Far to many glass half empty supporters on this forum. Enough positives this year to give me hope and confidence on the future.

To early for trades. We've still got plenty of kids to develop. We'll trade when we know what we want.

Totally disagree. Rivers is one of our better marks, judgement and hands. Unfortunatley playing on the very talls to often means he cann't always display this skill. Bate is an ordinary contested mark most of the time. He can not jump. God hands in uncontested situation. None the less I'd keep him for other reasons. Watts has markingpotential but not at the top of his game at the moment

Thank goodness compulsive supporters don't guide our team

I believe we needed greater pace in midfield ahead of tall forwards. We have them in the making

Improvement is one good thing, but the impact of that player is another important factor. ie. whose improvement has had the greatest impacted on the team performance.

Howe shouldn't be forgotten

MFC Memberships - how many lost to MCC ?
Harrisonrules replied to Winter Dan's topic in Melbourne Demons
I believe their are figures available. I think we might be pushing 50,000 if the regular active attenders all did sign up. All MCC members are not the so called wealthy. Many families are members because we all love it and we want our families to enjoy the pleasure. But financially that starts mounting up. Unfortunately it doesn't leave lots over for the MFC. I think if you contacted the club, either football or cricket you would get some current info. -
I'm with you. A few years ago the push was for McLean and Jones. Little point on pushing a youngster to early

Heavy culling is for people who have given up on development. Melb has made a serious commitment to development. I don't believe there will be any heavy culling. Trades will be applicable in about 3 years times when we know how enough of our young kids have progressed and we know what we want. eg Pies, Ball Jolly Brown Tarrant Krakour

You got nothing to add, move on.

We've got all the hard bodied mids we need, far too many, we are slow, hands feet and minds.

There is a common cry from many on demonland for greater hardness at the ball, and tackle count. So be it they are valuable qualities, but basic. I don't believe that stat is what wins the game. Putting aside 'goals on the board'as the stat at the top of the list, I always like checking metres gained. Sylvia usally heads our list but great to see Sam Blease and Col Garland up there this week What's your pet stat?

Ablett 28 possessions. Too many keep the bar to low on Bartram.
-
Would be interesting for someone to start up a dossier of inexperienced coaches with priorty rating, in case the experienced crew aren't chosen
-
In two years time, Howe and Petterd will be a major force in our forward line. Both have a range of skills very hard to find in the one player.

We have a low bar. Bartram keeping Cotchin to mid teen possessions? and Kerr to similar, both of whom still kicked goals needs to be compared with Hawks Lewis who himself did similar to Judd but also collected 30 possessions himself. The difference between expectations of a mid to low level team and top four team. The obvious is stunning, but many still in denial over Bartrams significance

For a few fleeting moments I felt an effervescent emotional release when Todd Viney moved Col Garland to the forward line in the third quarter. We were desperate for something different and he tried it. For four bl.....dy years Dean refused to try something like this ( except for our Richmond tanking effort but which resulted in us overtaking them...a real slip up). How often me and my mates yelled for him to try something different. For the short experiment I sat up taller in my seat feeling some emotional release and excitement that it really was possible to approach the game differently. Well we didn't quite get over the line, but at least I walked away from the ground wondering what other adventurous or innovative moves our new temporary coach has up his sleave. I'll certainly be there next week with a little more anticipation.

I certainly have believed Melbourne should do everything it can do to persuade Mick Malthouse to come to Melbourne, although there is something about him that doesn't sit well with me. None the less football is football and you take what you can for some advantage. I have been intrigued by the shift in his conversation from that which we saw on the "footy show" which seemed to me to be saying, 'come and get me if you want me', to the conversation a few weeks later which became adamant that he was definitely staying at Collingwood. Yes of course there is a premiership to be won and it won't take much to make the 'colli' - wobble. So get rid of any distraction seems wise. However, could there be another thread working its way out in his mysterious mind. I have suggested elsewhere that there will be no positions available next year on current reading of coaching positons in Melbourne. Yes it is speculative. The most vulnerable will be Ratten. The blues are progressing well toward there peak, yet the bluebaggers just don't seen to be totally convinced about him. You get the feel that one significant slip and he's out. And who would they turn to? of course Mickey the Magpie. The Key to this is naturally Swan once a magpie now at the blues. He did it with Judd, ie created a shame process. I would bet my bottom dollar he has already been speaking to MM. The message would be clear. Quieten down, finish your year, you will be here with us, before you can say, "I'll show you Eddie".

I'm prepared to stick with, Fitzpatrick, Cook and T MacDonald. We only need one of these to come good. Our window is five years away. I see our biggest problem is the mid field. We are well below the top midfield teams

Have you heard of a guy called Howe from Dodgers Ferry
-
Tackle count is not the measure of hardness. It usually means you are second to the ball.
-
Which is more important to you, a breaking story or an accurate story.

All the requirements listed above equals, new coach
