    Neil Craig

A newbie who seems to be consistently negative and critical re Neeld, Craig etc.etc. Not surprised that he's getting a chilly reception.
  2. As an aside (to add to your excellent post), one of the points about drug-taking in sport is that many of the prohibited substances enable you to train harder and/or train more. They don't enhance performance per se, but enable quicker and better recovery.
  3. I've wondered for a while now whether Davey's broken leg in 2010 hasn't resulted in him losing some speed and edge - and everything that would go with that. Unless I'm mistaken, he only has one year left on his contract, which you would imagine being a fairly decent incentive to perform at your max.
  4. Anybody here who thinks that (advanced) sports science isn't central to elite sports training and performance is just kidding themselves. We don't have Misson, Craig etc. for nothing. Hard to see how acknowledging that is somehow excusing players.
  5. If it's from the same article or post I read, he was told not just to aim for Casey, but to go for a spot in the seniors. Original wording was admittedly fairly ambiguous.
  6. Congrats, and thanks for the great insight into what's going on at the club. I would imagine that with the recruits that have been brought in, there'll be a few players looking over their shoulders.
  7. Hard to see the negatives in a well-written and decent "behind the scenes" look at what's going on and changing at the club. It's clear from the article, but also from what we've seen going on with the FD recruiting, the club are not content to just do "what other clubs do" off-field, they really do want to be the leaders.
  8. Drafting is drafting, wherever they come from, and whatever their age. It all falls within Prendergast's area of responsibility, and presumably, expertise.
  9. Not sure how this could be brought up. I don't know that there are really any more in rehab than there were back in Oct, and from what I understand, most of those are players coming off surgery or with ongoing (and sometimes niggling) injuries.
  10. Thanks for the report. Anyone know what's up with Tapscott? Surgery?
  11. From one of the Saints boards: "In other preseason news Sandringham player James Magner ran a time of 6.28mins in St Kilda’s 2km time trial on Saturday. Magner who is one of five Sandringham players currently training at the club ahead of this months drafts and is certainly impressing a lot of people down at the Saints. James Magner is a 24 year old, tough inside midfielder, who averaged 30 disposals and 9 clearances a game in 2011. He also won Sandringham’s Best & Fairest award after finishing 3rd in 2010."
  12. Writing off first and second year players already? Wait a year or three ...
  13. Couldn't you have just stayed over at Bigfooty?
  14. They were training at Visy Park. Off-season ... and still a few months to go.
  15. and meanwhile .... Goals - Wanderers: T Taylor 5 Still a kid, wonder if anyone would give him another chance ...
  16. It was just conjecture, there's no confirmation that that's the case.
  17. Interview with the man himself: http://www.perthnow.com.au/sport/afl/east-perths-freddie-clutterbuck-invited-to-train-with-melbourne-demons/story-fnb7bkh3-1226208346862 "Clutterbuck had an outstanding season in the WAFL, playing all 20 games for the Royals as well as making three appearances in the Foxtel Cup. The 21-year-old midfielder averaged 22.3 disposals per game to clinch the league’s Rising Star award at the end season." ... and some random quotes: "Freddie Clutterbuck (26 touches) was superb on the wing for East Perth and kept Fremantle-listed Jesse Crichton quiet" "East Perth was led by skipper Michael Swan's six goals and 42 possessions from Brendan Lee .... and 39 from Freddie Clutterbuck."
  18. "Taggert a medium forward. Elite mark and kick, knocks were endurance and work ethic but improving. From North Ballarat. Now a Dee"
  19. Certainly, but over the last 10 years, it starts to be more positive. I would imagine because the art of drafting has become a bit more of a science, with more research and information available to the clubs on the draftees. Clubs have also started to put a lot more resources into specialist draft watchers. Like Phil Scully. Fingers crossed.
  20. Some good suggestions here, but wouldn't be surprise if BP pulls something out of the hat on Thursday. Who had tipped that we'd take Howe last year - in fact, who had tipped that ANYONE would take Howe?
