I am sure Jonesy would have been honoured to be captain, but he is in the leadership group and shows it where it matters most, on the field
-
The problem is a lot of the 'speculation' is put forward as fact, not even opinion, and if you dare to question the fact you are berated, the only thing I am saying is there is enough negativity around our club at the moment, without us adding to it,. If you don't know the facts then don't broadcast them, but on the other end we would make a good one sided five minute segment on Today Tonight at the moment
-
They are allowed to provide comment? depends on your definition of comment, in regard to a player being soft why are they getting a game, they can't kick, no good under pressure.that is not comment that is criticism, and if you are going to critiicise you need to know what you are talking about otherwise it is just a lot of hot air I am highly experienced in a certain field of work, and I can pick somebody who doesn't know what they are saying or doing, so therefore the same thing applies..."if u aint dun it, how do u know"

"to be honest, I wouldn't care less if Cale Morton or Jack Watts confronted me. Both have the intimidation equal to Nikki Webster" Puffing out your keyboard again. I personally don't look at stats, I just want to see them have a crack, if they don't I walk away disappointed but front up the next week anyway, last time I looked the game was played by young guys who beneath the guernsey are human beings This is not aimed at you Freak in particular But if you are somebody who feels the need to continually whinge, berate, criticise, belittle etc, then you do really need to look inwards first I am all for venting one's frustrations, but criticism is much better received if it is constructive, and as I have said in other topics, unless behind your nickname you are a player of 1 to 200 games of AFL football or you have coached at that level....what would you know? I am prepared and waiting to be enlightened

I have actually restrained myself from posting in any of the topics from the last couple of days, some of which I find very hard to believe, and I don't want to be banned Saturday, in Mountain View pub, surrounded by supporters of both Essendon and Richmond, myself and my partner left at half time, our choice, but will be back at the G this Sunday to support our team, we always will If you have had enough of supporting Melbourne, THEN DON'T, it is that simple, it is a game of footy, nobody dies, some of the posters really do need to take a look at themselves and at what they have posted, some of the personal attacks have been rude, obnoxious, libelous, defammatory etc etc But of course you can hide behind a 'nickname', safe in the knowledge that you will not be confronted by a highly embaressed, [censored] off, angry player who is looking for somebody to hit to take out the frustration they feel, if I was one Jack Watts this is what I would be looking to do I have no idea what is wrong with the team at the moment, but we have a Board, Administration and Footy Dept who will give it their best shot to get it right, everything changes. It may be the players, coaching staff etc, only those involved have any real idea, I have an opinion but I will not thrust it down everybody's throats as the truth which is what happens on this board I love this 'impeccable source', if you are a player/administrator etc of MFC, come out from behind your nickname and say so, if you don't it is rumour, innuendo or hearsay......the only impeccable source we have on this board is Cam Schwab when he comes on here to kill off some other ridiculour rumour, check the posts you will find them I actually support Everton in the EPL, every year we have an horrendous start, but eventually get it together, we have not actually won anything major for a while, but you can see that is changing....and we will .and the Club has had the balls to stand by Manager David Moyes through everything coz they can see the future, but they have done it with integrity and not sold out Stick with MFC, we will get there

Try this analogy.......between the ages of 18 and 25 many many many years ago, I served in the Military along with a lot of other 18 to 25 year olds, we were deadly serious all the time, NOT.....we were 18 to 25 FCS.serious when we had to be......this is footy, when we lose by 60 points nobody dies...the sun comes up the next day.........Mr Darcy put up an opiniion, like he is entitled to do, but nobody has to agree with it.............but it can be perpetuated......as for the culture question.......this word 30 years ago stood for art galleries and fine brandy.....these days it is a buzz word alongside such other rubbish as synergy.....it means nothing to me in the work environment and nothing in footy......
-
You can recognise one can you, so you have to hide behind your keyboard and whack them. This is the whole point, a lot of posters on here have never and I mean never played the game at a decent level, have absolutely no idea of what it takes to be an AFL footballer, especially when you are thrust into it full time at 17 or 18 when most other males of that age are only interested in a beer and mini skirt or to be correct a beer and a tight pair of leather trousers. But that doesn't stop them putting up groundless opinion, yes you are entitled to it, but when challenged you have to back up why you have that opinion. If you can't back it up then don't opine it, Jack Watts uses his brain instead of his muscle a lot of the time, but he is still learning and I believe he will get there, yes it occassionally looks like he is shirking a contest, but unless you are inside his head, you have no idea what is going through there......I am sure he knows if he does not lift his game defensively he is going to be playing the next few games at Casey.....

