Plenty of passion on the boards which is good to see. Couple of things I'll clear up. First: My passion for this club runs deep my support unwavering my commitment absolute for over 30 years. Secondly: Majority of this site claimed MFC would only win 6-8 wins hardly a successful year Thirdly: If Jurrah was going to be the absolute difference this year your deluded. He's gifted, talented could quite possibly rival Buddy in 3 years but even Buddy can't win a game when he is the only one playing. He misses 16 weeks of development on field but if he's hungry and comitted enough he'll develop himself in other areas. For example endurance, strength, bulk. Fourthly: Injuries suck BUT I absolutely refuse to run around like a chook with it's head cut off spreading doom and gloom when I've been through this kind of thing before(Schwarz). We as supporters as a side as the red and blue will be stronger for the bad times and when the good times come they'll be so much sweeter. Absolute unwavering support it's not a choice.

I almost don't remember Garland playing it's been so long hope he has a great game against West Coast and has a great 2010. He was a shinning light in 2008 hope to see more exciting football from him.

No big deal, calm down, relax What were expectations this year Jurrah was hardly likely to be the sole saviour of our side we need improvement across the board. Majority of posters on this site predicted 6-8 wins this season. Hardly a ringing endorsement that we were expecting improvement into the stratosphere. However Jurrah faces a long rehab/recovery I wish him luck and look forward to watching his exciting football later in the year.

Was hoping for 6-10 Weeks. 12-16 Weeks if true is really really disappointing. Wish the club would give us some news and announce how long. I know their covering all bases i just hate waiting.

Melbourne at Casey Fields - Saturday March 13

Purely spectacle/atmosphere reasons. -
McKenzie and Spencer definite rookie elevations IMO Mckenzie to replace Tapscott Spencer for Gawn/Meesen. I have liked what I've seen from both Spencer has shown improvement from last year he still has miles to go and i think McKenzie will be a decent player.

Melbourne at Casey Fields - Saturday March 13

Disappointing we have to play another interstate side that's 3 from 4 a bit rough i reckon. Plan to get along to Casey, I had a really great time at the intra club. Hope there's a big attendence and we end the pre season on a positive note with a win and gain some confidence. I reckon we might see our virtual Round 1 team have a hit out. -
This is bad news all around. It's really disappointing we can't seem to have any sort of luck with injuries. I'd like to see the stats over the last 3 years on how many total games were missed by our list due to injury. I reckon we would go close to having the worst record in the AFL. Wish Jurrah and Bell all the best hopefully the club get them right and Bell can give us a reason to back him for another contract and Jurrah can ignite the MCG with his talent.

This is it Stefan Martin isn't going to be the greatest player ever but what hope does he and the likes of Dunn have if they don't learn how to play in their positions if their either always omitted or they're constantly moved in positions they play. Seems consistency is being forsaken for flexibility. Maybe I'm wrong but how about we get players to learn one trade either forward, midfield, ruck or back. Then when that's up to scratch we look at adding strings to bows. Dunn's a 22 year old player potential forward line player what is he to the MFC trade bait to GC. Between Miller and Dunn I know who has more upside. Healey, Hughes why aren't they getting game time in the pre season?
-
Good to see Wona, Green, McNamara, Spencer back in the team. I want to talk about Dunn. 3rd week of pre season and he gets a run, now correct me if i'm wrong he's not been injured lately. He did a full pre season why isn't he playing in 1st game of preseason. Is he really not good enough to get a pre season game till round 3 of the NAB challenge. I thought Dunn could/would/is a useful foreward line player especially when Bate is injured. Maybe I'm deluded we have a 22-23 year old 95kg 192cm player on the sidelines and for no reason i can justify he's not being played. What do others think of Dunn the Bermuda Triangle of our club? Does he deserve a spot in preseason or not?

Adelaide v Melbourne @ Elizabeth Saturday 4:30pm

Get rid of the Nab cup all together. Increase the season to 24 or 26 rounds make teams play each other twice. Means that players like Morton are injured in a game rather than junk time at Princes Park. Thank god this is the last season we have to put up with this Nab cup crap in this form. -
Wish Morto a speedy recovery and some time out build some muscle and get a hair cut. In all seriousness though he has been a stalwart for our club since his drafting which is testamount to his resilience and playing ability. Get well morto we need you.
-
Might need to add Morton (knee) and maybe Moloney (calf) to that list once we get an update on their status.
-
I thought it was an ankle. He looked proppy but was able to get off the ground under his own steam. He seem to run it off as he got closer to the interchange looked like a stinga. Would be terribly unlucky to have done a knee.

