  1. He's. Played. 7. Games. For every new Watts thread that is started, I'm going to kill a puppy. It's getting ridiculous now.
  2. I can't imagine us finishing last. Even though West Coast beat us, we're still a better team than them atm. And we're miles ahead of Richmond. We'll get 1-3 more wins for the season, don't worry. We have our best chance to win at AAMI in 2 weeks in years. We might even go in favourites depending on how we play today. Also, Essendon at the MCG a few weeks later. Also got Richmond, North and Hawthorn, all at the MCG. All winnable. Can't imagine Richmond winning more than 4 games.
  3. Goes to show how having d-grade facilities has hurt this team. Our drafting has never been an issue imo. It's giving players the opportunity to take the next step up from being just a good player. We just can't do it. Hopefully the tide is turning with Casey, Olympic Park, etc. People really underestimate its affect on this club. It's almost killed it in every way (on and off the field).
  4. It's funny. Someone goes on TV and abuses an umpire or an official or even another player, and they essentially get a slap on the wrist. Being an abusive homophobic these days gets you a petty fine. But a late change in a football game only really affects the opposition, and is their having to rush around to change their line-up really worth $15,000? What a crock.
  5. Wow, you guys are optimistic. They're going to have 17 top 20 draft picks over the space of two years. Plus the high picks after that. Plus Ablett and a few other good-quality AFL players. There's no way anyone comes close to that Gold Coast from 2013-2022 imo. They are going to be a superstar team. They have the best of the best up there atm in terms of the football department. The more I think about it, the more I think the success of our young players must improve dramatically. We can't have as many young players drop out like they used to. And to be honest, I'm not sure the MFC can do that. We'll be a very good team in 3-4 years. But I believe by that time our success will be aggressively compromised by the GWS and GC.
  6. Hmm, poor teams typically do better in the wet, because the skill level overall drops. We play good in the wet because we are not a very good team in the dry yet.
  7. The initial optimism was for us to improve this year, which we have in every aspect. I'm not entirely sure what you expect, but then again, so many people are expecting a one Jack Watts to lead the goal kicking table after only 7 games. We're still a pretty crap team. 40 point losses to finals teams like Carlton are to be expected. I can't imaging us winning anymore than 2-3 more games this year, if that. But I won't be disappointed in that, because I expected around 6 wins. We are still so far off from being a good team. We will see fades of the future (game vs. Brisbane, for example), but we will also see the team going back into its shell (games vs. Carlton).
  8. The impression I get is that Twitter is a very "on the go" kind of social interaction, and I doubt he was siting at his computer with a list of players in front of him, hoping to name all of them. Not naming Petterd is no big deal. Players get left out of lists off the time when they're named off the top of someone's head.
  9. Norf trying to recapturing their marketing presence like in the 90s. Only difference is, they have no player that looks even remotely close to ever being a superstar and/or marketable player; they don't have Carey anymore. It'll be the type of game to get 35,000 and for Norf that'll be the best home crowd they've played in front of in years. Friday night is reserved for teams traveling well. Simple. Once we start winning games we'll be back on there. From 2000-2007 we had a number of Friday/Saturday night games every season.
  10. Yeah, we're still a fairly poor team. Improved on last year, which was an improvement on 2009, but we're still a bottom 5 team. I still stand by the opinion that we won't be playing finals footy until 2012. I don't think the club has intentions to be playing finals before then as well.
  11. The fact that we have no targets up forward contributes a lot to this. Also, we've had more bursts of goals this year than we have previous years. Didn't we kick 8 in one quarter against Brisbane?
  12. Pretty generous this week. Especially compared to last week, although this week was arguably a far worse performance.
  13. Beat me to it. I'd be a little embarrassed to even ask to be their friend to be honest. A fan page or a page made specifically for fans to join (like Jones' Twitter page) I can do, but not their own personal page.
  14. I can't imagine a crowd higher than 65k. Even that is pushing it. Probably 60k AT THE MOST I reckon.

    For Sale

We're talking about Bate and Davey's inability to use their opposite foot? Cameron Bruce says a big hello.
  16. I was initially very angry when he came out and said we had no brand. I now think it was his comments that kick started this (hopeful) revival.
  17. I am going to boo him until my throat is sore and I'm coughing up blood.
  18. How exactly is this stat meaningless? We are the worst performed team in the last 15 years. It's right there. I think most of you are delusional. Daniher only had like a 48% win/loss record with us, and there was no "AMAZING" season, just a few really good ones. There was always that brain snap sometime during the season where we just lost it for a few weeks. Then we always had that one year down the bottom where we only win 5 games. That's 17 losses. In all of our winning years over the past 15 years, we've NEVER had 17 wins and 5 losses. Did we ever lose less than 8 games? We have been the joke of the competition for 45 years. No doubt about it. Worst win/loss record over a 15 year span. No flag for 45 years. This is why this rebuilding phase is the most important. It MUST succeed. I'm not sure this team can survive another 4-5 years out of contention like we are in the middle of now. We've been a very poor club, so everything needs to completely change now.
  19. I hope we destroy the Bloos this weekend.
  20. lol it's pretty funny. Bay 13 would be having a field day with this.
  21. I thought we did particularly well considering: A. We were coming off a hard win against Port in 80% humidity and 30 degree weather. B. Coming into a stadium we've won once at in 20 years C. Playing arguably the greatest team of all time Plenty of teams did a lot worse. Collingwood lost by 6 goals at the MCG. Considering out inexperience, fused together with the Darwin game implications, and you have a team that is potentially 3-20 goals worse that Collingwood team. It could have gone A LOT worse. What you take a lot of things into consideration, they held their own for most of the game, never quite letting Geelong break lose, only in bursts, before we came back with 1-3 goals of our own. I'm not accepting mediocrity, but it's probably the only 9 goal less that I actually haven't really cared about.
  22. At the end of the day, if you can talk the talk, you better be able to walk the walk. Geelong can walk alright. If one of our players did that during the song after we'd won out 80th game of the past 73, I'd probably laugh.
