There's a better chance of Tasmania falling into the sea.

Surely I can't be the only one who thinks that quite a few of his off-field issues would be sorted by him no longer being on the Gold Coast?

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB – JAKE MELKSHAM
Dr. Mubutu replied to Theo's topic in Melbourne Demons
You know he's an Essendon player, right? Pick 10 + 6 years of development in the Essendon calculator works out as our 1st and 2nd round picks + Angus Brayshaw. -
I wouldn't. Always gave it his all, just wasn't quite good enough. No shame in that. Will be one of the few that I will be sad to see go this year.

I actually read a rather sensible opinion on Big Footy (of all places). Howe + pick 6 to GC for Bennell + end of 1st round. End of 1st round + 2nd round to GWS for their 1st round. Due to their Academy players, this is actually a good thing for them, as given the points system, pick 19 + pick 25 > pick 8. Essentially: Howe + 25? + 6? for Bennell +8?. Sounds like a good deal to me.

Match Day Experience - time to lift our game
Dr. Mubutu replied to Leoncelli_36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Which is why the AFL had better be paying the fee to Etihad directly out of their own funds (and not out of our equilisation funds, either). If the financials show that we've had to pay this, the MFC (and its members) should rightly seek a 'please explain'. -
The Rising Star Thread - Congratulations Jesse Hogan!
Dr. Mubutu replied to Nascent's topic in Melbourne Demons
My thoughts exactly. Having said that, I'd still prefer to have Hogan, and I'm glad he's playing for the MFC. -
I live in regional Queensland. It would cost >$500 to attend a game. Forgive me if I don't attend a round 23 slopfest.

Trust a Jack Watts thread to take this turn. Classic Demonland.

Exactly this. If it's not Melbourne, I don't care.

Delistings/trades at end of the season
Dr. Mubutu replied to Northern Summer's topic in Melbourne Demons
Would be remiss if they weren't. -
Gotta pay somebody. May as well be a young bloke as any of the others on the list.

Perhaps he prefers this version of the Sisyphus story......

Will the Big Russian get a farewell game?
Dr. Mubutu replied to The Lobster Effect's topic in Melbourne Demons
My preference would be to give him a farewell game - give Gawn a chance to rest up for a full pre-season whilst giving the supporters a final farewell to acknowledge all the Russian has fought through, before he becomes our ruck coach. I can, however, see the alternate view, and wouldn't fight too strongly for this to come true.- 85 replies

Narrowing down the draft - Dees to pick between 3 mids?
Dr. Mubutu replied to Young Blood's topic in Melbourne Demons
Glad you agree, ET. -
Honestly, if we're after a 2nd ruck/forward, he's one of the best in the business. For the price we'd have to pay though, it would be a pass from me. Sydney (and he) would be asking more than Clark was.

Given our current list.......surely it'd be massively front-ended?
-
It's why I actually (and keep this to yourselves) rate Carey. He only talks up North if they've actually deserved it.

All players get match payments, it's in their CBA. From what I can find, all players, plus injured players, get a match payment. http://aflagents.com.au/images/uploads/CBA_-_2012-2016_FINAL.pdf

Jack Watts has kicked 7.3 from set shots this year. Maybe check before you generalise?

Deals are not only players. There are sponsorship deals made that I have no doubt would not have been made without Roos as coach. Bernie might not have come over if Goodwin was not the coach-in-waiting (again, part of Roos being here). Also, I don't think anybody else would have laid pick 2 on the line. But that's just me. That was his point, Chris.
-
Yes we would. Roos has the name, which allowed him to land a few deals and players that we otherwise would not have been able to. It also allowed us to limp to 4 wins in 2014 without attracting too much attention to another poor season. You may be right that they aren't too dissimilar (I'd actually agree), but Roos has the industry on his side, which has really been invaluable.

Narrowing down the draft - Dees to pick between 3 mids?
Dr. Mubutu replied to Young Blood's topic in Melbourne Demons
Let's not get too attached to any player until after the trade period, guys..... Plenty to happen between now and the draft. -
Delistings/trades at end of the season
Dr. Mubutu replied to Northern Summer's topic in Melbourne Demons
Isn't that a good thing? No longer leaking like a sieve to anyone who will listen.
