  1. I used to live next to the park, it's a gravel track and very forgiving surface to run on. (None of you ever had to watch sex in the city obviously, because the cute brunette used to run around the lake all the time, i think they call it Jackie Onassis reservoir or similar). It is actually a ripper place to go for a run as there are some super serious athletes who motor around the park. If he had run there earlier last year he would have seen me kick a sherrin to my son with us both in Melbourne jumpers. The only real danger around the park for Jack is doing his foot turning around to check out the candy. Some seriously cute girls get down to the park to run (Broadway actresses and similar).
  2. not being familiar with aussie TV ATM, I was sucked in an cursing...
  3. An interesting list as well from PRE (Bit sad how many Demons are on the list and it's not exhaustive, and context matters too). My view is that the victim in the matter will be the subject of a lot of pressure not to take the matter to the Police, even though that is the appropriate authority. I deeply dislike that the AFL take a statement from her before the Police have a chance. But regardless of previous action / inaction against footballers, I'm personally hoping violence against women garners some real opprobrium - glad that seems to be the majority view here. Luke Hodge - captain of the club gets caught drink driving (no suspension, $450 fine)Michael Hurley - gets extremely intoxicated, tries to evade cab fare, kicks the cab driver in the groin and punches him after being approached for not paying the fare (NAB challenge & 3 weeks, no fine)Taylor Adams - pleads guilty to affray and recklessly causing injury where one man ends up with a broken jaw (1 week, $3,347 fine)Liam Jurrah - charged with a machete attack causing serious head injuries to a man (no suspension or fine - Melbourne said they would "stand by Jurrah")Alan Didak - has a car ride with an accused murderer who starts firing shots out of his window, continues to drink with bikies at a club house after in Campbellfield (no suspension or fine)Nathan Bock - assaulted girlfriend in public and caused property damage (1 week, $5,000 fine)Daniel Kerr - charged twice with assault in 2007 (no suspension or fine)Steve Johnson - is caught speeding almost 80km over the speed limit (no suspension or fine - Geelong officials dismiss it as a "brain spasm")Jeff Farmer - pleaded guilty to assaulting his partner by hitting her several times in the head (no suspension, $2,000 fine)Ben Cousins & Michael Gardner - questioned by police over telephone calls they allegedly received in Melbourne that were made following a brawl and shooting at a Perth nightclub. Police believed they had conversations with at least one of the two men charged with disposing of the gun after the brawl (no suspension or fine)Collin Sylvia - allegedly assaulted his girlfriend and threatened to kill a passerby who intervened. It is believed he was intoxicated at the time (no suspension or fine - Melbourne say they're "disappointed Collin didn't advise us of the matter")Simon Goodwin - assaulted a photographer before threatening to "f***ing kill" him after running amok at an Adelaide pub at 11am (no suspension or fine - Adelaide call it a "learning experience")Brodie Holland - was charged with assaulting two women out the front of a Melbourne nightclub ($2,500 fine, no suspension - Collingwood "disappointed")
  4. 12 months and fine 6 (3%) All of the Pre Season 85 (42.9%) 6 weeks of the season 61 (30.8%) 12 weeks of the season 14 (7.1%) AFL sanction 23 (11.6%) Sacked indefinite 9 (4.5%) Current polling on Punt Road End (with a few complaints of why there is not a 'nothing' or 'fine' button). Pretty impressed that at ~45% favour him missing some season matches, they are hurting. Also I don't know what AFL sanction means, I presume it's some sort of PR exercise.
  5. Congrats to Stuie & TSFKA for smoking the peace pipe. I am also impressed at the amount of googling people are doing on the subject and posting the results, actually trying to have an informed discussion. Legally is a grey area, if there is a relationship between the two parties the Police can, regardless of the victim's wishes, press a complaint. That is not the case here. It is up to the complainant to make a statement to Police for action to be taken. That or a witness to state that they were fearful for the safety of the victim in the circumstances. Everything else is a summary offence and unlikely to proceed. BTW I would say it is a restaurant and expecting the staff or management to be able to cope (and who were probably scared stiff for a number of reasons) is a bit rich. Dusty has to go, the chop stick threat and the punch next to the head are to any reasonable person designed to instil fear for one's safety. Preferably as others have said, let the court deal with the matter. Then smash him with suspensions, I'd rather be done for drugs than get cited for what he's done, his actions are shameful. I also wonder what pressure is being brought to bear on the victim, I could imagine she might be fearful for her job, not much security in the TV industry and a producer (Top Gear excepted) is pretty vulnerable to a 'star's' (he's not a star, he's a dog, but you know what I mean) interest.
