaster is on a journey to the centre of the earth.
  2. just watched the Neeld presser for this weeks game on the AFL website He's upbeat, obviously trying to put a positive spin on things this week after going hard in Round 1. It actually made me feel a bit better. As he says, the Eagles are a quality, skillful team. We, clearly, are not.
  3. So so hard to watch. Every time I think we've hit rock bottom we somehow drill another layer. Our style of play is just awful. Remember when we had the Febey's, Nathan Brown, and even Ward running in wave after wave together and just showing fantastic intensity off half back, charging through the middle? Now that was football. The skill & intensity in this bunch is just woeful. We're carrying so many spuds. Joel McDonald? Really? The STUPID frees we gave away at the start of the game today just sapped the energy out of us - it was all downhill from there. I'm seriously worried about this club. We just don't have the players. There's going to be at least another 3 years of this. At least. FML in the face.
  4. If Davey had actually admitted he said SOMETHING and it had been taken out of context - and had Neeld admitted this too - then yes I think Davey could've fronted up at the presser. But he is is saying NOTHING was said - so the club now wants the spotlight off him. So after Aaron denies the allegations again at the presser, there are no other relevant questions for him. Little point in being at a conference with nothing to say. Mind you, 90% of them turn out that way anyway.
  5. My thoughts of (alleged) events: 1 - Davey clearly says something in a catch up with Mifsud. 2 - I don't believe he was trying to be critical of Neeld. 3 - Mifsud twists it in some way & blurts it to someone, as part of his new position as AFL's chief dobber. 4 - Caro brings it to the club. 5 - Davey sorts it with Neeld and the issue is dealt with and should be closed. 6 - Mifsud blurts it again, this time to Grant Thomas. 7 - Sh*t gets hectic. 8 - Mifsud backtracks because he knows he has dumped Davey in it and misconstrued his words (not necessarily lied) 9 - Neeld claims in a presser today that he still doesn't know who the source is. Suddenly he's not concerned about it. Hmm that's odd Mark. Because we all know it was Davey? I get that he has to close ranks around Davey to maintain a club unity but I would prefer he didn't fib to us all in the meantime... Of course I could be wrong about some or all of this - but I think it may be the chain of events from what I can work out? It annoyed me in the Neeld presser today when he said he didn't care about finding out who the original source was.
  6. Mifsud. What a bloke. Why would anyone involved in footy ever risk having a conversation with this shifty rat again.
  7. Tigers. Midfield is more important than defence and they are all over us there. They also have heart, passion & more intensity than us. There is no way we would have got within cooee of Carlton.
  8. Cheers, you are right.... It was doing my head in, I may have been a little short with the Foxtel Customer service chick but serves them right for leaving me on hold for 15 minutes. I was feeling pretty flat after that game and even flatter watching the replay in dodgy quality. I smell a new 'rebuild' coming on for the Dees.
  9. Out: Blease & Joel Mac. The only reason Davey gets a reprieve is his 5 tackles and because the rest of the team are spuds when it comes to kicking. In: Donald & David Cockatoo-Collins. They'd easily get a game in this god-forsaken rabble.
  10. What a weird, soulless game. Our guys actually went in hard. However, the real toughness we needed was gut running to provide an option and to shut down theirs. Bottom line was, they always had 4 or 5 players with the confidence and desire to run and present forward of the contest, 30 metres clear of their opponents and providing a safe option. We handballed BACKWARDS to guys under pressure and then kicked long and scrappily to contests. Awful. In other news, I'm now watching my recording of the game on FOX FOOTY and it appears to not be in HD? Not even upscaled SD? Has anyone else mentioned or noticed this? Is it just happening to me? I recorded it remotely with my I-Phone through the Foxtel App, can't imagine why that would affect it though.
  11. Pretty good side I guess - Real shame there's no Jurrah at this stage to add a little sparkle to what is essentially a workman-like team. I also reckon Ricky P is a big loss - I rate him massively, he's so hard at it and desperate for the footy, as well as being able to do the spectacular. Joel Mac was the first thing that worried me but then I thought, what is there to replace him? I guess Tappy will come in once he's fit. Should be enough quality there to do the trick - let's hope it's not as uninspiring as last year's game against the Lions. As a previous poster said, I would prefer if we kicked off against a decent team but I may yet eat those words.
  12. I'm confident that our team has improved and overall we'll give a stronger, more committed and consistent contest. Unfortunately, a lot of other teams are improving at the same time. (Tigers, Crows, North will be better than last year). It's just our lack of A Graders and foot skills - especially in the midfield - So I suspect we'll finish around 11th this year.
  13. I would be spewing if one of our players got rubbed out for that... Yes he is guilty of not looking at the ball - but the footage clearly shows Butchers arms really only made contact with Sylvia's outstretched arms and that is all. If he took him out with a body check then fine, rub him out...but arm on arm? Please. Unlucky fall for Colin but no weeks for Butcher I'm tipping. Col's inconsistency means we can probably live without him for a few weeks and it shouldn't affect us too much.
