I voted for Wines initially, because of mateship connection with Viney, and thought he was exactly what we needed. Although i was unhappy we didnt draft him, i have now moved on, and look forward to seeing Toumpas develop over the years. One day , Wines may want to come back to Victoria, and we may be a chance in the future,knowing it was Neeld who rejected him,and the fact that he is no longer the coach.

I agree Westhoff had a sensational game, and finished off the good work of the midfield, but without Wines and co. it wouldnt had made it to the forwards.

Wines is as tough as they come, will become a genuine A grader. He was the one who kept Port in the game and in a position to win it.

I would be surprised if he ever played again, considering he hasnt played for two years,and he still keeps getting injured.

Exactly seems like depression to me...the way the statement from the club is worded,its like the injury is secondary to the "health problems" he is experiencing.

Mitch is taking a break from the club.....a friend who was there asked one of the players where he was and revieved a forlorn reply that he had done a calf,and now needs a break fromthe club and footy. If he is doing all these injuries with basically zero stress load, how the hell is he ever going to play footy again.

Ill still stick with the Demon boy Toumpas thanks. One of the major problems on here is , you cant interpret tone. A little bit of tongue in cheek humour amd a smile , is how the "toumpas will be better than wines" comment should be taken. Its also a slight dig at those that are saying Wines is a better footbealler than toumpas.....meaning its far too early to tell. Ive seen footballers blitz in their first years and not really gone on with it, and ive also seen others who take a little more time but become champs. Lets just wait and see how the year progresses shall we?
