Max Gawn’s First Goal
I remember his massive shank on debut after taking the big mark over Dustin Fletcher. Lucky we already had the game won. That was an enjoyable night the week after the Bruise Free fiasco, Watts took a screamer, Bailey punched the roof of the bench on the siren and the water spraying looked like glass flying everywhere. Cue about three weeks of turning the corner before falling off a cliff.

Football Records & Yearbooks to Give Away
Thanks @Demonland for the tag. Would certainly be interested in adding to the Demonwiki archive if they are still available.

Wildcard Round
Putrid idea but now we've got the flag I'm a lot calmer about the structure of the league being unnecessarily changed.
-
Ben Brown and our forward line transition
He had a massive go in conditions that didn't suit him, but even as somebody who's been dying to get him back in the side any danger of a late change when you realise it's going to bucket down all day? I'm not confident Spargo or Melksham (if played from the start) would have done much more, but going with the selected lineup in that weather was optimistic.

Kings Birthday Sold Out
Got the confirmation email that Redlegs members can just show up and get in. Now the issue of finding one spare seat, and of the corporate boxes right behind being filled with drunken, Pies supporting buffoons.

JvR is the Round 12 Rising Star …
If eligible I bet it's that random Carlton defender who took a bunch of marks.

Will you BOO Luke Jackson this weekend?
Booing is embarrassing under any circumstances, but it's the worst kind of theatrics after he played a key role in the flag and left without serious angst. I'm not happy about him leaving but not enough to get excited about it like when Scully snuck out the side door of a flaming wreck in the dead of night. The highlight of the Scully return was mass-abuse being hurled at him, then James McDonald getting a round of applause for his first touch. That was totally classless but I'd say retaliation for Dogs fans booing Hunter first rather than any issue with Baker.

THE LAST HURRAH - Demon Literature
(Thanks to management for letting me reboot this thread to do a plug) After two solid years, The Last Hurrah has reached the end of its life in bookstores but I've grabbed a few of the remaining copies to sell directly at a discount. If you're interested you can order here. If you're looking for multiples DM me and I'll work out the postage. These copies include the text of a bonus chapter about 2021 and the lead-up to the Grand Final, so if you've already got the book and just want to read that DM me your email address and I'll send it over. Appreciate the kind words in this thread, and everyone who supported the book when it was in shops. Due to not having any interest in non-MFC topics my career as a professional author is over, but I'm hoping to do the 1965-1987 story as an amateur in the next couple of years.

Farewell James Harmes
Always liked Harmes but every successful team has players fall off the side. I'd be sad to see him go but better to get a game at a mid-table mediocrity than spend half the year at Casey or as a sub.

When will Melbourne break these embarrassing records?
Not quite embarrassing but Petracca's five goal assists is the most by an MFC player since the stat was first kept in 2003. Previous record was 4 - set 15 times between 2007 and 2022.

Conspiracy
Of course they're going to lay the boots in when you're putrid but go back and watch any hint of an upset and they blow the front of their pants.
-
Conspiracy
Commentators live for punting home the underdog. When we were rubbish opposition fans complained about the same thing in our games.

Tasmanian AFL Team
Call them the Devils and bring in Norwood so we can go full Collingwood sook twice at the same time.

A 19 Team Competition
I'm a soft touch so would rather another white elephant 20th team than anybody losing their club BUT if I was being ruthless I'd pick the most unfortunate Victorian club when the music stopped and merge them with Gold Coast. And if I was to be an absolute bastard about it I'd point out that Arden Street would work nicely for us as a city training venue if no longer required by North.

Melbourne 'Exports'
Definitely Nathan Bassett. I don't even think Hart was drafted, he was just added to Adelaide's list in their early days.

Angus Brayshaw
It looks like the AFL House Twitterist is having a medical emergency.

10 years on: From Melbourne’s darkest days to dynasty building
And the players got applauded off at half time because they weren't getting thrashed by as much as expected. That changed about 90 seconds into the third quarter.

What they are saying at Moore Park
What is this person on about given that we only kicked seven in the last quarter. Must have started drinking heavily midway through.

Rival clubs fume at Collingwood’s hold on MCG seats
We can't be far from Eddie launching another 'radical plan'. He'll actually get one adopted eventually.