Just back from Princes Park. Overall a much better performance today and considering we were off a 4 day break means it was miles better than last week. I'll list players who made an impression on me throughout the game. Jones: A steady game missed two set shots which weren't difficult. Had a few turnover but was largely dependable. Almost kicked goal of the year. Jamar: Liked his work in the ruck showed good work rate. I think he beat Ryder and split the difference with Hill Grimes: Showed alot of poise and dash through the middle and in contested situations was on of the BOG. Sylvia: Took some really strong contested marks really liked what he did throughout the first half went was one of our BOG Martin: fumbled at times looked unsure wasn't precise but he is extremely mobile and took a few good marks. Jurrah: Fletcher won the day Jurrah had about half a dozen touches and his infleuence was minimal did alot of chasing and tackeling in forward 50 which was the best part of his game. Pettered: Really did well I think he may have been subed at half time but his second half was impressive took some good marks and kicked 2 really good goals that stood out. Bail: Had a good game I think he was subed as well had a few good passes. Great to see him out there. Newton: The juice has been squezzed and found wanting. Scorpions looks a definite for him this year. Bell: I thought he did a good tagging job on watson and he didn't look out of his depth in the middle. Macdonald: Majority of his game was really good had a kick in which resulted in a turnover and goal but wasn't our worst. Absolutely creamed McVeigh so gets points for that. Scully: Like what i saw had a set shot from 40 out but didn't make the distance might have shanked it. Some tough in and under work by skulls. Trengove: Played well one passage of play he linked up with skully and my overwhelming thought was the future of the MFC looks good. Gysberts: Tried all day was involved in passages of play mostly as a link layed some good tackels. All positive. Morton: Second geussed himself too many times and ended up turning over the ball. Bit disappointing for mine. Only because I have high expectations. Overall our application was much improved when we backed ourselves in we produced fast paced quick transition high skilled play. Need to work on switching play as this resulted in some very costly turnover in the middle of the ground. Inaccuracy especially early on killed us 1.7 at one point i think we were when legitimately we should of been at least 5 goals. We didn't finish well and allowed Essendon 3 goals in junk time which made us look worse than we were. All in all a positive day compared to last week.

Thinking of going it's been a long time since I've been to princes park. What's parking like is there any available close to the ground?

Bad Call!!! Horrendous Call!!! while our performance was at best poor. It's hardly time to start beating the jungle drums calling for a coaches head on the basis of one game. This is the most apathetic form of support. Calling for Bailey to be sacked lacks courage lacks insight and common sense. In fact it's Richmond like. If I was CEO I'd sign Dean to 2 more years and it's not blind faith it's the most pragmatic option 2 years to clear out the list 2 years to develop the recruits. The jungle drums started to beat loudly for Clarkson 2006/2007 and look what he did. Please Garry Lyon if he had the cojones he'd of put his hand up long ago your talking about a media performer with no recent senior coach experience. Scott West is more qualified than Garry Lyon. This thread is nominated for the most ridiculous, over reactionary and ignorant of the year.

There aren't many positives for me from the game last night so I'll list them first. James Strauss looked good of half back first game really showed talent. Grimes, Scully, Trengove all servicable and there is talent there for sure. Jared Rivers and James Frawley looked the goods last night. Together with Joel Macdonald shining lights. We got game time into players They played in match conditions. The Negatives Tackling 56 to 35 in Fremantle's advantage Contested marks 12 to 2 fremantle's advantage Contested Posessions 122 to 100 Fremantle's advantage Inside 50's 43 to 30 fremantles advantage We couldnt kick a goal till half way through the second quarter Without super goals we scored 42 points to 94 Our defence against opposition set plays is the most pathetic i have ever seen Sandilands was palming it into guys laps who were already 10 metres in space. It doesn't give me any confidence that we have progressed beyond finshing last I couldn't sleep last night I was so [censored] with the way we played last night

Rivers Grimes showing some good things
-
Expect much more from the boys this half. At least the boys seem to have worked well on there stamina. We seemed to come into the game much more in the second half of the second quarter I cant see the work Deans been doing on the field kicking been shocking. Would like to see the boys go hard.
-
Put Jurrah In the Middle!!!
-
A quarter and a half no goal we don't even look like going close.
-
A lot of nervous boys out there but christ no onw working into space again we continue to kick to a contest where numbers are against us. We set really poorly against set plays. Sandilands palmed it in Ballantyne's lap and he's 10metres in the clear. No passion so far Dean light a fire under these boys.
-
No structure No workable fowardline. In fact our whole team deserted our half of the ground and spent it in the dockers half. Very very very concerning a quarter with just 2 points I expected more.