  14. I agree with you totally re Spud. At least once a game, he comes out with something that is completely wrong and ignorant. I have no idea how he got the coaching job at the Tigers, tells you a bit about that club. I can't even watch that show he's on with Dunstall, he tries to ham things up way too much and just comes across as a tool. I met him once when I was working at Triple M and he was pretty unlikeable. Don't get me started on Dwayne Russell and his overuse of 'AMAZING!'. Hawthorn are a fantastic team, hardly any weaknesses. Thank god Geelong are around to be a thorn in their side.
  15. Welcome to Demons football, Mr Neeld. Dumb, clumsy football. You have some work to do with this lot. Besides Essendon, the Hawks are the one pther team I REALLY want to beat this year. It's clear there is absolutely no way that will happen. Some of the lowlights: :- Sylvia blindly hacking kicks around the corner like he did all last year. :- Fitzpatrick running around like a newborn giraffe. Every single time I've watched this guy, I see him fresh-air an uncontested mark. FFS, can we draft some guys who look like they have some COMMAND and confidence even if it's not warranted? :- Watts is just going through the motions, pretending to attack the contest but really just fluffing around with the bare minimum of body contact. :- Nicholson was woeful today. :- Moloney had a shocker, turned it over heaps, tried to blame others. :- There were probably only 4-5 guys that beat their opponent today. :- the lack of defensive pressure all over the ground was concerning. So much better last week. :- We continually had 3-4 guys going up for the same mark/spoil and nobody crumbing, both ends. :- Really disappointing crowd for a perfect Saturday arvo, I reckon there was only about 3000 Dee's there. I actually thought Davey was ok today, the lazy effort at the end of the game I think was just because he was absolutely exhausted. I thought he'd done a hammy for a sec there. Howe throws himself into every contest and makes a difference - continues to impress. What a crappy day, I want my $25 back. I wonder where we'll play next week?
  16. I was annoyed I couldn't go to this game because of a wedding - but with our omissions and by the sounds of the team that the Pies will have in, we should get pumped. Hope some youngsters get something out of it.
  17. I think it was the sound of my heart breaking. Oh well, this may give Tynan more game time to develop. "Always look on the briiiight side of life" . It's pretty rare for any team to have their best 22 out there for Rnd 1. Fingers crossed but I don't like the look of the pain he was going through.
  18. If Jetta can get himself fit and have an uninterrupted pre-season for once, I'd like to think he could do a great job as a small forward. He has excellent pace over 5-10 metres. His tackling and harassment are his strengths, rather than goal kicking admittedly - but if he made this a focus in his training who knows, he could improve in leaps and bounds. It's not like Wonna was amazing in front of goal either, most of his goals were scored running off the back of the pack and dribbling it through before doing his frog-leap. Maybe Jetta needs to be given this role and told to concentrate on it - it might be the job that gives him the confidence to be an above average player and avoid the low paid obscurity that Bennell seems to be drifting ever closer to. I've always wished we had one of those players you could be confident of - with a sixth sense for a crumbing goal... I'm thinking a Betts, Lyndsay Thomas, Rioli, Ebert, Milne, Kraquer, LeCras.... The last really good one I can remember us having is Jeff Farmer. One of the greatest. Maybe Yze to a lesser degree. We're just lacking some sparkle and have done for a long time.
  19. HAHAHAHA I can't believe we won that game. Frawley you are so lucky - that was a dodgy move at the end there...even if he got a boot on it would have gone out of bounds and back to them. Much better second half. Hit some targets. Are we the first team this year to win our 2nd game against the fresh team? 3 things I learned tonight: 1. Sellar has courage 2. Bate can play a role this year 3. Watts is still feeble. Can he ever out-body anyone?
  20. Bang! Sellar shuts the cellar door (maybe) with a great set shot. He's like Paul Johnson but better.
  21. So I've noticed Bate has replaced Davey as our 'quarterback' off half back. Interesting. In a scary way. He does seem to be getting a heap of it though.
  22. In this second game we're under immense pressure so we've flooded back. Which means we have absolutely nothing to kick to. It's accentuated by the fact that all our kicks are panicky snaps. We've had 1 mark to the Lion's 27 apparently and we still haven't scored after 19 minutes. Again, decision making killing us.
  23. Gysberts in cement boots - ha good call. Just looked like we weren't really prepared for a wet weather game plan out there. Yes we had a youngish team but GC didn't exactly have a team full of seasoned professionals. So annoying that it's a monsoon, I was looking forward to seeing our new pinpoint precision slicing through our opponents along the boundary. ROFL.
  24. I'm not worried about our skills in this weather, more the fact that our decision making has been woeful and they've outnumbered us at almost every contest. GC wins 26 to 23. Hope we're better in the 2nd game but as Bailey would say; 'we need to be more COMPETITIVE'
  25. Gold Coast all over us for the last 10 minutes of half 1 with more players getting to each contest. Scores level at Half Time. Both their goals have come from breaks through the middle and then over the top into space. Interesting to see if we lift for half 2. Horribly sh!te conditions for footy.
