  1. AFL loves biffo. Big on sling tackles and hands anywhere near a players back as well. I really hate winning footy games as well, so lets just ignore modern tactics...yeahhhhhhh.
  2. Although StKilda could be meeting for any number of post season debriefs, it just doesnt make any sense for him to be meeting with the team to clarify that he was going to continue as coach.....which he had already stated. Surely at most its a presser and a club announcement. Oh well, interesting times
  3. Would surprise me if DB was aiming comments at us. Would be immensely out of character. I found the drinking comments of interest however.
  4. Fev just going along beautifully. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/more-news/sickly-end-to-boozy-night-at-hotel/story-fn7x8me2-1226135142778
  5. does anyone have a link to the MFC Presser?
  6. Sorry, indeed. It wasn't our rabble. It was the umps. I will agree that the Howe decision is one of the most baffling of my life. Was it called as touched? Because if it wasnt there was no contest when it went to ground, so why a ball up?
  7. Umpiring was terrible but seriously....it was Port, who should have been wooden spooners. We had 11 behinds at half time. Blokes like Morton missing from 35 out in the clear on a slight angle etc etc. Umpiring was as bad as I had seen it, but the result was in the hands of our players. The Howe mark that was a ball up does baffle me though.
  8. Glad he's playing for us, but sadly he may have been better suited to years gone by when this was a contact sport.
  9. Teach him to read the play and run back with the flight like Rivo does and you have a deal. Completely agree he looked great.
  10. raised 10 desks....gold Thanks for the report Ron
  11. Glad to see Bail close to a return. Jamar..?
  12. Awesome exactly what I logged on to find out.
  13. No mate, sack the coach because he chose the players (which i think he did a reasonable job at) and gave them the attitude and game style they play with (which is quite obviously not up to standard) Moving on......
  14. Agree - we are now playing netball.
  15. This thread needs some kind of marker when something new is discussed. Reading it in its entirety is no less than cruel and unusual punishment.
  16. A Jarrad Grant type? Might work. I just don't know how much room there is in any team for blokes that aren't interested in contested footy. If he was getting heaps of it and not putting his head in....maybe you dont mind. But he's neither getting a heap of the pill or doing a lot of 1%ers.
  17. Doesn't seem to have rated a mention yet regarding his game on the weekend (or I've missed the thread). Put his head over it once in Q1 and then pretty much went missing. I would have thought as an outside mid with a great tank, that the port game was an opportunity to show his superior fitness and purported class but was pretty disappointing. Dozen or so touches and very little impact on the game. Seems to polarise people when it comes to his selection in the team. How long do we wait for this guy to perform without dropping him back to Casey again? Is it fair to say he wouldn't be getting a game if we didn't have 4 (arguably) of our best 22 out?
  18. Must... Stop... Reading... Thread...
  19. Anderson makes it up as he goes along, there is no way we can keep up. ruining the game.
  20. I judge myself every time i open this, its like crack without the upside.
  21. The "lets not get rid of him just yet" argument is ridiculous IMHO. He is a downhill skier that has shown very little and lacks serious heart. The concern that he may be worth something in the future is just wishful thinking. More likely he would be better in a developed midfield where he has protection and doesn't have to go hard. He's not going to suddenly grow a heart. If he has currency then trade him now.
  22. Had a massive 2 for the game and didn't trouble the goal umpire so not sure what your point is, Jordie gave away at least 2 frees for holding Cotchin but won that battle, one contest isnt the game or a reflection of the players ability. You asked what made me think he has the capability, I am pointing out that the FD obviously does. Im not sure that I said he was perfect....
  23. Nicholson was tagging (Nahas?) for a portion of last week wasn't he?
  24. Happy to see that come to pass. I agree with previous posters that Strauss probably isn't playing his natural game yet. Perhaps as he gets more time he will play harder, kick better. Not complaining that our depth is improving, I just don't think Strauss would be in our best team if all were available. You make a fair point AB that there is room for a Nicho type on the bench. Really like his style.
  25. Purely my opinion old55 and i dont have anything against Strauss, he seems like a great guy on the couple of times ive met him. However, besides the fact that I haven't seen Strauss do anything to show he will make the grade(happy to be proved wrong), they are both there as a designated kicking role and small/mid size. If you are going to keep Barts, why would you have another two short defenders? Grimes, Rivers, Garland, Frawley, Bartram, Tapscott...if you want to put Joel Mac in that mix im not sure that there is room for Strauss.
