What's Our Most Iconic Number?
Now I hope this becomes true, but I reckon Ben has got ahead of himself... "Gawn inherited the No.37 jumper from Stynes, who presented him with his jumper after being drafted, and switched to the No.11 at the end of the 2014 season in honour of his mentor. The pair would have to be regarded as two of Melbourne's greatest ever ruckmen. - Ben Guthrie" Donald Cordner is ahead of Max for the moment, in my strong opinion.

What's Our Most Iconic Number?
2 Robbie was the soul of the club. As great as he was and is and loved and adored, RDB left, Flower did not. 11 Stynes a close 3rd.

Why is Nev invisible to the umps (and Match Review)
No i was very conflicted about which 5 go 1st, i deeply love Viney, he is heart and soul, this was purely on which names go one the board with permanent marker.Same with Hoges, but i think these 5 are the toughest to replace. If Jones wasnt there then Viney, but for me Jones is still the senior of the two...

Why is Nev invisible to the umps (and Match Review)
always watching, one of my favourite things is seeing him win a 2 on 1, or spoil a bloke who is 10kg/cm bigger in a marking contest. In order of who I would pick 1st for the team he is in top 5. 1. Gawn 2. Oliver 3. Jones 4. Tom McDonald 5. Jetta

Why is Nev invisible to the umps (and Match Review)
Happy for him to laugh, was asking a question, not going to apologize for it, as I said previously, if I'm wrong I'll withdraw, just didn't think decisions his way have been fair and wanted to know if anyone else thought he was short changed and why?

Why is Nev invisible to the umps (and Match Review)
Yeah, because asking (politely) if something might be unfair about race in Australia is on a par with conspiracy theories.

Why is Nev invisible to the umps (and Match Review)
I was at a loss to explain why Nev had not been receiving a fair go from the umps, and was wondering of it was based on unconscious bias re race. The MRP has now made it clear I was wrong and everything is hunky dory... Also for all of you having a go for using the term 'black fella' let me paste the words from one of my favourite Aussie groups the Warumpi Band. Black fella, white fella It doesn't matter, what your color As long as you, a true fella As long as you, a real fella All the people, of different races With different lives, in different places It doesn't matter, what your name is We got to have, lots of changes We need more brothers, if we're to make it We need more sisters, if we're to save it Are you the one that's gonna stand up and be counted Are you the one who's gonna be there when we shout it Are you the one that's always ready with a helping hand Are you the one who understands these family plans Black fella, white fella Yellow fella, any fella It doesn't matter, what your color As long as you, a true fella All the people, of different races With different lives, in different places It doesn't…

Spare me, just quoting one of the milder comments I have heard over the years, or do you really think I endorse that?

When will Melbourne break these embarrassing records?
@praha This needs fixing in your index: Beat North Melbourne - Last win: Round 5, 2006 (14-game losing streak) But there is another record they need to break... I am going to Carlton vs Melbourne this week (flying in from PNG), since 2006 I have not seen a win live, I have been through a marriage and divorce (I took the ex to a terrible game with North), children, and still no win (from 2007 to 2013 I always made an effort to go to a game, but when time home is so precious, organizing to see a loss became demoralizing and stopped - Summer is by far a better time to come home). I really, really, really want the Dees to break my personal hoodoo because otherwise I am going to be the albatross and I won't want to come back for finals. Admittedly I don't travel to the G much, time of year and working outside of Australia.

Why is Nev invisible to the umps (and Match Review)
Nev is stoic, without doubt, and not a sook which is obvious for all to see, It still doesn't explain to me why or justify what I think is a blind spot by officialdom. @daisycutter makes a fair point re proof, but note I use the term 'subconscious racism', because I am not arguing it is deliberate, I just honestly can't find an explanation that fits in the absence of another reason, and am looking to see what people think. I have no idea of how to get into peoples heads and prove anything one way or another, am just positing it, in the absence of a better explanation. I am happy to go with group think on whether people here think Nev gets a fair go? and if anyone else thinks he cops alot of dubious hits. If it is my bias to a player who I am a huge fan of then well, I will withdraw.

Why is Nev invisible to the umps (and Match Review)
I think Nev has demonstrated outstanding durability for the heavy physical work he does, but I am really over seeing him getting whacked with little or no consequence and reckon the club should ask a question about it. Last season it was a feeling, and this season I think it is something else. Except for one free yesterday, I think Nev gets bashed from pillar to post and doesn't get the frees he deserves and that quite a few of the shots he cops have been deserving of sanction. He has had concussion issues in his history and I would hate to see him finish before his time. Now I know I'll probably get yelled down for throwing petrol on embers, but I almost think the umpsMRP/MRO have a little subconscious racism, along the lines of ' he's a black fella and can cope'. I am at a loss to explain it any other way. I don't see him as someone who gives the umpires a earful either (the occasional grumble maybe) so that he has lost friends amongst officialdom. Anyway @Fairgo4Nev I reckon.

The Jesse Incident
Happy that Patton/Watson/McCartin/Boyd are in the spotlight ATM, feels like the focus has moved away from Jesse, thankfully, the incident is now firmly in the rearview. Jesse I think has really earn't some pats on the back for dealing with all the grief thrown at him and also his body language on the field has also improved out of sight. I seriously wouldn't swap him for any of these other 4.

Peter Jackson stepping down
Certainly my experience that externals feel the need to put their fingerprints on things for the sake of it. I don't think PJ has kept to many muppets at the club, it hasn't been riven by leaks, if the said any of the three names mentioned I would be willing to place trust in that. Although that said, 30 and only marketing experience makes me nervous. Mahoney would be my choice, (which means not much-but I feel like he communicates effectively).

Post Match Discussion - Round 7
This is not the Fab Five, If i might humbly propose we call our midfield the 'Hunters & Collectors' (eight contested ball winners, get it?), on our way to the Holy Grail, (Although somedays I think I am going to be as old as the 'Grail Knight' in the Indiana Jones film by the time we salute..) Viney, Oliver, Brayshaw, Hogan, Salem, Petracca, Jones and Tyson
-
Changes vs Gold Coast
It is GC, actually a good team for Viney to play against, reckon he can skip VFL. Jeffy needs to prove he should be there. Hunt saved by his run, Salem I read was a busted thumb (@ base)? is this correct he is going to need a few needles for that a bowman's fracture is nasty... Weid stays, i'm tipping he will kick 3.
-
What is the Weid's role
What I love is that normally when you try three tall fwds you get burnt by the lack of mobility. However for us having Hogan and Tmac who are both super mobile we have created a match up nightmare for the opposition. This is only going to get better.

Post Match Discussion - Round 7
You're probably right, but I live in hope the fittness department can weave the same magic they did with Tommy McD, is about time 4two6 didn't equal half a season..
