  1. About sums it up. Very little intent being shown.
  2. Just because the outcome turns out (with retrospect) to be less than ideal, that doesn't presume that the process failed ... and that's not just in selecting a coach either. Specious discussion for me, it's about selecting a coach, not selecting a coaching committee. And it's obvious who we want.
  3. Depends what they're trying to do. If it's just a get-MM or get-RL coaching committee, they hardly even need to meet.
  4. Agreed. Suspect that the whole coaching sub committee etc. etc. is all a bit of a smokescreen, and we're going to put all our eggs in one basket. Or perhaps two baskets, Lyon being the second. Surely we can land one of those two?
  5. Maybe you should get out more. Nureyev was one tough s.o.b. who pushed himself far harder (physically and mentally) than a lot of our blokes have been doing of late.
  6. The player at Casey who has absolutely earned a callup is Jetta.
  7. Not to mention a captain who leads from the front, and a few other seasoned performers. Our biggest problem remains not the drafting or the kids, it's the lack of experienced heads and mature bodies to show the way and stand up when the going gets tough. Good signs in that direction from Sylvia and Jones today - but then our other big issue is consistency.
  8. He broke his leg last year. Maybe the consequences of that are more serious (even mentally) than what we might have thought. Not excusing him, just wondering out loud. Perhaps he really is finished ...
  9. Confusion in the back half, where everyone waited for someone else to get in under a floater. Jones was closest, but it was really Jamar's man. Jones been good for mine.
  10. No great loss at the moment ... He's really lost his way, whereas he should be one of our leaders and someone we can count on every week. Therein lies the major MFC problem.
  11. FFS, is it not possible to make your point without having to slag off other supporters???
  12. Juice twittered that he should be OK to go this week (or words to that effect ...)
  13. Biggest positive is that we even have a thread like this. It's been a dark time people. OK, we lost ... to a top 4 team. But considering how far back the players are in terms of confidence, how unsettled the team has been, the off-field changes and turmoil, that we even managed passages of decent play is a positive in itself - and even moreso when the main protagonists are often our younger and newer players. Lots to like (amongst the gloom and disaster that this season has turned out to be).
  14. And you know what gets said in the rooms because ....??
  15. Retrospective posting also ... There were many on this board (not to add, at the draft itself) that didn't want to touch Darling with a barge pole. Preferred Cook, still prefer Cook. (BTW, and once again, is it not possible for you to not hijack every single thread with your repetitive - not to say tiresome - "our drafting sucks"?)
  16. I think that's the point, not much there to fill anyone with confidence. Thinking of Jimmy and his family.
  17. Is it really not possible that everyone who wants to [censored] about the drafting do so on a "recruitment" thread somewhere hereabouts, instead of hijacking every (other) discussion. I had thought that the Casey reports thread might have remained exempt - but clearly too much to ask it seems.
  18. Yep, you nailed it ... we've recruited well, and have a solid, developing list, with a good balance of potential stars and blue collar grafters - all of whom are pretty shell-shocked at the moment and down on confidence. In the shorter term, perhaps the trade table looms large - a few more mature, settled heads wouldn't go astray. Otherwise known as leaders. Perhaps we should have gone for Luke ... Tapscott-I-mean -Ball after all. But why is this being discussed on the "Changes" thread???
  19. Good post. Dane Swan played 30 fairly ordinary games over 4 seasons before even starting to become what he is now - in his fifth season. But this has all been discussed ad nauseam, and some people just don't get it. If a 19 year old kid isn't tearing the house down, Prendergast must be an idiot. As for the thread per se: Wait and see after the Casey game, but surely with a backman or two out, either Warnock or Tom McDonald should just about have earned a guernsey. And as long as they don't mess it up, Jurrah for Bate and Sylvia for ??? Gysberts maybe? Not great these constant changes though, we certainly need a lot at the moment, but stability must be near the top of that list. These guys need to play together ... and play together.
  20. Funny you should mention it. For the first time today, I was feeling the same thing.
  21. Like trying to have the coach sacked after the Bulldogs game? He should stick to what he's good at ... management, finance, business. No doubting his passion for the club, but Dean had plenty of passion for the club as well and it didn't mean he was necessarily doing a good job.