Everyone Stand Up And Applaud Mark Neeld
satyricon replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
Neither, but everybody is entitled to their opinion, my opinion is the Board and the Football Dept have taken on board the fact that we want success to be more than a flash in the pan, it needs to continue year by year, playing finals year by year, if that takes a bit more pain then so be it, Mark Neeld is trying to do his bit, but he also inherited a playing list, he is quietly working his way through, let's see what happens at the end of the season. Essendon are flying at the moment, because Hird has had a year to two to build and set the standard.......Alwyn Davey, Ricky Dyson, Tom Bellchambers even Brett Stanton are barely recognisable from the players they were two years ago, they have bought in, Neeld is trying to do the same but make it long lasting, if you don't buy in you are gone.....I like it -
Everyone Stand Up And Applaud Mark Neeld
satyricon replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
Gee, had to wade through 9 pages to actually get to this one, well said.Paul,, it is a really good Epistle For anybody who doesn't want to tighten the grip on the rail, don't watch/listen/write/espouse opinions, come back in a couple of years when it is less for the faint hearted and jump back on the wagon I am 100% behind Mark Neeld because I am 100% behind MFC -
Oh no Magner not a gun after 6 games of AFL, he may as well go back to the VFL then Ok chaps take a deep breath, here are the midfield rotation possibilities, including Viney and maybe others if they stay or go depending on which tattle you read Viney Moloney Sylvia Bate Jones Howe Trengove Morton Watts Petterd (who has been rotating through the midfield at Casey to get used to it) Grimes Bail Gysberts Couch Taggert Blease Magner McKenzie Evans (injury permitting) Tapscott Green Tynan Jetta We have had a few them who have played 6 repeat 6 games with the new rotations through the midfield, please let them get used to it, it is getting better and better each week, and on top of that maybe next year we will have a choice of 3 or 4 very mobiile rucks with Jamar, in Martin, Spencer, Gawn and Fitzpatrick So not a bad list all in all, let's get Daniel Rich from Brisbane everyone on here wanted him a couple of years, hasn't quite developed has he....prefer the devil I know and trust MFC to develop
-
I assume by the comment above you must face the wrong way when watching the footy not to 'see'....apart from the great job he did on Scarlett in the 2nd half on Saurday And Jetta NO way.....have you an explanation as to why
-
For everybody asking about why Couch has not been given a game, this from the Casey review Tom Couch: Couch was again really strong around the stoppages and contested situations. He’s still looking to develop areas of his game to get him to AFL level Obviously they think he still needs a bit of work, but the incentive is there
-
I love reading some of the posts for the changes, occassionally they are a good laugh, "Fitz is not the answer, every time he plays for the rednblue he looks terrible" Do you mean the 1 game he has played? As for Petterd, he is not playing that brilliantly for Casey, that is the proviso for getting a game methinks, although I think in the Couch case, they have him working on a few things before elevation, The only change I can see is either Martin/Fitzy for Sellar, if you watch Neeldy at the press conference post game, he praised Magner for trying to nullify Scarlett in the second half, listen to the words he uses, don't think he thought Sellar was providing that in the first half so he may go.
-
Why all this, didn't expect him to play....., he was allegedly involved in an assault, which he vehemently denies, innocent until proven guilty the wrist injury did not heal properly which it now has he has been running miles at training, I know coz I have seen him do it...I expected him back a bit sooner...but this weekend will do
-
From the sight unseen list, suggest after watching both of them at Junior Level and one in the games last year Cook - who is as good as they originally said and why we drafted him, just had a bit of a run with injury Taggert - Club was really pleased to grab him when we did, he will surprise
-
It is quite simple, Melbourne have to better the tackle count from last week, in fact better every stat, and lift the effort again.... If you go to training you will see they are bustin their balls to improve........we will........ McKenzie will go to Selwood McDonald will go to Johnson, Stevie J does so much work off the ball these days creating space for the big lumps to run into Bartram to whichever small forward they go for, with Grimes on the other (Motlop and Christensen methinks) Reckon Morton will get Kelly Trengove will be tagged by Taylor Hunt

