  1. Facts are Facts he was slow last night he was never infleuntial in the play last night and he now plays for the opposition so I hope Moloney smashes him. Not that hard a thought process to grasp I would have thought.
  2. I will give Bell the rest of this preseason. He has one month to make an impact for his sake I hope we win tonight against fremantle. From the intra club he didn't stand out at all.
  3. I have no problems with Brock not wanting to shake Kirk's hand. I'm Cetainly not going to start slanging mud at Brock just because he's moved to Carltank. If he was still playing for us 95% of people would be defending him. He did look very slow last night and seemed to be running in circles without getting involved in the play. I hope he has some impact and isn't dropped so that I can see Moloney smash him when we play them. Gysberts is going to be a player too he's tall for a midfielder when he fills out he will be elite.
  4. This story is uplifting especially in light of watching a former player in a different jumper last night. Hope he does enough in pre season to warrant an upgrade especially with Tapscott on the LT Injury List. On what I've seen I'd say he deserves it the most out of the rookies.
  5. Bazza Jurrah could of kicked eight in the game today and still not of done a lot. He got into position kicked four sausage rolls that was it wasn't involved in anything mercurial didn't set up any fantastic play not much going at all mate so i didn't see much from him. Second point I seriously doubt there was 2k there but then again i didn't do a head count. There was a lot of kids and families but there was no membership line out the gate, no news services i could see so It couldn't of rated that highly except to the faithful.
  6. Attended the game out at Casey today first time venturing out that way the atmosphere was awesome saw alot of young families and kids in red and blue makes me hopeful into the future. From the players I noticed Gysberts: did alot of nice things seemed to move really well and hit up some nice passes. Grimes: really was a smooth mover throughout the day. He oozes class hitting up leads he looks set to slip into the the midfield nicely. Sylvia: Improved as the game progressed Half way through the third quarter and last he was winning alot of ball. In the last quarter absolutely smashed Grimes both guys were on the canvass luckily not injured. Scully: Played well snagged a great goal in the last quarter as a massive tank involved in some nice linkages of play. Maric: Set shot 30m-35m out directly in front shanks it out on the full. All i can say is good night Irene. Newton: Getting himself into good positions but he's not fast enough, no strong enough not good enough. For Example he deulled with Frawley in the last quarter about 10 metres in front of the goal square he was able to get Frawley under the ball but the ball carried them Frawley's turn of speed saw him Blitz Newton on a race back to the ball ending up in the ball being rushed across the line. MacDonald: Looks like the recruit of the year did some very impressive things of half back a ready made play maker. Trengrove: Oozed class some really nice passages of play he was involved in and set up hit targets takes a nice grab. Miller: Leading up working hard can turn his man he's doing everything he can he just hasn't got any dukes he was being hit lace out and it was going straight through his hands. Strauss: Really impressed with his work of half back hit up some targets has progressed really well. Morton: Needs a hair cut. Hasn't beefed up much worked his way late into the game. Moloney: Polar opposite of Morton i think he is unable to swing his arms anymore cause there like tree trunks the definite enforcer of the side. Jones: Spent a fair amount of time up forward played a workman like game never stops trying. Spencer: Did some really really good things in the ruck Jurrah: Didn't see him do alot kicked two late goals which helped his side win. Green: Classy Rivers: Stepped up played a really great game. Warnock Very impressive with his play won alot of contests and rebounded the ball really well. Overall there was improvement out there on the ground. However I found I was still scratching my head when there were turnovers because they were fundamental errors. Kicking to a contest when weight of numbers is against you. Handballing, breaking the lines, linking up but giving it off to someone flat footed and getting them polaxed. Basic skill errors were evident and alot of kicked footballs lacked penetration they seemed to float and allow the opposition an opportunity to spoil. I give the day an 8 out of 10 in terms of patronage seeing the red blue, listening to Jim, Chris and Garry. I give the footy played a 6.5 out 10.
  7. Bailey has performed to the script he was given with the job. A plan was put in place most likely the fastest way possible to a premiership and lasting success. Upon reviewing our list he was of the mind we had a lot of players past their prime and a lot of players who were not up to AFL. I think Bailey rates players on the following 1st commitment/accountability to the jumper/cause i.e. team players 2nd Versatility and game plan adaptability 3rd Ability to run 4th The mercurial. I think he has adopted Bomber Thompson's philosphies on players/development I can see his choices in player recruitment much in the same way Geelong's was. An elite midfield is at the core with players who can play multiple roles by moving forward or back as required. A rock solid rebounding/attacking defence and a functional forward line. Geelong almost lost faith in Thompson in 2006 he was nearly sacked It took 160 games and 6 seasons before it all clicked. Bailey coming from such a low base and faced with a debiliating injury run where Neitz could no longer play, Robbo ruptured his achilies, players who weren't committed to the necessary level i.e Carrol decimated his opportunity for transition . He has been required to fashion a side amongst fire and brimstone with criticism a lot unfounded, unhelpful and disrespectful to the MFC from every corner supporters, media, AFL and has been unwavering in his objectives the rebuild has gone on. I don't want to support a team that sacks the coach without a thought I'd go support Richmond if i wanted that. We need stability, we need to educate/develop the young players we have this will take another 4 years. Nothing Bailey has done so far makes me think he cant do the development and just remember in reality he has had nothing to work with in terms of a functional, talented and consistant side. If it was up to me I'd sign him for another 2 years today because then i could access his coachin performance honestly.
