  1. Good base for Jack to build on from today on this performance he retains his spot and thats what it's all about at the moment. The day he makes it and all the doomsayers have to eat their hats will be beautiful indeed. Writing off a teenager so early makes as much sense as using a hornets nest as underwear.
  2. Oh so disappointing today I got ahead of myself and had this chalked down as a win which makes it hurt even more. Was expecting the boys to hurt after bulldogs game and be ferocious Couple of issues: Sylvia: needs a spell in reserves 14 possessions at 43% and 3 clangers is not up to standard really disappointing stuff from him today. Bartram: Needs a spell in reserves to be a tagger and not lay a tackle is deplorable McDonald: For a 33 year old man probably in his last to second last season be consistantly best of field is a dispicable indictment on our middle tear of players unwilling to stand up and take the next step. Expect so much more than what was served up today in terms of effort. Its the lack of willingness to compete which rips your guts out.
  3. This would be the ultimate in terms of supporting the MFC. We'd be a powerhouse and securing our future forever is all I want as a supporter. It is the worst part of our game that when a team goes bad on field the first argument is they should relocate. It's a flawed philosphy that moving a team equals increase support and success. Casey is a strategic planning genius massive growth corridor new young families looking for a team to support and here's the MFC in schools/community making its presence felt. Docklands 5 mins from our spiritual mecca would be awesome. But the bubbledome looks pretty awesome at the moment and I thinks we've got Gosch's paddock to train also.
  4. One more Cam cause I cant help myself Ricky Petterd: how far off are we from dispelling all these rumours that the Gold Coast has him in their sights and he may be going? Love the way he goes about his footy give him all our best he is a livewire.
  5. Cheers for the response Cam Congratulations on the access you've been giving the average folk with Whiteboard Wednesday great insight into the inner sanctum/processes. Here's to continued success of the MFC Now let's turn the MCG into a cauldron of demons and smash the eagles
  6. Poor guy has got so many doubters out there if i was in the same position i'd of pulled all my hair out about now. Cant wait till we talk about his footy rather than trivial hearsay nonsense. Cam if your still here how far away realistically is Blease from a senior debut 6 months or more. I know we need to be conservative due to his injury but he was so exciting when playing for Metro. Remember thinking this guy has got speed to burn.
  7. These really are the important points for MFC we could possibly be beholding to a guy that could pull the rug from under us at any time. MFC should look to invest the other 3.7 million into more diversified revenue streams. Where we there is reduced risk. He's done it to Bulldogs and Tigers he could definitely do it again.
  8. Stand up rank and file all the flogs calling for Bruce's head and appologise. After that have a look at yourselves and slap yourself in the face twice then add an upper cut. Bruce collected 30 posessions 80% effectiveness 8 contested posessions 6 tackles. He showed class under pressure and was fantastic in horrid conditions. I'm no bandwagoner of Bruce's but all you flogs calling for his head haven't got a clue.
  9. Good to see article about attendances being up at the MCG Potential benefits to the MFC are always welcome. Looks like the league is set to smash attendance records at the 'G' this year on these projections. Last year we would of got our 100,000K per game plus another 250K as being one of the 4 MCG tenant clubs at the end of year. Always pleased to see the finacial security of our club is going ahead strongly. Together with increased membership sails we appear to be going the right direction link to herald sun article http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/big-crowds-build-cash-bonanza/story-e6frf9jf-1225861813985
  10. See Petterd's twitter thread http://twitter.com/Rickypetterd15 'Not the results i was lookin 4, still a bit hard to swallow.Already lookin forward to putting on the red n blue in 2011! thanks for the msg!' Does that suffice for all the doomsayers saying that we are going to loose Petterd good to see the boy is optimistic despite horrible news
  11. It hardly seems appropriate to be wallowing in the misery of others. Especially considering that we face the cats in 4 weeks and are likely to be done by more than 8 goals there ourselves. Seriously the people that think we have made it through the worst of it are kidding. If anything we should be thanking our lucky stars that for 4 weeks the team clicked. We haven't arrived we have barely even departed how about we show some class to a side who is in the same position now we all thought we were after Hawthorn in Round 1
  12. The premature head wobble that pretensed this game has been replaced by slagging of Bruce. How Cliched How Unimaginative How Near Sighted Supporters need to grow up realise our total lack of committment today across the board is why we lost. We showed up flat and got spanked. Deservedly. I just hope that the players didn't start believing their own hype Like so many fair weathered down hill skiing supporters who thought we could make top four. Reality is we are developing lets not get ahead of ourselves till we are at least half way there.
  13. Perusing the AFL website and came across the following: MELBOURNE Rohan Bail (quad) - test Max Gawn (knee) - indefinite Liam Jurrah (shoulder) - 8-10 weeks John Meesen (ankle) - 4-6 weeks Cale Morton (knee) - 1 week Luke Tapscott (hip) - indefinite Is this right is he due back already? Thought he was another 4 weeks away Means Cale should be playing in the seniors by Queen's birthday one would think Also good to see Wona, PJ, Bell and Blease get through games on weekend. All of the sudden our injuries are coming good.