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY
satyricon replied to einstein251's topic in Melbourne Demons
I have watched Jack play and train quite a few times.....this analogy will suit...."a Bulldozer who can kick", why must we always look at the glass half empty.....he would be a top draft pick anyway.....but then we will probably end up comparing him with anybody who was drafted in the last 10 years who puts a few good games together that we should have picked...here are a few examples of where me may have got it right Hurley - always picking up little soft tissue injuries Rich - has not progressed as everybody thought he would, does not dominate Darling - let's see how he goes without Kennedy, must be good to be behind Kennedy, Lynch and Cox as the choice to kick to NicNat - lovely highlight reel, but Kreuzer any day if we could have got him, does not do enough around the ground and personally don't think he ever will Jack Viney will be a great player for MFC, same as Jack Watts, Jack Trengove and Jack Grimes and Jack Fitzpatrick, five Jacks in a hand will beat anything.... And on his younger brother to quote Todd when I asked him "Jack is the [censored], Max is a ball player" -
All the analysis is doing my head in as well, it is simple.......there are boorish idiots everywhere in life, they love the sound of their own voice.....they have probably failed at everything they have tried.....we should pity them.....or tell them to shut up.. This bit from Trident lighttened it up and made me laugh.......here is a suggestion go to a Casey game vs Port Melb if you get the chance, at Port's home ground....sit behind what looks like two middle aged sisters from the front of knitting pattern packet....one has a shoppiing trolley from which she produces a never endling supply of home made food all day...hair permed to within a inch of it's life...they are Port supporters... But...they spend the two hours abusing everybody and everything...and the language is 'colourful' to say the least..... .Jack Trengove and Luke Tapscott had the pleasure of walking past them at the end of the game we went to and were on the end of a gobful each...and they were only watching the game!!!!!!
-
It is not about sterilizing or homogenising.....it is about what is the point of personally abusing somebody, unless the person doing it is the type of person who will get a rise out of a certain appendage by doing it.......and aggression is necessary in life,,,,really...that is a nice indictment on modern society

Here is a bit from me on 3 players mentioned above Sheahan, spent half an hour with him handing out scarves before Bulldogs game, shattered when he missed the draft, not sure why thought he had had a good year, pleased to be with MFC, enjoying the VFL, needs to put on weight, learning heaps, wouldn't mind playing forward, but knows why he is playing back. Personal opinion after seeing him play, may have another gem on our hands Cook, spoke to him at Family Day, at least 10Kg short of weight he needs to be, gets [censored] off coz he keeps picking up injuries, not helped by still growing, Club is trying to develop body at 'natural' pace. Personal again, has not lost the ability which is the reason we drafted him, 5 goals in comeback game, yes lower level but he kicked them, just wants to play and finds it funny even at his height he can be the invisible man Lawrence, spoke to him a couple of times at training, the Club want consistent effort week in week out, concentrating on building his engine so he can pressure the whole game, note this was highlighted in one posters comments, loves to be able to sneak up on defenders and nail them, or have them looking over their shoulder for where he is, wants so much to make it. Personal opinion, think Leigh Brown wants him to make it as well, from time he nearly broke him in half 'patting' him on the back when he caused a turnover at training, if he sticks with it, could be that next small forward to shine

I actually like this thread, it backs up what i have been saying, there are some supporters out there who actually seem to love to wallow in the misery all the time, they think the light they see at the end of the tunnel is the train!!, why do they go to games, don't bother, and even don't buy a membership, I am sure we could miss out on about the 10 or 20 I have actually heard in the last few years Everybody gets frustrated with the way we play sometimes, but unless you want to come out from behind your 'nickname' and identify yourself as an ex VFL/AFL player who played more than one game......you have your opinion on certain players and you are entited to it, but not all of us agree with continually bagging them.....keep it to yourself, I jump straight over any post that contains crap like that, so I may miss something good you have to say. On Joel Mac, I spoke to Jade Rawlings about him, said he needs to nickname him 'Crazy Horse' after a former soccer player for Liverpool called Emlyn Hughes...he would rush everywhere at 100mph, make horrendous howlers, but he would time and time again put his body on the line to stop a goal....and occasionally do something completely amazing, to me that is Joel Mac and he can put you on a roller coaster each time he gets the ball, but he is fun to watch, remember footy is fun I sat in front of a so called supporter in Darwin last year who did the same thing to Cale Morton, but in this case, I turned around pretty early and told him to shut up if he didn't have anything good to say, as he was supposedly there 'supporting'...he did

x2...

I take it because you are so shattered by all of the above you are not goimg to games anymore or watching on the telly....but you can come on here and comment...have you made a complaint to the Club..I speak to them all the time and they listen, Cam Schwab reads this board as well.......I am disappointed by our start but have total faith in the club....try speaking to Kelly O, he has probably forgotten more about football than the rest of us will ever know........
-
I believe there is still one vacancy amongst the recruiting staff at MFC, so assume all the gurus on this board, who can pick a Brownlow winner at 17 will apply for it!!!
-
Martin was not dropped, he has a few issues with his hip playing up, assume it wasn't up to this week, I actually spoke to him a couple of weeks ago and he was very disappointed it's picked now to play up, he had an op on it a couple of years ago, if posters must vent their spleen, then at least get the facts correct....and.... Lynden Dunn was given a job in the second half to stop Bob Murphy who was cutting us up in the 1st Half, he had 18 or so touches in the 1st and 6 in the second, I wonder who stopped that, try watching the game and listening to what the coach has to say... Yes I am as disappointed as the next poster that we lost, but I have never and will never bag individual players, it is a team game, notice Matty Bate got away with it this week and Morton, what's wrong posters....did they play well?
