That's your opinion and that's fine but to say that Rivers is hardly an area of strength is a total lack of respect to the man and the role he plays in the team IMO.

I can see it all now. Melbourne trade Rivers for pick 9 who turns out to be another Luke Molan and never plays a game. Garland misses all of next year with an injury while Warnock and Frawley pick up some injuries next year also and are in and out of the side. Meanwhile Rivers plays every game for Hawthorn after a full pre-season and is in his 2004 form and is in All Australian mix at CHB. Terrible idea to trade away from one of our few areas of strength. Rivers, Garland, Frawley and Warnock can all play in the one team, it's not like they're keeping eachother out of the 22. We already have picks 1, 2 & 18 and I'm sure one of Panos, Vardy or Carlisle will be available by then. After our 3 picks in the top 20 last year we don't need another top 20 pick, we're already one of the youngest lists in the comp, there's nothing wrong with having some players on our list with some experience.
-
Is disappointing. Hopefully if they win there'll be a bigger list of Melbourne players playing next week as they won't have the hang over from Mad monday as an excuse for not playing.

Newton to West Coast for pick 71 (we wont use) Bell to Port Adelaide for pick 72 (we wont use) Miller, Valenti, Hughes, Zomer, Healey delist. Spencer promote. McKenzie another year on rookie list. NATIONAL DRAFT PICKS: 1. Scully 2. Trengove 18. Panos, Carlisle or Vardy 34. Daw PSD PICKS: 1. A. Silvagni ROOKIE PICKS: D. Grimes other best available (at least one ruck)

How many games did you attend this season?
MadAsHell replied to Adam The God's topic in Melbourne Demons
Round 1 - North Melbourne MCG Round 2 - Collingwood MCG Round 4 - Richmond MCG Round 6- Geelong MCG Round 11 - Collingwood MCG Round 12 - Essendon DS Round 14 - West Coast MCG Round 15 - Port Adelaide MCG Round 19 - North Melbourne DS Round 20 - Fremantle MCG Round 21 - Carlton DS Round 22 - St. Kilda MCG Missed Round 4 due to booking wedding venue, round 8 & 9 due to being in hospital & round 18 due to the other halfs fathers b'day. Otherwise would have made it 16 for the year. -
Big no to trading Rivers, he's the leader of our back line and with the list of departures from the club, after McDonald, Bruce and Green Rivers would be close to our next most experienced players. I'm all for youth but we need some older and more experienced players to remain at the club. Also as far as I'm aware Rivers is one of MFC's untouchables as far as trading goes.
-
This wouldn't land us an extra pick but would improve our positioning. How about Buckley and pick 18 to Collingwood for 14. Collingwood have always been happy to make trades swapping picks before and this could allow us to grab Vardy who can play as a KP forward and in the ruck. Thoughts?
-
Then by all means please, tell me out of that 22 who would you have them in place of?
-
Number 13 for Jackovich/Yze old number or 45 for Wheels old number.
-
Don't get me wrong if their form is demanding of them to be included then by all means play them, but if we have a fully fit squad I think it would be good to make them earn their stripes through the VFL rather then coming in at the expense of others. The only player out of my 22 I had the automatically ahead of was Bennell who plays a different role to both of Scully and Trengove.
-
He sounds good for 18, add maybe D. Grimes at 34 for another young tall for cover down back?
-
FB: Frawley, Warnock, Bennell HB: Garland, Rivers, Green C: Morton, Moloney, Davey HF: Sylvia, Bate, Petterd FF: Watts, Jurrah, Wonna FOLL: Jamar, Bruce, McLean INT: Grimes, Jones, Martin, McDonald EMERG: Bartram, Miller, Scully Lets make Scully and Trengove earn it through the VFL at least to start with. I'm sure they'll probably be in within a matter of weeks but I still like the look of the team injury free.
-
One of Matthew Panos, Nathan Vardy or Jake Carlisle. Surely one of them will be available?
-
6- Sylvia 5- Morton 4- Jurrah 3- Moloney 2- Rivers 1- McDonald

Yes it would be. Rohan could probably go as high as 3 but I just don't trust Richmond with their recruiting. Picks 1 - 10 are now set once we loose today looking: 1. Melbourne 2. Melbourne 3. Richmond 4. Fremantle 5. North Melbourne 6. Sydney 7. West Coast 8. Port Adelaide 9. Hawthorn 10. Essendon (assuming they loose to Adelaide week 1 of finals) Only change I could see to those picks will be if Sydney or Hawthorn trade for Lake and Bulldogs end up with a top 10 pick. Martin I reckon will go 6 - 12, although both West Coast and Port will be keen to take locals and if the Bulldogs do have a top 10 pick will be desperate for Talia. As for Morabito though, I reckon he's a lock on pick 4!
-
As glad as I am to see the Hawks miss the finals I hate Essendon like no other Victorian team so would have rathered see them miss out.

Last year I predicted 1. Watts (correct) 2. Nik Nat (correct) 3. Rich (ended up being Hill) 4. Hartlett (correct) 5. Hurley (correct) 6. Ziebell (ended up being Yarran) 7. Yarran (ended up being Rich!) 8. Vickery (corrrect) 9. Robinson (Was way off! Ended up being Ziebell) 10. Hill (ended up being Davis) This year I'm thinking 1. Scully (Melbourne) 2. Trengove (Melbourne) 3. Moore (Richmond) *Trust me Richmond will stuff this up! 4. Morabito (Fremantle) 5. Butcher (North Melbourne) 6. Lucas (West Coast) 7. Rohan (Sydney) 8. Talia (Essendon) 9. Tapscott (Port Adelaide) 10. Cunnington (Hawthorn)
-
I'm just looking forward to draft day watching Richmond stuff up their picks by drafting Andrew Moore at pick 3 instead of Morabito or Butcher only for the fact that they have Andrew's brother Kelvin already on the list!
-
Scully 31, Trengove 9.
-
Wouldn't touch him unless it was through PSD. Don't really want to see us trading unless it's to improve our position in the draft and to get rid of some dead wood.

Any chance of Max Gawn slipping through from Sandringham Dragons to the rookie draft seeing as he missed a chunk of the season with a knee injury? Club: Sandringham Dragons Height: 206cm Weight: 97kg DOB: 28/12/91

I for one feel that Flash is ready but I guess that decission is up to the club. Personally next year I'd like to see: A. Davey © B. McLean (vc) However if the club feels Davey isn't quite ready and possibly needs another 2 years to demand that role then I'd like to see: B. Green © A. Davey (vc) Don't forget Daniher talked up Davey as a potential captain several years ago.
-
Top 7 in no particular order will be: Bruce Davey Frawley McLean Moloney Rivers Sylvia

Being wrapped in cotton wool so he'll be ready for the pre-season. Decided he could concentrate on his studies after his broken finger. A shame though, would have been great experience for him.
