i DON'T RECALL HOW MANY TIMES I YELLED OUT TO GET SOME CRUMBERS AROUND THE THREE WHO FLEW FOR THE MARK. THEY WERE THE ONLY ONES TO PICK UP THE CRUMBS.
-
Game plan is Bailey's archillies heal. We and the media argue over it every week. Irrespective of what we each think. The next two months are crunch time. The club has to make a decision based on what we know now, not maybes. The decision may be confusing, but decision must be made on what we assess from the last four years of Bailey. The next three years are crucial. I call them platform years and will determine how well we set ourselves up. Then come the 1st window years, the 7th to 10th years of Bailey. Do we give Bailey three more years to see and if we then decide know, get a new coach as our window years open up. The next two months are big months for our club as we have to make a decision now based on the information we have now. Right or Wrong, the board must decide now. CRUNCH TIME

And maybe a bit of the old John Kennedy rhetoric..... Just do,do do do do do do.. A Coach with a different attitude eh

I have great hopes for Jack Fitz. See him along with cookie and Tom Mac as three great tall options who might verywell establish themselves over the next few years
-
So you know how far he ran on the day compared to other players. Until you get the facts stop bagging one of our players with your vague impressions that does not stack up with the facts. He runs far further than many in every game. Contact the club for the proper information

Total Crapp. You've determined an opinion before the game starts and cann't see the great good he does.

The Good Hit outs,, 50 to 25 Martin 25 Gawn 25. Pies 25.. Not all landed on the chest of Demons, but you could see the attempt of Gawn to work on this side of his game. It will come The Bad Amonst others the umpires decision to fail to pay Howe his great mark on the members wing. I thought boundary umpires were authorised to direct central umpires when they were unsighted. The Ugly Many have criticised Davey and Bennell for holding back on backing into packs. But courageous Bartram looked ugly when he pulled out of attempting to mark against the flow.(on the corner of the centre square in front of the members. Any player will do it at some time. Ugly but understandable.

Where will these guys play next year?
Harrisonrules replied to Dee-licious's topic in Melbourne Demons
We have many runners but few of the size of Morton. Injuries have slowed his career down. He has a broad range of skills which will enable him to fulfil his elite status in time. Short sightedness to lose him. Very hard to expect to trade him for anything near his value. Petterd plays at the moment one of the hardest positions on the field small forward. When our team collapses the small forward suffers most and usually carries the can. On those occassions backmen can camoflage their poor game with inflated statistics because the game is all in their half. Petterd has abnormally good pace off the mark (how often does he mark mtrs in front of his opponent) and elite spring (a small who plays tall). Once again you don't find someone with these skills easily. He can be a multigoal scorer because he's got what a lot of others don't. In my op would be tragic/foolhardy to let him go. Very poor list management. -
What's your nickname....Happy chappy

You need, players, balance of players, system, oval ball luck, etc. Sadly its not just players and instinct/motivation which once made the game so much more exciting.

It's great when a team has success and stokes its burning embers to alight its self belief. I felt filled with optomism following the bombers clash - but more so for the future than the immediate future. Yes, dare we think of a repeat of last year's magic efforts against the maggies. What about the loss of a few of their stars, surely that should help. Maybe, but the problem is football is more about the system than the individuals. Our individuals might come close to matching their's but I no longer have the opinion that that is enough. Our system has been our weakness and the pies system has been their strength. They are far better and more disciplined than they were this time last year. Now they have enormous self belief, last year it was still growing. This will be an enormous test for us and I'm inclined it is a pity we play them just now. Am I throwing cold water over our hopes. Probably but I'm really interested in making a more accurate assesment of where we are at. I am trying to set a more realistic assesment because you build a more solid base on acurate progressive assessment that blind faith. I want to see how we are coping with a systems approach, if we can hold them with a sound defensive effort, and similarly pressure them with a systematic attack i'll be building on the hope generated last week. Without systems these days you can jump a team like the questionable bombers, but not the likes of the pies and cats.

So the accusation by Mick Malthouse came harshly out of the blue when he accused Adam Maric's inquisitive appeal for a goal out of a sea of flailing legs. He waited for the umpires decision and didn't overly press the point. Discussion proceeded through the following week on the media rasing the question of cheating or gamesmanship. This week Dale Thomas was pinged for punching - one match - and several days later when the Pies' heirarchy - presumably including M and M - had had a chance to come up with a story which bore no resemblance to what one could see on TV, they appealed. Of course it was unsuccessful. Are such things cheating or gamesmanship? Of the two cases - Maric or Thomas - I know which I thought was closer to cheating. Whether on the field at the G or in the members they certainly know how to grow big mouths down at maggie land.

Thanks for the humour

We all develop favourite players and as we saw last week there are a lot of players showing they are potentially able to perform at this level. Every week there will be disappointed players and similarly disappointed supporters who see their favourite player dropped. But the competition will drive the club forward and lets not forget its about THE RED AND BLUE. So when analysing player performance and preference be constructive, don't lower your own colours.

Bartram is as good a runner as anybody, but one of worst kicks in team and a very slow mind with ball in hand. Rarely beaten is questionable, I think he is going to be slowly pushed as more and more get there chance and show they are a far better kick. It's going to be tough on a number of players. 30 odd just doesn't go into 22 without the help of injuries.
-
Bartram is no longer a walk up start. Competition is growing across the board.

Sounds like the usual wind effected game down Sandy.

Don't you love them

It's ok to give your opinions. Everybody has different ones. But can you not see that you have said nothing that enlightens, just trash others.

It will be one of the biggest decisions the club has to make as the season progresses. Last night was thrilling because it displayed our young talent and there is so much there. Our three significant games this year, Swans, Adelaide, Bombers displayed not only talent but motivation and good team system. Swans were the first game and you would hope we would be motivated. Adelaide and we had been 'bashed' by the media for our insipid display against the Coast. Bombers followed the bruise free debacle against the Blues and subsequent media humiliation. When we are humiliated and criticised, Yes we come out motivated. At least in these moments of glory we salivate in the potential. Linking, potential talent, motivation, contemporary game style, and Dean Bailey is the great challenge. Getting it right or wrong could have great repercussions

How many times have you been on the bash Bennell theme. Lift your own game.
-
Forget the childish stuff. Demonland is the arch childish rubbish
-
Harmes, need we say anymore.
-
You bag people for not putting in, then bag those who do. You need to sought out what you really think. At this stage its not overly enlightened

Youre sounding like a broken record. Just because you have it in for him, the rest of us don't have to put up with your prejudices all the time. Say something insightful
