There is going to be more movment on the backline than you're suggesting. Troy Davis will be pushing up soon for one.

Jayceebee31, Maybe I'm having a seniors moment but you say Tom MacDonald marked over Brown. Who is Brown? What number?
-
I recall Tom MacDonald's marking in an early practice match against the Lions at Carlton. Was really impressed. I haven't seen him much since. Wasn't he picked in the 50's. Just shows you one shouldn't underestimate lower picks.

Surely would have been enough room in the box to give Mick a seat.

I care not if others respect us or not. We must respect ourselves and the rest can do as they please. I stand for the red and blue and am happy about it.

Convince me Jack Fitzpatrick will make it
Harrisonrules replied to DeeSpencer's topic in Melbourne Demons
Fitzpatrick drafted 2009 suffering Chronic Fatigue. Has suffered some significant injuries and people want to delist him. Cloke drafted 2004 has just arrived (7 years) Dawes, Reid and Hawkins all drafted in 2006. After 5 years these guys just arriving. Obviously the originator of this thread knows little about the challenge of being a tall key position and the time it takes to make it. -

You write well, but you spend to much time at the computer. You've just blown your reputation master. There are to many holes in your article to give it much credence -
This will test the intelligence and civility of our supporter base.. Demonland often sinks to depths by people who know little about football and positive communication. What a great opportunity we have. We can make it work or we can shoot ourself in the foot. Are we all so dumb that we can not respect our coach and add to a good club ethos?

I have been a great Jarrod Rivers fan. Great Reader of the game. One of the best marks in our team, but the sad reality is the game is athletically passing him by. He has always been a metre slow when the pressure is on, but has been able to cover it by his ability to read the game well, now it is becoming increasingly difficult for him to do this as the game becomes faster and teams require players not only to outrun opposition to get the ball but also be able to run out of the backline. He was always a medium tall but as we saw against Collingwood the tall forwards are getting taller and more athletic. He is okay against the modest teams but against the elite, like many of our players, lacks the size and athleticism that is necessary. Future is limited and I don't believe he will be around when we hit our straps.

I'd be open to Gary Ayres as Defense coach

Moving on would mean de-listing, trading is a very inprecise activity. I doubt whether the club would have initially planned to get rid of Cheney last year, but open discussion can lead to the unexpected. To delist Bate and Dunne is a risk given our young list, to trade depends on whether anyone wants someone supporters deem no good at Melbourne for maybe pick 60. Does that offer a better option than experience. What would we want to give up for a quality player, pick 12? Otherwise forget it.

Jack Watts panelist on The Footy Show tonight

I guess a lot didn't support Deans methods -
Is this just confirming the speculative rumour or fact

Now that Tom has gone, (yawn) compensation picks announced, all players signed, the initial press feast on our admin has passed I am confident that there will be a good spirit in the club and player group (Tom was probably more disruptive than we think - not necessarily intentional). I'm looking forward to a Harry Kewell style of arrival for our new coach - whoever - and rekindle the passion that was building two years ago. We've got the main ingredient, a great group of players. I challenge all demonlanders to get off the critical band wagon, get behind all of our players, whether you like some or not. We can contribute to our club spirit along with the many other contributers. No team or club is perfect, but believe even the demon weak links are better than the opposition - Regroup!! The cup is in our hands, however you look at it...

I share similar sentiments with the latter part. I think most of our trading virtually VFL players is pie in the sky. At best they would give us picks after 50 for any of them. The package theory has proved to be a failure for new clubs in the past. Freemantle got 3 ordinary bombers for Matthew Lloyd. Recruiters have learnt.

Turn him off

Bruce was injured most of this year. You are a low grade supporter. He is out injured this week. Tdhe club didn't really want another great servant of the club. I suggest you look at his record. I hope he gets his reward at the Hawks, he deserves it in my opinion

This will help you believe what? Early in the year I outlined the logic of him going. His sentimental attachment to melbourne was virtually nil. Within five or ten minutes several were horrified and called for the withdrawal of my thread. It was removed by the moderators. My opinion has not changed. I believe he is going. The wait for the announcement is purely Sheedy's way of manipulating the announcements to now keep GWS in the media. Toms will come in Sheedy's time. So if I am wrong what does that prove? I have a different opinion than Sue? So what. I thought this forum was about opinions. You win some and you lose some. That's football. Millions of opinions, very little thats right or wrong. I'm 100% convinced he's gone.

I wrote a month ago that Carlton's Swan will already have chatted to Malthouse and come to a heads of agreement decision to step in as soon as Ratton slips, or at least when the blues perceive him to slip with a little help from his friends