  6. Hawthorn – Offence is the new black, am scared they are going to become the greatest side since WW2 (no smiles), really hoping someone finds some Kryptonite. Pies - The big improvers, as much as I hate to say it, I reckon they won’t have the same lapses after midway through the season, expect them to play a bit like the Crowbots used to. Sydney – I think this side rejuvenates as well as the Cats, and still have some serious talent. Haven’t worked out how much they are going to miss Pike/Goodes, they will be a little lighter around the packs. What is keeping them up is I expect Buddy and Tippet to finally be the weapons we have always feared. Am curious to see if Buddy is marking out in front of his head or on the chest, will be a big sign of how they are going to go I reckon. West Coast – Can’t see them dropping that far, you don’t accidentally get into a flag, I do however think they are limited. Bulldogs – A good solid season, I reckon they have found their ‘A’ game, play really good team footy, like their recruits and with a bit of luck Libba comes back (hope he doesn’t get played back into form against us) and stretches a few sides, really like the coach. Port – Tempted to put them lower, really couldn’t understand how much they had lost the way to play as a team, think its terminal. Happy to be wrong I like their running game. Freo – I agree Pav is cooked, I think like Hamill and Gehrig, the injuries will cruel his season and Ross hasn’t got a winning score tucked up his sleeve from anyone else. They will however torch bottom eight sides all year. Geelong – 3 to 7 don’t have daylight between them, recruiting keeps them in the 8, but not much more. I actually think Selwood is done. Adelaide – No idea, but I reckon they should have stuck with Camporale. I reckon last year was about emotion. Melbourne – 10 wins but the 8 is a tough gig, will only make it with our best 22. Am really nervous about who is going to step up into cross’s role, his sweeping intercept defense really kept us in a few games last year. Richmond – reckon they’re mentally fragile, can’t keep barnstorming the back end of the season and easy to work out. Must admit a bit down on them with the latest Martin incident, what a drongo. GWS – Could easily be in Adelaide’s spot. 9 to 12 a crap-shoot. Saints – No clue but Riewoldt has got to be done too hasn’t he, Carlisle to be a big distraction – he will be the Fev of St Kilda. Brisbane – Don’t really know. GC – Culture issues have been exposed, the kids rule the roost, Ablett not able to fix it the culture issues and I think he has lost a step, still going to do amazing things though. Carlton – I rate Bolton (I can’t even hate Carlton as much with his as coach) but this is ground zero. (smiles). Essendon – So glad we didn’t get Worsfold, can’t see him standing up to all the vested interests around the club. The hubris of the EFC board will also see their angst continue (more smiles).
  7. Working well, lots of cool features. Thanks for the time, you can tell that it is a work of love.
  8. It's a while since I heard the stat but i remember being told that AFL has the highest percentage female audience out of any on the contact sports. Let's get behind the development, from a risk/ reward perspective I think it's an easy decision for the club, not like our audiences could get worse and it doesn't take a marketing degree to see that by further involving 50% of the population you are making your brand more attractive for sponsorship. And personally I find watching courage very entertaining, and the girls do play with courage. And on a political level - the reason we as a country are so successful internationally at sport is because of our women. Why is that? Because our culture is tolerant of women playing sport. I like our culture, I want it to win against all the repressive, stupid, ugly, cultures in the world. And I think supporting women playing footy helps (our superior) culture get stronger ( and that it makes us a fairer society).
  9. What I thought was telling in the highlight reel (not mentioned that I can see on the phone) is that when he has or is about to get the ball his team mates take off running on the assumption that he is going to win the contest and deliver the effective disposal. The confidence with which his teammates runs off suggest that they have faith in him, and that he does it regularly. They are not hedging their bets that there might be a turnover. The way he props (as a big fella) selling candy is also huge, if he can keep that up he will upset some defences. His kicking into 50 also looks like it has vision.
  10. An awesome athlete and good bloke, it really makes me think that the stars that burn twice as bright, burn half as long. He had a kidney disease as a result of an (I think mosquito) infection, common to islanders. Nothing to do with Rugby, it was the reason he retired young was risk to kidneys.
  11. I am here in 11th District with my girl-friend and our 3 mth old MFC supporter. We were in a restaurant 300m from the Bataclan attack when it happened and had just driven past the venue in a Uber. Was super impressed with Parisians, shops open this morning, even across the road from the theatre, life going on, people sad but not cowed. French Police, etc, were amazing last night, very calm and professional, all doing their job. Love this place. Was here for a party for the weekend 1st trip since new supporter was born... Also was sad to see scooters and bikes locked to fence outside theatre, obviously belonging to people who can't collect them.
  12. I often find your sage advice a bit bitter (maybe not wrong), bit on this I feel 100% concurrence. In many ways JT suffers from the expectations we put on Watts
  13. Especially if he could pull off a few intercept marks in defense, am still sad he's not there next year playing.
  14. JG - It was a celebration and pretty light hearted. H - was booed and it was ignored by media. Jones' gesture at the end of the game, class! BTW, though he didn't have his best game but played one of his better 'Captains games' in demonstrating intent. Love that the team took a positive step regarding racism and won the game.
  15. I reckon Dawes was owed about 3 free kicks today, he gets a rough run, must be his mouth?
  16. Take the good seats and show him the highlights on the computer, My 5y.o. has been indoctrinated by judicious use of youtube (thanks to all who post highlights) He now yells Demons with the best of them (but is very torn on who his fave player is.) This way you have cake and eat it.
  17. Buckley is close to my favourite part of AFL 360
  18. He chopped Rivers in half with that tackle, apart from everything else which has been said, that brought me to my feet, Rivers is a pretty strong fella and I haven't seen him laid out like that too often.
  19. BTW, Stevie J did a very good dive, on the replay he totally went for it when he felt the hand and the ump was sold the candy.
  20. WATTS: Consecutive Good Games TMAC: Came into Game PICKET FENCE- how much do you want to barrack for someone else? will pay you to have an opinion elsewhere. Am blissing out on the win and read (yes your allowed to have it) opinion and it is a buzz kill.
  21. i don't often read the pre match stuff, but I thought it was interesting to read the other POV, thanks for taking the effort. And also I actually thought it was a reasonably even effort from the Port mob. I myself have arranged internet inside my armoured vehicle as we move from Donetsk to Deniprovotosk so I can watch the bloody game live, I watched the bulldogs game live and didn't jinx it so I think I'm safe. 22. I'm with Qwerty 30, ...Last Won a GF... I like that I feel all of these records can fall within 18 months with Roos in Charge.
