Recruiting - where did it all go wrong
People were ready to set the seats on fire when there was a suggestion of recruiting Taylor Walker last year. It didn't need to be him but it feels like any experienced, still-breathing key tall forward would help the rudderless fiasco we've got down there at the moment.

Goalkicking
Roll on Superleague Gymnastics when they have to do that with some anti-social drunks yelling at them over the fence.

Goalkicking
I still don't understand why McDonald couldn't get a run forward in the second half of last year (except the first Freo disaster when he kicked two goals) while Petty was absolutely dying down there. It likely wouldn't have saved the season but sending Petty down there every week when he obviously had zero confidence as a forward was madness.

PREGAME: Rd 04 vs Geelong
There's been plenty of bigger upsets than us winning this but my jaw will dislocate in shock if it happens.

Content to share with someone new to Australian football.
Highlights of big marks are always impressive. Later you turn into a horribly jaded cynic and realise that a Mark of the Year instantly turned over isn't worth as much as a chest mark followed by an effect disposal. Or maybe that's just me...

The AFL are treating us with contempt
On the topic of disrespect and contempt, this thread is near enough to host my biggest whinge about yesterday - Docklands shutting half of level three and (if you eventually found how to get to the open bits) cramming everyone in like battery hens. I'm not going to a Melbourne/North game to sit eight deep in the middle of an aisle with people clambering all me over day. I'll reluctantly cop the tightwad MCC shutting parts of level four when we play interstate teams but this was ridiculous. Docklands had done a lot right in recent years but this put me in a bad mood well before we unconditionally surrendered on-field.

van Rooyen and Turner to the backline?
Petty may have had the worst key forward season ever per games played last year so if he's the answer it's a terrifying question.

Melbourne FC App Issues
I had the same last week and on about the 15th attempt it logged me in. Bit tedious when you had to fill in your email address and password every bloody time. Potential option - Log into ticketmaster.com first on the same device then open the app and see if it picks up that you're already authorised.

Demon supporters are pathetic…
As long as we have long term financial security from other sources may every crowd be this size, even with the scab MCG closing two of the top levels. Justice for people who don't like being around other people.

Club Emblem
I would be interested in seeing it, because it doesn't seem right that we'd be doing any MFC branding in that era. More likely the MCC logo would be shown. There's something for the simplicity of just writing PREMIERS 1900 on the footy without any club branding. On a related note, it looks like a couple of these players have been added via the ancient equivalent of Photoshop.

Replacing Kozzie while suspended
Will be at least one more suspension during the year for that.

Lily Mithen off to the Suns?
Thank you, it makes more sense if the salaries are banded rather than a free-for-all as long as you fit inside the cap.

Lily Mithen off to the Suns?
I'm not remotely across the AFLW salaries but if you're an established player who isn't making bonus endorsement money like Harris what's the attraction to shifting states for a half year commitment? Good luck to her if she goes but I don't understand why unless there's a ridiculous contract and/or promises of a key leadership role. We must be on world record pace for breakup of a premiership team.

Cats Set for More Games at The Cattery
If they played one game a year there it would probably be against us so no harm done.

9 Reasons to be Positive Heading into 2025
I'm semi-optimistic about next year (at least in it not being a debacle), but #9 is the worst entry* in any list ever put together. * slight hyperbole

Financial Review: Melbourne Demons the 6th most valuable brand in the AFL
And after ranking 10/18, the next story will be that old chestnut about how Sydney has the most fans of any team in Australia.

Robbo parts company with AFL360
Stopped watching regularly when I lost all interest in non-MFC topics, but in an industry full of clickbait wankers I appreciated Robbo's unpolished, man on the street personality. He didn't always get it right or said things in a weird way but the less fake people im the media the better.

Tony Charlton's Football Show: 'Norm Smith Sacked'. The entire 1hr live episode.
What about the vox pop fans waiting to find out more before having a strong opinion? Now they'd show a Tiktok of somebody fake emoting for likes.

Christian Petracca
I don't think much of Petracca in all this, but the players who blabbed to a journalist about the private meeting are absolute clowns. The place is burning down and three of them are happy stoking the fire by giving tips to the media. Everyone seems to be in this for themselves, which explains a bit...

Email from Peter Lawrence
Is this really the week to punch on over administrative issues?* * unless trying to capitalise on cranky fans

Christian Petracca
Easier commute directly from training to making weird Colgate ads!

Christian Petracca
It wouldn't be hard to choose between permanent inner-city (or close to it) facilities or regular trips to Cranbourne but it's not like he thought we were leaving Casey when he signed the contract so it would be an interesting excuse if true.

My 3 word player analysis V Collingwood
I reckon he shows a bit up the ground but has NFI inside 50. Could work if we had other really good key forwards to kick to but for now JVR and Turner are just learning so you can't tell me he wouldn't provide more value as a defender. Appreciate his effort, resilience, and 33% goal increase last week but his lack of scoring has been a dead weight on our forward line this year.
