Hope for his sake he's bringing prime Franklin, Roughead, Hodge and Rioli too.

You still get plenty of comments on blogs, it's just most of them are offering business opportunities in Zimbabwe.

Anything can happen in September, but using a ladder position built on 10 wins half a season ago to justify why we'll do well now is taking a whizz on the leg and saying it's raining.

More to be pitied than despised.

They were so fired up by it that they... went four goals behind? Good one Jeremy.

No way he's coming back here to be hassled by fans in the line at the deli when he can stay in Syndey and be anonymous.

Eddie Betts opens up on the weird camp
Supermercado replied to John Crow Batty's topic in Melbourne Demons
It's on the Adelaide official YouTube channel for.... unclear reasons. Still 1% upset we didn't win by the ton. -

Making Don Pyke lose his mind and walk around silently eyeballing players is one of the great, underrated MFC highlights.- 197 replies

If we play that bloody song after goals I'll challenge the board

Goulburn Valley League was the main zone, but every team also got a collection of minor country leagues. Ours were the Kyabram, Picola, Riddell, Echuca, Tungamah, and Benalla leagues.

Melbourne & Mark Neeld: It Wasn’t All Bad
Supermercado replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
It was fun beating Essendon. The only problem was losing nine games before it and about 200 after. -
I'd have been more confident with another couple of easy kills like Gold Coast and Adelaide to warm us up.

Between the Flags - a great new book on the MFC

Get a copy of Icons Of Australian Sport: Ron Barassi: Chronicling His Football Career Using His Scrapbooks And Memorabilia if you can. I can see a copy on eBay now for $22.50 which is good value (even with hefty postage because it's a big, heavy, hardcover book) because it usually sells for much more. -
Last year I was too scared to be happy from about Round 2 to halfway through the last quarter of the Grand Final. I'll appreciate it more in 10 years than now. Still better than the alternative.

It's such an outrageous figure I'm waiting for Champion Data to reveal they forgot to punch a number in. Mind you, the last time I can find this happening in a full length game is Richmond in R23, 2019 and they won the game, then the flag so who knows how relevant it is.

My favourite number was zero forward 50 tackles.

Decent players are always going to fall off the side of top clubs. I like Toby but can't blame somebody who can't always get a game for joining a shizen team where he's guaranteed a start.
-
Still funny that it took a kick after the siren for Richmond to beat us when we did everything possible to avoid winning.

What happened to Cameron Bruce, he seemed on the way when at Hawthorn and is now an assistant at Brisbane and you never hear of him in coaching conversations.

Between the Flags - a great new book on the MFC
Supermercado replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Have ordered this and looking forward to reading it, I'm particuarly fascinated by the 70s and early 80s disaster years. On the topic of MFC books, does anyone know where I can get this book by Dick Seddon? (I'm sure he's just been stitched up by Google and it's not really subtitled - "Reflections of a Former ALF [sic] Commissioner"), and despite the random modern day MFC image on the front I'm not sure how much is about the club vs his team at the league but interested in any insights into the era he was in charge. -
We need to wear our normal jumper this week

Good to get back to superstition and mysticism 16 games after a flag. -
It's not an issue as long as you recognise that there will be times we keep the opposition to a respectable score and still lose. See for example Sydney this year, GWS last year, or the last two Queen's Birthdays before the last minute junktime goals. It's a seat of the pants method but works more often than not.

Highest scoring Q4 in our history achieved by one of the worst coaches. Makes no sense. I liked Gawn smashing the ball into the head of a GWS fan:
