Jack Trengove re-injures his navicular (2014) - trade deal off
monoccular replied to Wiseblood's topic in Melbourne Demons
And of course you know that scans weren't done, and you know that scans always show up these things right from the start?? Of course if he had been put out to rest for half a season or more there would be many here labelling him as a wimp, and our medical / physio team as overcautious. Are you perhaps abroad somewhere as some eminent Professor of Orthopaedics? -

But one rumour had it that that new guy at Geelong had a bit to do with him leaving, and he was going to leave regardless. dieter - some people whinge all the time. There will inevitably be a core group who will even before our first game say whoever we pick and 2 and 3 should have been the two who others got at 4 and 5. Just wait. -

OMG - first time I have really had a good look at him. Even given the reservations one should have of anyone's highlights reel, he looks bloody exciting. Does anyone else see, despite him playing largely as a defender, the young version of our beloved Ox? -
Well, lets hope that he doesn't need to go there to get a kick :-(

I guess that those in the know may have has word that the Saints were going for him.....maybe.

Potential Trades [Warning: Reading this thread may self-destruct]

Chri$ Judd's grandmother's neighbour's step nephew's barber said much the same, or so it is said. -

(1)How novel.Like !! (2) Maybe Roos has more faith than some that Georgiou, with another professional preseason, and if he keeps his head out of Jack Viney's - or Jack's victims - way, could make a more than decent defender. -
Note that this reply is posted after the trades have closed, but for that does the poster really know that all this behind scenes stuff hasn't been attended to already?? Whatever, I am as sure as night follows day that whomever of Petracca/Wright/Brayshaw/Lever our professional team decide upon, there will be posters here who won't be happy, and will vilify those whose job it is to make these difficult / impossible calls for getting it totally wrong when A players a blinder when B has a downer, or C is injured and D kicks a few, etc etc etc. Ain't hindsight marvelous!!

from reading another thread it would appear to be 4

Are we able to rookie Jack Trengove - from what we have heard he is unlikely to play before late 2015, if ever? Does anyone know of any gems likely to fall to 40 or 53 ? The likes of Tom McDonald's bro, or Cockatoo ? (Only names I have heard - I admit to not really knowing anything about them so please, someone, enlighten me / us )
-
You just have to realize that some folk will never be happy. Envisage us winning a GF by 99 points : some would be bitching about "that dud", who happened to kick 5 goals, missing a "sitter" in the third quarter, or another "dud", who happened to win the Normie, missing a tackle with 5 minutes to go !
-
Perhaps you are suggesting that he is deeply religious "lead me not into temptation but deliver me from evil..." And if we do pass on Petracca, and he turns out to be an instant success it will at least give the Wines >> Jimmy T lobby some further reasons for self adulation.
-
I admit to never having seen Wines or any of the potential picks 2 & 3 mids in their U18 days - for those who have, how do / did they compare at this stage?
-
2 AND 3 would be overs for anyone. Knowing the MFC Smith Curse, if he did join us he would probably suffer a career ending injury within a few months.

Jack Trengove re-injures his navicular (2014) - trade deal off
monoccular replied to Wiseblood's topic in Melbourne Demons
Poor guy can't take a trick. Bloody unlucky. If anyone ever doubted th a Norm Smith curse surely they would recognize and acknowledge it now. So many potential champions cut down or limited in their prime, and here is jus t one more. But that is just the point ; there is no justice. Merde happens, and especially to this club. -
Mods, we need a "tongue in cheek" icon!

AFL involved in Port Adelaide/Essendon Draft Rort

ignition - won't requote the whole lot again in the interests of space, but many thanks for filling us in on this - the club, it's directors, it's coaching staff, and Dr Reid for not blowing the whistle when he should have, all have a hell of a lot to answer for. I am not a lawyer or a prosecutor but surely criminal charges could / should follow. -

Surely there is far far more to this than any of us here know anything about: MUST be part of something huge. Or some sort of Roos ruse. Watch this space. -
Sure we haven't (yet) traded out those under performing contracted players, do you know that we haven't tried hard to do so? And, there is still time. Maybe we will end up with a pick in the 20s or 30s for these guys. IF number 3 is such a gamble, and IF the two you mentioned, McDonald and Cockatoo are such good prospects, THEN POSSIBLY there could be a big surprise and one of these COULD be a surprise packet at #3? Maybe.

But Buckley has his 'godfather' running his club, so he will be safe as long as he wants the job. -

and add in a human, intelligent and intelligible coach Do you think that the two ideas are mutually exclusive? Should we just wait and maybe waste another year while these guys come on, and not play a proven performer to help win a few, and help guide JKH and Kent. -
Sydney Swans banned from trading players in ...
monoccular replied to JTR's topic in Melbourne Demons
By all means stop the extra propping up of Sydney by COLA and their special access arrangements through the academy, but this on the run ruling seems just so typical of the reactionaries at AFL HQ. Fair trading should be part of the game; how can they just suddenly force one club not to trade - unless for example it is part of a penalty for bringing the game into disrepute by injecting players with unknown substances! By the way, does anyone have a link to, or a quick summary of exactly what the rules are regarding the Swans' academy. -

It is always difficult to see a slippery slope ahead of you when your head is up a very dark orifice ! -
I suspect that Mr Roos has at least had a chat, and that some sort of offer has been made. Time gentlemen please.

Speculation, real information, or natural and completely justified demon pessimism?
