  1. Hard to disagree that Vickery is a better ruck than a big man who won't ruck. Not sure though that that is actually a particularly high bar. Maybe, now that we do seem to have finally developed a 'good culture', maybe Vickery could benefit from a change of scenery to a decent club. Not yet convinced, but wouldn't microwave my membership if our player management team decided on taking him cheaply. 2. Seriously, worst case scenario, if Max missed some games who in their right mind would have JW playing as our main ruck? We MUST find or develop a forward / ruck who is big enough to take the mail role if needed. Meanwhile Pedersen is our next best option, unless Spencil steps up.
  3. And who will fill what is a very important role, Jesse Hogan kicking coach? If Ox still has his heart in MFC still he would do better filling this role than just slagging off about Jesse's kicking.
  4. Much as I hate hawthorn they have got it right re their taking the cup to Launceston very soon after the GF. Maybe the Doggies hadn't thought this through as, unlike Hawthorn, they may not have known they were going to win thus failed to plan properly.
  5. Certainly a great story of persistence and courage: it will however be difficult for him to regain a place in the 22 given the increasing emphasis on pure speed, but if anyone can achieve a return through hard work and focus it will be Jack.
  6. After a brilliant debut season he didn't reach the same lofty heights due largely to his preseason injury. Looking forward to seeing him join the other guns next year.
  7. Great to watch It was interesting that the first few games he just ran in without the stttuuuttter - developed mid season I wonder why? Hopefully it can be corrected If it was a choice between two coaches, it was surely a no contest. Only Mrs Lyon could choose the man from Freo.
  8. Not so sure. IIRC every time he was 'dropped' this season, he didn't play VFL then miraculously reappeared at MFC without doing his penance. Did he play in any of the Casey finals?
  9. Can't find context Who? Which is exactly why I question Footscray's interest in Choke. Ubfoftunately he also lacks agility and pace, the hallmark of Beveridge's game.
  10. Don't give Gil ideas - he may be watching. "Collingwood and poor misunderstood Essendon - how would you like me to give you the top 4 Victorians each year? Just to keep you and ch 7 happy."
  11. Maybe the 8 indicates that H#8 has signed on with him ???
  12. Second year blues? Worth at least one more IMO.
  13. If the price were right why not. A very good player.
  14. A glowing endorsement of the inspirational qualities of Lyon. So if we are becoming a destination club, are Freo becoming a detestation club?
  15. Apples and oranges. We need a forward / ruck, which Dawes isn't. We do still have Pedo Doubt if he has ever been BOG.
  16. Hallelujah Thank God, or Goodeee? Right now the next important move is to get him a personal kicking coach / mentor and get rid of that stttutttterrring run up.
  17. Pity really as they had done just about everything else right this year and finals in particular. Peter Gordon did look a bit uncomfortable trying to explain it. A huge PR opportunity missed.
  18. The fact that Pedersen was sent off for repairs* before the season ended indicates to me that he will be staying....and I can't see that we would hang onto both Pedersen and Dawes....so 2-1=1 in my view. Not quite sure what he would offer remaining on the list "until the Weid is ready" if Cam is still there, especially as Chris finds it even harder to take the field for Casey than for MFC. *not sure if any repairs would work for Chris
  19. Maybe we should aim for 7th - has an excellent history in the current set up.
  20. One can only ask that every player plays to their maximum - Matt Jones and Jordie McKenzie stand out in my mind as guys who did just that. Gave their all, but unfortunately their ceilings were not high. Compare them with the likes of Col or Trapper, full of talent but did not give their all. At least Matt and Jordie can hold their heads high.
  21. Imagine how much he will put on with a few decent preseasons.
  22. Uninjured, he offers aggression, courage, skills and poise. Looking forward to his return throughout 2017. We will be a better team with him.
  23. Fact or guess? Collingwood, Carlton, Essundone, also underperformed MFC performed better than these but you must be dreaming to think that the corrupt AFL will reward us and penalize their favorites Port however was from a footy tradition Equalizing the (rewards from) the prime time scheduling would be important too.
  24. IF it has helped Footscray to a flag and 'disadvantaged' Hawthorn and Sydney then it is a good thing.