  8. See the boys have they're first training session with the inclusion of the new recruits http://images.slatterymedia.com/photogalle...aining%20021209
  9. Absolutely I'm happy Mclean didn't want to play for us this kid Gysberts does he'll wear Red and Blue Mclean won't as far as Mclean goes he doesn't exist look ahead to the future it's much more exciting. End of story
  10. Apparently has grown 8 cm in the Last year!!! Somebody check his Pituitary Gland Will enter the system as 2nd tallest player and will likely top Sandilands if he continues to grow this way
  11. I recalled a draft camp video with Jordan Gysberts it indicated that the club had already had some contact with Gysberts before the draft. During the interview he stated that Cameron Bruce was amongst his mentors and quoted an adage of Cam's "Determination Defies Defeat" I've only been able to find a short grab of this interview and it is amongst the AFL draft camp review it's approximately 8-10 mins in straight after the segment on Lewis Jetta. The point of this you say it seems clear Gysberts has been on the FD's radar for sometime now I think in Gysberts we will be pleasently surprised about the class he goes about his footy here's a link to the footage: http://bigpondvideo.com/melbournetv/226091
  12. Surprised by Gysberts but it seems the football department is working in the Cats mould of you can't have enough midfielders I was surprised Talia went all the way to adelaide Tapscott I hope he wasn't recruited so that Trengove has a friend and it's on his ability alone Missed out Patrick and Taylor which is a surprise I thought we would of taken one of them Finally surprised we didn't draft Grimes Jnr
  13. Surprised he went before Vardy But Gawn is a project ruckmen who I don't expect a lot from until his 3rd or 4th season. He could dominate in the fashion of Sandilands and with a gun midfield around him we might be untouchable in the centre square.
  14. Lewis slides to Adelaide i reckon if West Coast don't take him Essendon is a strong chance reason: Like for Like replacement of Lovett I don't think Koby Steven's will slide all the way to 21 for North this seems fanciful I don't think Troy Taylor will be there come 3rd round top 20-25 at least Mcmillan Pittard is a bolter as to Max Gawn see the the temptation of a 208cm 3cm short of Sandilands could possibley dominate the ruck for a decade in AFL ruckman but he is still in rehab phase of a knee injury i think at 18 we are overpaying
  15. It seemed like it missed a massive chunk in the middle some where which would of brought the entire story together in some sort of meaningful way. It would of been good to hear from the community of Yuendumu as to what impact Liam's journey had had on them and what it meant to have Jim Stynes visiting. This would of reflected the positive approaches/ processes both men are journeying through. Would of also been nice to see an announcement of soughts which linked the MFC to the community. Like a youth development program, or an annual players/coaches contigent making themselves available to help develop kids, maybe even a scholarship program for talented kids from the area. Maybe these are options further down the track but I can see the MFC could have a massive impact in central aus if they want too.
  16. MFC selections as by burgan: Tom Scully Jack Trengove Daniel Talia Max Gawn Troy Taylor Liam Patrick PSD Joel Macdonald pretty fair draft result for the MFC according to Burgan Here's the link to the rest of the draft. http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tab...51/default.aspx
  17. 1 - Scully 2 - Trengove 11 - Talia 18 - Carlisle 34 - Gawn 50 - Grimes PSD - Macdonald Meesen to go to hawks in rookie draft We will rookie Patrick in his place
  18. Mclean is probably deserving of a position in the side It was a difficult task and when it came down to deciding especially for the mid roles i preferred Jones due to consistency than Mclean. But I can see that the argument for Mclean is a plausible one.
  19. Eradication of debt is good this is to be commended the people who have contributed to this are incredible. Continued subsidy by the AFL's special distribution fund is bad I look forward to the day when my club can function independently of AFL assitance I look forward to the day MFC returns to it's rightful place as the great club it once was. We are walking that path but I'm not pulling out the champa's till we've made it.
  20. That would be ideal a little boutique stadium which MFC could rule with an iron fist make complete profit on the gate and services delivery contractors paying MFC for the privelage, signage sponsers our own Kardinia Park. As an aside i was reading that the difference in profit for Collingwood if it's home game is ANZAC day is between 500,000 and 1 million extraordinary considering I believe MFC has as much right to play in an ANZAC game.
  21. Sylvia I see as an adaptable midfielder who is able to play up forward and has been generally a more outside player than McLean. I think Sylvia has a better kick than Mclean. Games played are the difference of 6 over their 6 seasons for MFC. In consider Sylvia more important in a side than Mclean Morton: Won the Larke medal, the best first year player for MFC and has played 40 out of 44 games since debut. He has averaged 20.6 disposals per game. versus Mclean's 18.8. Morton averages 6.6 marks a game versus 3.8 for Mclean Morton also average 0.7 goals a game while Mclean 0.4. There are few players in the AFL who have been more impresive since their debut and gone with such little notice. Morton also plays a wing/back flanker role which is completely different to Mclean. Finally we come to Jones who of the 3 I see most closely in the same ilk as Mclean. The stats between Mclean and Jones are so close. Jones averages 19.3 disposals, Mclean 18.8. Jones kicks 0.4 goals a game Mclean 0.4 goals. Where they differ greatly is since their debut, Jones played 8 games in his debut season Mclean 9. Since their debut Jones has played 62 games out of 66 93% of games Mclean played 85 out of 110 72%. Jones doesn't get injured plays over 90% of games and plays in the same role/position as Mclean. Again in Jones we see he is a severely underated player based on the stats Jones has gotten no where near the kudos Mclean did in his first 3 seasons it's because the team has been collectively loosing. This doesn't mean Jones has performed exceptionally in fact in a loosing side I see Jones has done far more than Mclean.
  22. As stated I've seen the highlights package on 7 this Sunday will feature the MFC Trip to Yuendumu with Jim Jurrah and Tim Watson must watch event if your heart beats true
