WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY
mordja replied to einstein251's topic in Melbourne Demons
anyone know where the stats are for that game? some boffin will have kept them (bless them) -
Given Nicho was named on the (extended) bench, does it follow that he is eligible to play and has thus been promoted to the senior list? Or am I missing something?

Jack Trengove on tonight's (Wednesday) Footy Show
mordja replied to wattsup's topic in Melbourne Demons
Doing well, easing into it -
Jack didn't dominate in 2 v.wet games that went for about 5 minutes. I know I was livid...... nothing to see here, moving on.

Moloney to Essendon half-baked rumour..?
mordja replied to Arsene Wenger's topic in Melbourne Demons
Seems unlikely that it was a time issue mate, for memory Essendon were locked down in a room with GCS trying to get Caddy deal done, which was the reason we couldn't get in there? If they were after Beamer they weren't being too active.- 71 replies

Love the fixture but have to agree. We can't dodge every issue for fear that Eddie will get upset. I get the feeling Neeld doesn't give a rats a$$ and that's fine by me.
-
Interesting that they would bother to get upset while he's under contract. He must be gone from the pies next year, else they would just offer him more money or try to entice him to stay.

Good stuff dee-luded. Go Dees

Mate, HUN article (here http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/jonathan-brown-back-to-lead-lions-in-nab-cup/story-e6frf9jf-1226278196711) says 7.10pm Fox are carrying it.

His brother would not get a game for our back line but with poor disposal sits well with Rance, Edwards etc down at the tigers

Yes, it let every other player get there on time but stopped Sam at every intersection. I like it.

Leadership group announced; Grimes and Trengove co-captains
mordja replied to Striker475's topic in Melbourne Demons
Franky, Ive had the pleasure of Jack Grimes' company half a dozen times through the Future Fund and other events. Distinctly remember speaking to him at a function before he had played a game for us. Was super impressive then, and certainly is now. Im 10 years older than Jack and I really try not to play the fanboy role, but have been very stoked on two occasions where he as walked up to me twice before or after a function (away from the event and not wearing dees gear) and taken the time to have a chat without me initiating it. (I suppose that this may only prove that he's a good bloke and remembers faces, but he is very impressive in person). -
Beamer. Whether or not I agree with that, wasnt really the issue. The lecture he was trying to give Neeld on "taking the soft option and not picking Green because he was soft" made the half dozen people around us visibly cringe. (NB - I disagree with his position on Green being soft but whatever...again not the point). but FMD the winner was when Neeld tried to say something logical in reply to him he interrupted him and said "I don't want to hear your answer, I was just giving you my opinion". !!!!????? God forbid we actually hear what the coach is thinking. Neeld handled it alright and just gave him that "sure Numpty, whatever you say" look. But it detracted from what could have been an interesting insight for us. As I say, Craig was the highlight. Seemed very very happy to be there, wanted to get across that although the guys may have looked apathetic last year, it simply wasn't the case. He firmly believed they have "bought in" to the new lot of coaches and the game plan and wanted to prove themselves. (obviously you could argue the why now rather than last year angle) He took the time to explain that there was scoreboard pressure which was on the whole club, but he believed that competition for the 21+1 was far more motivating for the players now than it was last year (seems obvious i suppose). His point was that these kids can see that they wont be getting easy rides from now. Magner has absolutely ginormous arms and Couch is very well built with Sellar somewhere in between so these blokes are physically ready (even if lower skill sets). He implied that the 8 new bodies would be clambering for their chance on the field and would push the other players harder. FWIW he thought JT was a class act, was very young but similar to Dangerfield when I put it to him in that way. Sorry if that was disjointed. Edited to be closer to English.

Hate to end the dream guys but was at the AGM tonight and said hi to Neeld after. Someone asked about Chip as a FWD and to quote the coach "He looks like a forward doesn't he? ....but have u seen him kick? (implying for goal)" . MN quickly said, "I think he'll be down back" I won't go into the muppet lecturing the coach on who should be captain and telling Neeld that he "Was only giving his opinion and didn't want his thoughts" when Mark went to reply. Ludicous crazy member town makes all look stupid again. Craig was very interesting, very focused, very happy playing second fiddle and adding value to Mark.

Will be a good lead in for the season. No shame in losing to Hawks or Pies. Both will be finalists this year, we are borderline.

Cheers, I was being flippant out of frustration Dee-luded. Also appreciate the measured correction rather than the 'OMFG you got that wrong' that normally goes on ! My point was that surely we want Blease today better than Blease 3 months ago and expecting him to run side by side with our top half dozen runners just isn't happening. -

Blease : is a burst player, broke leg in half, first full preseason.....expectations of sub 10 are ludicrous. -
Believe DreamTeam is live Feb 1, Supercoach tends to be in line, however i havent seen confirmation. If you have an account from last year and you bought the stats package (supercoach gold) then you have a team picker already.
