I guess Geelong, a recently very successful club, may have had just a little bit of a think about all this, and decided that it was worth a gamble. Nobody can know just how it will all turn out, but he clearly hasn't displayed any work ethic at the Demons. Can a leopard change his spots?

so they wouldn't join in a trade - got him for nothing.

Maybe revert to the old VFL days - supplementary list ? -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JEFF GARLETT
monoccular replied to Demon3's topic in Melbourne Demons
Isn't this a Garlett, not a Garland, thread?? :-) -
and long will it be debated whether they were poor choices and / or poorly developed in a 'weak culture'. One will never ever know, though I know many will have theories and expound them, which if any of these would have become a star had they been drafted e.g. at Hawthorn or the Swans.

I am really sorry that he hasn't made the grade - looked great in his first quarter of footy, but unfortunately hasn't been able to repeat. Good luck.

I wonder if AFLPA have checked whether EssUndone started their injection program before the allowed period? Fair dinkum, what a load of wankers.
-
There would be very little discussion on any prospective draftee were comments to be limited to those who have actually witnesses the guy play in the flesh. Perhaps we could do a poll - who of those who post here have actually seen any of these wannabes play live?

WTF was that mercenary doing near our training ?

Maybe you don't understand* that, like its counterpart the scaphoid in the wrist, the navicular injury can be impossible to diagnose for a very long time. It is not (necessarily) a matter of mismanagement and substandard medical checks as you put it - it can be just a matter of time before it declares itself. *IF you are an orthopedic surgeon specializing in disorders of the foot then I will apologise

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BRENDAN McCARTNEY
monoccular replied to kurtneverdied's topic in Melbourne Demons
I wonder if jimmy had just taken a dose of some "good stuff" when he made that quote? Would that be so you could [censored] about our amateurish Board appointing someone inexperienced, should it not turn out 100% successful? -
"So I thought that we should just try some of this experimental myostatin blocker on our guys. Hopefully it is safe, but, hell, time will tell" "Sure James - should I deliver it to Windy Hill, through the same back door as the other stuff?"

At the risk of sounding like Monty Python's Four Yorkshiremen, I can only dream of the day that we have a forward line as bad as Norf's.

except that the dog has put on about 40kgm

I guess that whilst talent is difficult enough to asses, character and determination must be even harder. Hopefully our current recruiters, and coaching panel will have far greater success in this very inexact endeavour / science / art. It is also a number 1 priority that we get on and secure Nathan Jones on a long contract as soon as possible. Were he to leave it would cut the heart out of the playing list, not just for his talent but for his determination and leadership.

So true: the guy put in his best throughout, didn't make it like many at all clubs before him. Should be respected for his courage and efforts. Played far more AFL games than (?almost) all who post here.

Alex was 'playing his role' until that Adelaide guy who head butted Viney, then head butted him and knocked him out. Unlucky for him that Garland was ready for return just when he was concussed. I would have thought that he may fill one of Roos' 'role player' situations, but I trust Roos to make the calls and presumably he didn't see a role for him going forward. Thanks Alex for giving it a red hot go : pity some of your far more talented teammates over the years haven't put in like you have.

And doesn't that say one hell of a lot about what a crap feeder competition the VFL is in its current form......all those consecutive byes is just a momentum killer.

Known fact, or (fully justifiable) demon fan pessimism???

Fractured scaphoid I think. And don't forget James Cook who had a great preseason cup and I think lead the goal kicking after maybe 6 rounds before a career vending ?ankle injury.

Whats the prediction of how we are going to go next season
monoccular replied to ruddo's topic in Melbourne Demons
and, had we managed to hold on and win even half of those we would have had a quite respectable 9 wins. -
11th - 86.8%

Wonder if Goodyear is any good in the wet?

I suspect that Roos had him play a season down back to help his development as a mid or high HF. Come in Jeremy - show us your stuff through 2014.

Well said and so true. Go Nathan - we love you.
