We do have an uncanny ability to play teams, and players, into form.
-
Realistic nobody here can possibly give accurate advice - he needs to see someone who can look, feel and assess. A sports medical person, or a physio with sports interest

I made a similar comment to a mate in Saturday. How can we possibly be beaten by such an ordinary side playing ordinary football?? Unbelievable.
-
Sadly I suspect that you will be proven correct. However Spencer as a deep forward could hardly offer less. Can mark. Can and will ruck. Can kick goals (when his foot actually contacts the ball). Can and does tackle - CD#6 had zero tackles last week. Zero tackles from "an imposing big man" is far too few.

Bummers, Saints, even Collingwood games. This should be the new club motto - damnum rapta suis faucibus victoria
-
Nope - sorry. Nothing makes me feel even just a little bit better after losing to the drug cheats on Saturday. I doubt that I will ever believe or trust our team again.

The whole MRP situation has got completely out of hand. I hear tonight that Mark Evans now says the MRP got the Schultz / Richards case all wrong. Who is he to second guess the MRP? I think it may have been wrong but for him to come out publicly criticising his MRP's decisions is just plain crazy. If even he doesn't have confidence in this amateurish panel. how can the general public believe in its decisions? Especially Brownlow favourites being fined for what most players would serve time for, and for a very soft penalty for kneeing repeatedly to the head. Does Evans agree with that one?

Acknowledged that Miller didn't seem to,like kicking for goad from anything outside 40 meters. Maybe he was under instructions to hand it off: wouldn't put anything past his coaches during his career. Was there even a game plan? Maybe (will never, can never know) he may have been a better / more productive player under Roos / Goodwin ??

and don't forget that the injured Oedersen can do the same, and fill in ruck. Dawes down back - to "bring the ball to ground" for the opposition small forwards!!?? At least when he "brings the ball to ground" up forward (because he can't mark) the opposition crumbed is usually several kicks out from their goal.
-
Competes - but wins how often? Chases - zero tackles in Saturday's debacle Marks ?? Oh yeah - "brings the ball to ground" which is a poor man's consolation prize for a dropped mark. Goals ?? Seriously, how many games can you remember where he had had 'a big influence'?

Outrageously inconsistent. Mitchell - repeat offender deliberately trying to corkie an opponent - fine. (top contender team, big following) Adams - deliberately, multiple times, knee (big heavy object) to the temple and jaw (relatively fragile, vital body parts) - 2 weeks down to 1 (big club, big mouthed president) Both these acts are cowardly considered attempts at injuring an opponent - in Mitchell's case becoming a regular facet of his game. In Adams case a high risk of causing a very serious injury - brain hemorrhage, eye injury / blindness. But that ok, got lucky so one week. Pathetic process I did predict a very lenient penalty given the make up of the tribunal / MRP and the total lack of integrity at the AFL

Yes. We are bad. Yes we have the same win loss ratio that we did at the same time last year. Yes. We have a hell of a long way to go But despite the bitter disappointment of being beaten by a motley crew of drug cheats, we are (generally) playing better than this time last year. Slobbo has taken the opportunity to divert attention away from his beloved team's use of uncontrolled drugs in an unethical program of human experimentation. It is bloody disappointing being a Demon fan, as it has been almost constantly since 1965, and Saturday's lost opportunity to make a statement that we have come a long way since 2014 was gut wrenching. I must say after that, I will find it hard to get myself interested in next weekend's game - is it v the Bears? Rapidly losing interest.

I'm watched Dawes closely too. I have been a bit of a fan but now realize that he does so very little most of the time. Tommy McD going forward was (almost) an inspired move. Had he kicked straight we may well have won. (I know one could say that of a lot of our forwards too). But he provided a contest and held some marks. I totally agree re the Miller comment - Brad would, IMO, be a better player in this team that has at least a bit of a midfield that Dawes. He held marks for starters. Properly coached in a team with a modicum of a game plan Spot on

I mentioned it on the end of season list post. IIRC he was recruited as a forward. He would give defenders a Riewoldt (N) like runaround, and maybe some hard work on his set shot kicking could get somewhere. Remember defenders do no set shot kicking development - they need to be able to be accurate and long, but to a target rather that over the goal umpire's head. It would certainly be worth a go - he can take a good grab, and do a defensive forward's job helping lock the ball in which we did so appallingly yesterday. I liked what I saw yesterday other than his set shots. And hasn't he pushed forward a few times in the past few rounds to nail a few? Sparing him from defence would depend on Frost's return, Garland's staying, and his little bro's progress to a degree. Could allow us to move Dawes on (contract depending) which I would do in a flash, especially if [Pedersen] recovers fully.

Delistings/trades at end of the season

Now that is a laugh - Robbo referring to GCS as an unsafe workplace, but his beloved Ess-onDrugs is safe as houses! Were he consistent in his thinking (which he clearly isn't, ever; that requires sober thought) then Ess-onDrugs would have been cleared out completely (Zacharrakis excepted) long ago. And as far as the extra tall forward position, the one that [Pedersen] sometimes filled very well, the one that Dawes rarely does - just a thought bubble - IF Frost comes good next year, and IF Fitz stays as a tall defender (OMG one can only wonder if he had played on Danaher what may have eventuated yesterday: I know one can never ever tell) and IF OMcD makes some progress towards 2017, was the move of TMcD forward yesterday just maybe a glimpse of a possible move forward. IIRC he was recruited as a forward. Other than his kicking at goal, yesterday the move forward certainly generated more contests and shots at goal than did #6. Set shots at goal is something that can be worked on - look at Danaher and Choke's transformation, or does that only work when playing vs Demons? -
Greta to hear Hunt getting involved after a horror run with injuries. If his body holds up, and develops, sounds as if he could be something useful, at least. A mid / forward with genuine pace. Well, if he can play football half as well as Harley Bennell we could be on a winner, and hopefully he has enough mentors here to keep him on the right path.

If we DONT beat Essendon I will ...
monoccular replied to Bleeds_Red_&_Blue's topic in Melbourne Demons
It is difficult for me to get to games - really, as the team can't seem to be bothered putting on a decent show for the fans, why in the hell should we put ourselves into any inconvenience to support them - frankly they do not deserve it. Gutted to the core by yesterday allowing ourselves to be shamed by a mob of drug cheats. No pride shown in the club by the players. -
Cannot think of much to say tonight.....just so sad that having loyally following this club that teases so uncaringly for so long that I actually thought that this outcome was quite predictable. Just so inept. Just so little to look forward to as the next weekend approaches. An occasional teasing surprise, then this predictable crap.

Absolutely gutted

As I said, lets get over it, and give Toump all our encouragement and support. Even is he doesn't read this board, I am sure that he is aware of the comparisons and the grief that some many here are suffering. But in the end Toump is our player and deserves support not derision. And if one loves retrospective grief, just remember that all clubs passed over, many times, Chris Grant and James Hird (who was a great player even though he is a disgusting human being post playing).

Roos will not send him to Casey.

So was his year in Paris actually just to get him close to Lausanne to butter them up? Interesting thought. Goddard. Chapman. .......? Notice none of the "young guns". I still cannot derby and why WorkSafe hasn't bought in yet. I had thought they may have been awaiting WADA etc outcomes but it is just taking too long. Similarly AHPRA / Medical Board and Dr Reid. Unbelievable that they haven't lifted a finger.

Careful. The AFL logic may make us wear our away jumper for our home game. Pretty bloody simple, but when did the AFL consider simple solutions?????
