Interest Factor in football these days almost dead
DeeZee replied to Soidee's topic in Melbourne Demons
Nothing about being soft.....its just pointless when all the club brings is pain amd misery. Ive been going nearly every week since 1967 and never seen a premiership, dont think i ever will. Im tough enough and could never change clubs as they are a part of me, but once your kids grow up and they are scared to put on a melbourne jumper by fear of being ridiculed, well that just about destroys your love of football. -
Interest Factor in football these days almost dead

I know how you feel. I got myself up for an improved effort this year. Didnt take long for the baloon to burst. If we have a win or two over the next three games i reckon ill be ressurected, but if we have another three bad losses in a row, ill have to switch off footy for the year just for sanitys sake. -
I think the writings on the wall. Id actually be surprised if he didnt retire.

I dont think we will agree and thats ok.Watts kicking was sublime against richmond and st kilda and we know someone like Toumpas has good kicking skills, as does Vince for example. Enough evidence. Skills ,and big game pressure by being unable to execute ,are two different things, which gets us back to the original topic, its all in the head. I do understand what your saying though its skills under pressure and i agree, but to lack the basic skills of taking a chest mark and missing a team mate by five metres is just not on.....lets hope we get better old Dee.
-
Have to disagree here, thats why i gave the examples of what Vince said and the geelong and richmond game. If they cant hack the pressure in a "real" game, then it is because of their state of mind, mental pressure, or perceived pressure.
-
It is in their head. Your telling me they cant take a simple chest mark, or miss a 30 metre pass by 5 metres? They do it at training all the time. I saw them all pre season and their skills were fine. Even Bernie vince commented that he was impressed and surprised at the skill and fitness level. They showed it against richmond , and for two quarters against Geelong. Its mental alright, and the sooner we unlock the key the better.

Finally Kingy Talks Sense - Free Agency is a Disaster

It has made our sport similar to the premier league, where four or five top clubs stay successful over long periods of time bleeding talent from the bottom clubs. They have made it so its almost a no brainer to leave your club if they dont have success. Moloney, Rivers,Sylvia......Frawley will be next. -
Same here, but football has become a chore, never ending nightmare. Its like groundhog day year after year after year. Roos has to fix this, otherwise this great club will die.
-
How do you know?

WTF is wrong with this guy? Had a really good year last year, and has taken about 20 steps backwards this year. Had so many chances to give us something and cement his spot. His form isnt even average this year, its deplorable.

One of the current players fathers told me on sunday that its simply because he is so damn frustrated at not getting fit to play, and he is getting paid all this money, it is doing his head in.
-
Max King?
-
Tom Mcdonald reminds me so much of Jim Stynes in size and body shape. Imagine him in the Ruck.....would certainly take a few marks around the ground, and has great endurance. Could drift forward of down back to fill a hole.
-
Not talking about the effort , just the skill errors
-
What i dont get is how we can lose confidence overnight. We looked great in the Richmond game.
-
Jones Tyson Vince Cross Dunn Watts had a great first game and an average second game, still too early to tell, but i think he will make the top five or six by end of year.
-
I have a feeling this is our line in the sand moment. Reckon we will run out and rip heads off on Sunday.
-
With Tyson, jones and cross in the middle and vince and viney going in there im confident that area is sorted.
-
Go Jonesy! Time to get tough on those who aren't pulling their weight. Shape up or ship out!

The Northey and Daniher eras kept me going. I was in my twenties when all that started happening, and had been going to the footy since i was a boy when we were pretty bad, so when we made the finals for the first time in twenty years , it was one of the happiest days of my life.
-
We need some big beefy types who can take a grab. Hogans the best recruit weve had in years next to Tyson....its just unfortunate hows its panned out so far with the injuries.
-
40,000 is a pipe dream unless we make finals in ten years time maybe.

In my relationship, the leader of the opposition barracks for hawthorn, i wish id let him go for them instead to save him all the misery.

This happens to me every year, my son is now 12 and he used to love footy, he came to the saints game last week with new hope, but after the game said i thought we were going to be better this year dad. Didnt come yesterday for obvious reasons. This is what this team has done, it has killed the love of football for so many young Dees...... My son has seen three wins in five years of watching footy, thats a disgrace, football shouldnt be like this.

It looks like they are thinking too much about this stupid new game plan. We finally get players that can win the ball in the middle and we bloody kick it backwards. There is no natural instinct to run and take the game on....Roos is not the messiah, his game plan is dated, and only works if you have a super skillfull team....our boys are so worried about making a mistake they are turning it over, its written all over their faces.
