  1. Watts in NT news Photo of a high flying watts in the NT news.
  2. The steam is out of the thread now he has proven himself. Looks like the illusive 1000 wont be reached. No more Nic Nat paddy whack why didn't we pick them bones. So close but watt is left to say.
  3. Dont forget we will have bate as well. the set up of miller Bate and Watts will be interesting.
  4. I agree our commitment to our indiginous players and their extended families is really fantastic and important. I hope we see more of it. Other clubs are getting involved as well which is a credit to them. Perhaps the AFL should be consider more games up there (with a special rule to deal with the conditions like a shorter or set time for each quarter).
  5. Maybe just maybe that dill Parkin will stop the attitude thing. My observations on th TV were much the same he wants to play and is a team player. I like the way he works with Miller. His hands are so quick. "billy the kid" quick.
  6. A couple of years ago I got seats amongst the Geelong Members once, my mate (from Geelong) wanted me there to bag me out all day. We won by a kick after the siren. One of the great days of my life.
  7. he lacks spatial awareness which may come with time on field.
  8. I am sick to the stomach with the umpiring and the stupid strip they wore! As for Lake why is it teams who we beat or run close claim they played badly, pathetic. They dont believe we are any good. Guess they are all in for a shock as the ynext 2 years play out.
  9. Recently had the same discussion 9, 31, 16 which one? Answer buy 3 jumpers! 39 possessions is amazing.
  10. Put aside all our pet hates etc, the reality is there are some good options available including Miller. I think we wont go with 2 rucks against the scraggers so its Hughes or Miller or both? Miller at least provides another option up back if Hall dominates Which must be on the selectors minds. The answer is in these observations by Brad Gotch: Paul Johnson - Johnno was probably in the top two. He rucked and played forward, and did a really good job. As the game wore on, his ruck work really improved. We have to remember that he had an interrupted pre-season, but this week, his game got more condition to it. His ability to do the ruck work, and then win some possessions around the ground, and take a mark and go up forward and kick a goal as well, were excellent. He and Miller were the two standouts. Brad Miller - I had Miller start in the back line. He started on Ablett and did a great job on him - Ablett hardly had a touch. At half time, we were down by seven points - and we moved him to the forward line, and he kicked three goals two behinds in the second half. Millsy had a fantastic game. I rated him as excellent, because he did the job in the back, then he went forward, and he was really our match winner, and very versatile. Danny Hughes - Danny was really good again. He’s such a great target as a forward. He had about ten marks, and he would have been in the top six players. His work rate is extraordinary, and his marking ability is fantastic. He uses the ball well, and we’re really happy with his performances over the last few weeks. He kicked one long goal again, which was nice to see. Miller is the safe option because he can play back as well freeing up someone to move up the ground.
  11. Twins A great cause. The photo must raise a few questions...
  12. The noticeable thing from the weekend is we are not shy of the pressure and run in sufficient numbers to make a zone difficult. When the centre was zoned last week we switched wide very quickly which was effective. Critically we are not fumbling in pressure situations.
  13. a year to enjoy already...
  14. He was totally beaten by a better man on the day.
  15. said it last week runs in circles.
  16. I am 1000's kms away and feel like running down to the G. well done Dees!
  17. Now I am a rookie Demon on this site as well but I didn't come down in the last shower. The last thing anyone in a family would do is say one of their own had an attitude problem. We will find out how good or bad he is in due course. I can wait.
  18. Agree. NicNat's performance is being overhyped. He did a few good things in the game that were flashy and he stood out. For mine he played one and half good quarters. In any event there is always going to be players we didn't take we missed etc etc. Evidence suggests we have generally recruited pretty well. Different players arrive and develop at different times. Scully "arrived" in the 3rd quarter last week, suddenly he started to have more time and stopped spilling the pill. So we should all relax and let the FD decide how to bring through the talent. When Watts plays it will be sometime for him to get used to the AFL so lets remember that as well.
  19. The club site specifically mentions Cheney as a possible inclusion. Can't drop Joel is performing well and a experienced hand. Scully should be in unless they have a plan to rotate the younger players who will need a rest at some stage during the season, not a bad time to do it and blood another young player. We need someone to back Jamar so thats Newton or Spencer.
  20. Time to give Brad room to breathe. He has had to shoulder a large burden up front and it might be a good thing he and Watts are playing alongside each other for a few weeks. My bet is with an improved team performance and confidence Brad will start to perform at a higher level.
  21. Port Melbourne in the early 80's was a different place. The better half worked Saturdays and if I recall most games were on Saturday afternoon so I would walk into the G and watch my beloved Dees get flogged but come away thinking "it will get better we might win next week". (Yep I am one of those annoying optimists.) It didn't get much better until I left the State for work and then it was still patchy. I still relish the thought of being able to walk up to the game however these days I religiously drive over to a mates and we watch the game on the TV in the Neitz Room. For those at the game on Saturday you may have missed the commentary on Foxtel. Buggered if I know who said it but one of the pundits said: "We are witnessing something happening here, the rebirth of a club. Look at those Supporters they know it as well." (or something like that, he also graciously sent a cheerio to Jimmy). He is right. We now have belief in a great future and a club that values our contribution from the stands or in front of the TV in some distant place. Every one of us has done the hard yards and deserves to be picked in the team to sit on the bench. I'd love to be there. Probably sell my old mum for the right (she's a saints supporter so she has to go anyway). So for my 25 words I thought who should be there? Our oldest supporter, our youngest, the one who can prove they have sat in the rain week in week out (probably get my vote). Big Jimmy and his family are obvious choices for me. Who would you pick? You can pick more than one option. And comments and new catergories welcomed.
  22. Totally agree with this. If we continue with the we are in a building phase talk we wont perform. Thats what happened week one. Its time to say "you are going out on the park to win" not just get experience.
  23. I am with you on that Jimmy. Every heart is beating true for you right now.
  24. I really think big men can take time in AFl the stars being the exception. Jolly got better with time. So have many others. He looked like a stunned mullet but he may be ok I reckon we invest in him and see.
