  1. Looks like the selectors agree too....barring a last minute change I must say these particular match ups would seem to be just made for Fitzy. I guess, one way or the other, this will be discussed again furiously post match, with one group saying absolutely right and another absolutely wrong. Gotta love this site. PS. Bugger re vanders. Hope it isn't anything serious - the site would go into meltdown with demands for Missen's sacking or execution if it is. Go Dees.
  2. Wow Great news for Jack, and the club. Still a hell of a long road ahead but well done. Great news for the club too that Max and JW thought of and organized it all - shows great camaraderie and club spirit. Hope it is an indicator of both players' long term intentions to be part of the Demon revival. PS. did bring a tear to my one eye.
  3. So, the father of one of the players, who also happens to be "an EssUndone legend" knew of this but thought it was confidential. And was happy to talk about it on radio!!! How can it have been confidential if he knew of it? All sounds very incestuous and typical of EssUndone's handling of this whole sad sorry sordid saga. Certainly designed to get the players to give their all for the club, isn't it ! Not !!!!And what hypocrisy to say that the players are frustrated by the leaks....at least some of which have undoubtedly come from the club.
  4. Don't remember him (had a few years in the footy wilderness) but was he really better at the long lost art of drop kicking than Tassie Johnson #8? He would seriously be hard to beat. Regularly kicked it as far as the mud patch at the G in our glory years.
  5. So, what is Myers' problem that prevents him getting more games in?The Connolly article says chronic leg injuries - no mention of whether these could relate to certain 'substances'. I also see that he has had but one single disposal this season in his one game - does anyone have any updates on this? Sounds a huge risk to me, even without the WADA issues.
  6. Hogan 32.14. Season incomplete. Pretty impressive Even more interesting would be, if findable, how many their team scored in those years, ie what proportion of total team goals they scored.
  7. I think we all do. Why do you raise this? If he was then maybe both Jamar and Fitz or Spencil would be named in the squad.
  8. Surely Fitzy's non selection given his VFL form, and against this tall forward line means that the tunnelball effectively ended his MFC career.
  9. 8,9&10 - infinity. He plays for Melbourne Demons.
  10. No, just stupid enough to run an experimental drug program and expect to get away with it, but not stupid enough to put in some $6m payout? Where does stupidity start and finish? Bulla Road?
  11. Mark? You are indeed deluded The guy (Mark, you?) nearly destroyed our club. No interpersonal skills.
  12. And another win at Doglands- on top of our round 20 win there over the Bulldogs of which I am extremely confident. !!
  13. On Missen's report yesterday it was illness - can't remember but maybe gastro Don't want that in the club room (unless you can infiltrate the opposition a few days pre match)
  14. Some feel that self flagellation offers the best of both worlds - sadism and masochism simultaneously. Though a true sadist would feel conflicted - is it more sadistic NOT to flagellate the masochist, as all he wants is the pain? More sadistic to deny him that pleasure.
  15. Sure, let's get positive: so then let's kill off two of the monkeys on our backs this week, (NM and successive wins) and the other the following week v Dogs at the Doglands. Would we have some happy campers then??
  16. On the other hand I would far prefer a successful TEAM than an ordinary team with several AAs.
  17. An often underrated and under reported statistic. Gus 0.88 JW 0.69 per game Interestingly, given the mention of Tom Lynch (Adelaide) in the trade thread, he leads the competition with a massive 1.38 per game Imagine those three in the same forward line
  18. But what I think most posters are getting at it is NOT old fashioned Leigh Matthews / Ted Whitten type thuggery, but just real aggression towards the guy who wants or has the ball - great to see.We don't want to see guys hitting or elbowing opponents in the head or face* - just hard body to body contact so that if they want the ball they have to earn it. *or even the cowardly Gibson gut punches
  19. I guess someone listened to that absolutely disgraceful drivel but it should not be referred to as commentary. Barracking. Bagging. But never commentary. I must have missed it as I turned the sound off.
  20. ?? Must have missed something
  21. Worried about spuds ? ;-)
  22. Maybe this is a contributing reason for there being nothing near a century goal kicker these days. Imagine trying to tell Peter Hudson to come off the ground after every goal he kicked. Or Plugger! Hopefully if the interchanges become heavily capped this nonsense will stop. For example a FF who marks and kicks from the goal square has to run half the length of the ground, grab a few seconds 'rest' then run hell for leather back again. It all defies logic to my simple mind. Sure rotate mids, but KPP forwards don't all run from FF to HB and back like our Jesse does. And maybe if the rotations are cut they won't which would probably / possibly be good for reducing congestion in the game.
  23. They do look 'big mothers' don't they? As internationals, do they have to be rookies or listed, or is there a 'development' spot off the list? I seem to remember some guy ? westhoff from NZ somehow attached to our list a year or so back. It would be fantastic for the AFL to allow an international player such as these guys or Irish in particular to be developed at a club whilst not occupying a list place, as they can be very speculative. Tell Dill Gil it will be good for the image of the game and he will jump at it.
  24. h_h. I was going to ask how do we rate on I 50 numbers? And AJ . How does our goal conversion rate (as compared with scoring rate) rank?
  25. I think young Jack has had plenty of recognition and is a fantastic young player. If he aspires to be as good or better than Bernie (and succeeds) he will be gold, or even platinum. What Bernie has that I can't recall seeing is an amazing ability to really hurt the opposition on the rebound, whist blanketing stars at the same time.
