  1. Skill: Flower Toughness: Barassi Courage: Barassi Leadership: Barassi
  2. Right, the girls must be keen on Laurie Mithen and Brian Dixon! Or have I had a long sleep?
  3. RONALD DALE BARASSI To have seen him play was an experience never to be forgotten. Others would be Don Williams, Robert Flower and The Whiz. Could have mentioned me but I'm too modest.
  4. Would Mitch Banner be a good pickup for us? He is still very young and would be happier back in his home State. He was also pretty impressive as a junior. What do people think? HE WOULD BRING LEADERSHIP TO THE CLUB AS HE WAS CAPTAIN OF THE WINNING VIC METRO TEAM. Played with Wattsy, Blease and $cully to name just a few.
  5. Sorry to see Bate go. I always reckon he had a go and was up to it in ability. Ricky didn't seem to have his heart in his play last season. Wish them and the others "Good luck'. Cook was a funny one. Not even one game in two seasons. He would have to feel they didn't let him show what he could or couldn't do on the big stage.
  6. Simply put, we have recruited brilliantly. Some older heads and hard bodies with proven ability to complement our existing kids on our list. A great blending of youth and experience. Panic not, we will be successful on the playing field. You 'doubting Thomas's' get behind the club instead of rubbishing it. Go Demons Go!
  7. An excellent selection. He will add some spark and pace to our struggling mid field. Always thought he was a good player. He will excite Bruce because he is Fijian like Nik Nat!!
  8. Also great to see Aaron Davey out there obviously keen to get started and looking relaxed and composed. Here's hoping we can see once again the spark that he showed in his first years at the club.
  9. My best half back line would be Don Williams Gary Hardeman Noel McMahen. A monumental brick wall.
  10. Add Noel McMahen to this list. He was so,so tough. He and Donny Williams were unbeatable.
  11. No,No! a thousand times NO! We MUST get two high quality young MID FIELDERS in this draft. Nothing less will do. Wellingham has proven ability and could be useful, BUT, if Melbourne doesn't interest him then he can move back to the West and join the Weagles.
  12. Yes, finally the red fox has been honoured. John Landy and Herb Elliot must be in line to join the other greats around the 'G'.
  13. Well done SOUTH MELBOURNE!!!!!
  14. Yes, he didn't light up the G tonight or last week or the week before did he? RR's superstar attained 4 kicks and 8 handballs for the imposing tally of 12 possessions. As I have said many times NN is an athlete but his football skills for an AFL player are sadly lacking. He also has little idea of reading the play. Maybe basketball for Nick. Wattsy for me now there's a bloke who CAN play Football.
  15. No, I'm entirely the one to blame. As a greedy teenager, I grabbed all those premierships leaving none for later on and you guys. Once a Demon always a Demon. I shifted over to live in Perth in 1976 and a few of my old mates in Melbourne ask me if I've adopted the Eagles or Dockers. I laugh and answer, " Mate, I put the Weagles on the same level of hate as I have for Collingwood. My weekend is made when they lose. Go Dees!!!!!
  16. Looks like you just missed out on remembering 1964 'belzebub'. I guess we don't remember things when we were just 4 years of age. The good news though is that you still have plenty of time to experience the thrill of winning the premiership.
  17. I guess Cam mentioned the fact that Melbourne were wooden spooners in 1951 winning just one game. It was against Carlton though! Then in 1954 were runners up and then we know the rest with premiership after premiership. Oh, I do feel for you young forum members who have not tasted ultimate success. Maybe not just the very young too. Let's hope we recruit really well with two outstanding mid fielders a must IMO.
  18. I thought that too. No disrespect to Grimesy but Jonesy was miles ahead all season IMO. Great to see Tom McDonald do so well also. I was a bit surprised at Garland's high placing as I thought he had a disappointing season overall. Again that's only my thoughts and not the people who award the votes. Well done Nathan you were a most deserving winner.
  19. I too want to see premierships but that won't happen until we learn to play with the same ferocity as Sydney Swans. Every single one of their players is just so fearless and fanatical. They haven't got a lot of stars but you know the old slogan," A champion team will beat a team of champions". Gee, I am so envious when I watch how they tackle and attack the ball. No, I'm not changing my loyalty just wishing our beloved Demons could emulate them.
  20. That win over the Bombers was my highlight. Almost like winning a premiership! Did enjoy McDonald's progress, Jonesy's titanic efforts and Howe's hangers. Sam Blease too gave me hope for the future and don't even think about writing off Jack Watts. Jack will be the goods don't you worry.
  21. I liked the report when it said that 'wonder boy' AMASSED 11 disposals. WOW! RR would be so proud.
  22. What? These figures can't be right. Melbourne with a net profit of over $6,000,000 in 2011. More than any other club mentioned. Haven't we just got out of debt?
  23. Yes, very foolish or clumsy of Neitz. He should have stayed in his forward zone. Jeff had a wry smile as if to thank him. Just forming a pack forcing a ball up would have seen the siren blow. There were only a few seconds left when the free was given. Never mind, I still haven't seen a Demon victory over here in Perth but I'll be there tonight urging the boys on.