  14. Had to log on just to say This is Absolutely unequivocally the most rediculous statement ever in history hang your head in shame. If anything he's odds on to go to the Gold coast for the cash. No way he'd come back to MFC no way we'd accept him back no longer fits our rebuilding profile 28 years is too old. He burnt us once MFC aren't stupid enough to let him do it again. Just create a team of fairweathered down hill skiers while your at it. Desert us when the going gets tough come back when we've rebuilt through the pain of the last 3 years. sorry but this is absolute [censored].
  15. Personally I'm just hoping for some consistent skills execution and something up forward that resembles a target. A win against the tigs is always good though. I also want to see Scully calve it up against Martin put that uneducated hack to shame.
  16. Changes for the Tigs IN - Sylvia OUT - Dunn Even though I'm a big supporter of Dunn and thought he was an under used resource in the pre season this week he made some fundamental and unforgiveable errors against the crows. IN - Martin OUT - Juice constant poor skills execution, shirking the issue too often and an inability to do absolutely anything below his knees warrants his selection to casey.
  17. I'll put it on the line if you don't get there Sunday and you don't have a valid excuse e.g. your leg was chewed off by a Walrus. You are NOT a MFC supporter. And bring your mates.
  18. I think it's imperative we draw a decent crowd next week. Over 30,000 at least, its up to every MFC supporter to grab 4 of their mates/family and drag them to the footy next week no excuses I have already lined my mates up some don't even barrack for either side. Week in week out we ask for the non negotiables from our team how about some fair dinkum support rather than fare weather bandwagoning. Get to the game no excuse. Your working take a day off, the missus wants you to stay home divorce is not out of the realms of acceptability to get to the game, you'll be out of town crap come back and go to the game. It's an absolute must we need to draw decently to remain relevant this is the mandate we should be expecting we have a responsibility as supporters of the custodian club of the greatest game.
  19. Loving this kid impressive in the preseason, on rookie players I've seen he is the only who has deserved his elevation to senior list. Stats from Weekend: Kicks 12, Handballs 6, Marks 5, Tackles 12, Disp eff 72%, Inside 50m 5. Keep up the great effort with that sort of hard work he'll give the coach no choice but to pick him every week.
  20. Some of the sheer over reaction on this site after last week against Hawthorn has made me fair dinkum want to 'Spew Up'. The pontification around this site has been extraordinary people turning on players coaching staff reading threads I could of sworn I had gone to hell and was baracking for Richmond. Love passion for the red and blue but going about posturing and demanding the sacking of coaches and players is a lame duck excuse for a supporter. Thank god smarter more realistic people are actually in charge. Time for people to pull there heads in take a reality check and actually understand were we are at. Hopefully the seed of sanity will grow 6-8 wins has been the consensus for the MFC for sometime on this site. This is a building and development year.
  21. This part has peaked my interest: Bailey and Co MUST have made sure that around the boundry we combat the 3rd man up scenario even if it means we screen the likely Hodge and Lewis it has got to be done to ensure our one tactical advantage this weekend is actually maintained. Bailey's tactics or the sides execution of them so far this pre-season have been abysmal. Jamar must crash the pack bash up the opposition ruckmen but not get carried away dominance of the ruck thisn week is a must. Play Martin out of the goal square let Jamar dominate the ruck at least he's been in reasonable form. If we do this we will for want of a better word be 'competitive'.
  22. Who do i want to take the next step? Lynden Dunn: Has had the time to develop he has the size and i can see some ability on him time to take it to the next level cement a spot and either be a forward or effective stopper. Someone from the Ruck devision: Jamar has to step it up and become an elite class ruckmen some improvement in the contested marking department and forwardline presence. Our 2nd string ruckmen whoever it will be needs to step up also and be more than serviceable I still think its Paul Johnson for mine i know it's unpopular but i cant see Meesen making it and Spencer is underdeveloped. Sam Blease: Had elite pace an elite leap injured for a year needs a sound development year.
  23. Oh I'd just like to add Casey Fields Car Park is Hands down the crapest car park ever invented ever in the universe. Being stuck stationery for 1hr is ridiculous 45mins to get out of the bastard that was the cherry on top of a miserable afternoon.
  24. What A Disappointment The umpiring in this game was some of the most deplorable examples of the game ever. They were pathetic We were trounced by a harder running more committed side after mid way throught the 3rd quarter we capitulated. There were some encouraging passages of play for MFC but they were few and far between. Out of defence we would easily rank the worst side in the AFL. There is absolutely no set up or structure. Our players are stationary and look like their zoning their own forward 50 when they should be leading up to the person with the ball. Infact I think we zone better in our back 50 than we do in our forward 50. Jeez Nick Natinui is an impressive player umpires are already protecting him though and he got alot of cheap frees. I had west coast and fremantle in bottom 4 we didn't come close to either bad pre season for the dees. Hope Sylvia makes a quick recovery we are so unlucky bring round 1
  25. Finally some sense Dunn must play out the forward line. For him to improve he requires game time. Personally i think the biggest failure of Bailey and Coaching staff this season is not playing/developing Dunn in NAB Cup/Challenge for no identifiable reason he has not been on an injury list. He's big bodied developed just needs to be given a good go.
