THE DRUG SCANDAL: AFL TRIBUNAL DECIDES
monoccular replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Surely WorkCare will now their their turn. Mandatory. Poor record keeping is never ever a defence. -
I doubt if many "invincible" young people, particularly "elite athletes" even consider heart attacks and cardiac arrest in the context of "recreational drugs" though it is amost a daily occurrence, sadly, in our city
-
Surely one quick at least 40-50 m on the attacking side of the mob would be enough to demand accountability to cover the fast break from the pack.

7 may not be enough, but 11 may be too many

All too true. IF others get it, whoever allowed him near the club should be drawn and quartered. -
Scientists discover AFL club in Western Sydney

I very much doubt if said recruiter could disappear without a trace. -

i was phoned on Monday re re-signing: could not do it at the time. Couldn't watch or listen today but certainly not in any hurry now. -
The AFL is one of the most corrupt organisations: Discuss
monoccular replied to Wolfmother's topic in Melbourne Demons
New header needed : Wolfmother is a troll - discuss. As SWYL points out, who would seriously believe anything Dr Reid said anyway. I will again go one step further than SWYL - how he is still a registered doctor just astounds me -
As you say, 3 years ago Wasn't even Hertier Lumumba but one Harry O'Brien Not even MFC but the Pies Didn't even say he smoked (which would be unlikely for any serious athlete) any way but asked a hypothetical. Huge failed attempt at a beat up by a pathetic excuse for a journalist
-
It would be very difficult for even the AFL to spin enough to justify any penalty being any less than that imposed on Saad.

Take a bow MFC; the recruitment of Frost was a master-stroke.

O'Brien was a lot easier to spell (I think it was, not O'Brian)? -
Equalization is total BS until and unless the participating clubs share the revenue from each game, after deducting running expenses. It takes two to tango. After all when Melbourne play the Drug Cheats at the G it is always their home game so they scoop the pool. I know Eddie has generously given us home rights on QB but when the "big clubs" continually get home gigs at the G they only get richer. Nobody has ever tried to justify why one "home club" at a shared ground should take all.

depressed at the thought of being overtaken by a youngster?

Remind me - was that a few years back when he wanted to play for the Demons? -
Casey Scorpions v Box Hill Hawks @ Casey Fields
monoccular replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Did Fitzy look as if he had progressed. I know big men take time but I am starting to find him frustrating. He put I a good game a couple of years back ? vs Dogs but was that a flash in the pan? Looked very athletic that night. -
He doesn't appear to be the sharpest tool in the shed but it does sound like an "inadvertent mistake" like Saad, not systematic attempts at cheating or human experimentation like EFC. The players have it drummed into them time and time again to only take ANY medication through the club doctor, most of whom do their duties diligently. Unfortunately one club (that we know of) had / have a doctor whose professionalism at least could be questioned: the duty of care by any doctor is to their patient and not to whoever pays their bills. If they are unhappy with what they hear and are told to administer, they must resign, and warn their patients of their doubts. "I was only obeying orders" was dismissed as a defence at Nürenberg.

If you are old enough to remember dad - his kicking was appalling early in his career and whilst one could never describe it as silky smooth it was a hell of a lot better in his middle and later years. From many accounts, the midfield structure having been dominant in the first half was switched seriously in the second. That is what these preseason games are all about - experimentation

But one does need to get the ball however good your disposal may be. I heard this for far too many years re Strauss. Sure JW is a far better talent than JS but he still ends to contribute an all round team effort FOOTballers do need to be able to kick to be a rounded contributor- see above re JW That trio are certainly fringe players as things stand

Jesse Hogan 'playing his role' (Saving MFC)
monoccular replied to bush demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
As I recall he spent quite a bit of time with Tom Hawkins last year as part of his overall (physical and mental) rehab from his back injury. Even if he has as little impact as Hawk did in his early years I just hope we can see some steady progress over 2015, and that he will become a dominant player in years to come. -

Steven Smith to be next MCC President
monoccular replied to La Dee-vina Comedia's topic in Melbourne Demons
Cannot surely be bad for the MFC though his director's rôle could require him to declare conflicts of intrest in matters relating to MFC. At very least he should ensure that we are not screwed at any stage. -
Ron....I thought that you were a really long term Demon fan.....as such, like me, I would have thought that you would use the word 'hoping' or 'wishing' rather than 'expecting'! I have stopped expecting....especially over the last two years when I had been 'expecting' big break out years from Hogan and Christian P, but even way back to expecting break outs from the likes of Ox, Tingay, Glenn Lovett, Paul Prympke, Allen Jakovich, James Cook all cruelly cut down by injury, and of course back even further when RDB was going to resurrect the club as coach back in the 70s All too stressful to expect....easier to wish and hope.
