  1. Agree with you there Belzebud59 in that it really is the only way to get there as there is no parking. However this can be rectyfied by the AFL. For example open up the MCG parking and have a few express trains from Jolimont to VP just as one thought? And although it would take 3-4 years before VP would be up and running the way the contact works with Docklands 44 games a year have to be played there until the end of 2014. Therefore if we did have a new stadium next year almost no games would be played there. So that' why I believe it's still a better option then PP. Just in my opinion mind you. And Nugget Jones the biggest problem with the transport to PP in my opinion is the trams are always to packed and not frequent enough. Think most people would rather go the train then tram, but again that's only my opinion. I do see why some people would prefer PP mind you.
  2. I can understand the feeling towards VP however as a solution to the stadium deals I think it's the best solution. Already on a train line which PP isn't. A 35,000 seat stadium there would be ideal (based off Westpac stadium in Wellington NZ) especially for St. Kilda, Roos and Bulldogs. I'd imagine 3 would be the most amount of games we'd have to play there as MCG deal isn't as bad as Docklands. Bottom line is VP and PP are the only shorter term options and VP would be the most easily accessed by the public.
  3. IN: Bell, Spencer (McNamara), Whelan OUT: Bartram, Frawley (inj), Rivers (inj) Spencer I agree is an automatic inclusion if fit. If not I'd give McNamara a go. Bell will be a automatic inclusion to take the Bulldogs best medium size forward and I think it's time Whelan came back. Bartram is unlucky as Dunn could be the best to be dropped but I do like having Dunn there as an option to go forward. FB: Bell, Warnock, Whelan HB: Bate, Martin, Bennell C: Morton, Moloney, Davey HF: Sylvia, Miller, Petterd FF: Dunn, Robertson, Maric Foll: Spencer, Bruce, McLean Int: Grimes, Johnson, Jones, McDonald Emerg: Bartram, McNamara, Newton
  4. Word is Frawley will miss one or two so should be right for QB. No idea on Rivers as yet. I'm hoping he'll only miss the one at worst.
  5. By 2011 he'll be playing on the ball in a Kouta type role. He showed today what we've all known he poseses.
  6. Wouldn't it be so sweet! hehe.
  7. 6. Morton 5. Jones 4. Grimes 3. Bruce 2. Moloney 1. Bennell
  8. Agree. Would love to see him playing with Casey while also maintaining a part time mentoring role with Melbourne's young aborigonal players. He's been a great servant of the club.
  9. Ah yes I did forget, McNanara's about 189-190cm isn't he? Is he physically able to play tall, or not quiet there yet?
  10. Yes i'll admit I was one of them, but that was only because of managing him throughout a long first year. On his form today you wouldn't drop him. Still think they should be careful with him however. He will be a gun this guy!
  11. Lets hope so, otherwise if we were to be missing Rivers, Frawley and Garland all next week they'd need to look at including someone like Bell as the 3rd tall. Lets hope bad sprain and a possability to return next week.
  12. Ok I've been doing a bit more research into Princes Park, Victoria Park and other grounds and what the best outcome could be for all clubs, in particular Melbounre, St. Kilda, Western Bulldogs and North Melbourne as far as another venue goes. Princes Park has it's issues because of parking and public transport. Because of this it is why I think the best thing for the AFL to do would be to completely rebuild Victoria Park using Westpac Stadium in Wellington New Zealand www.westpacstadium.co.nz/ as something to model the stadium off (capacity 34,500) to be ready for the start of the 2015 season when only 30 games have to be played at Docklands. Victoria Park is on a train line, parking is an issue however is an issue easier to solve then public transport. The Saints, Roos and Bulldogs could all play half a dozen games there each and Melbourne if need be could play up to 3 games there. Also with Victoria Park being a AFL listed ground can be up and going within 5/6 years rather then waiting 16 years before a brand new stadium can be built.
  13. I agree Casey would work, I think if you were going to go for a suburban area the best bets would be Casey, Frankston, Dandenong or maybe even Williamstown?
  14. I think the way the stadium deal works with Docklands is that after 2014 the minimum amount of games that can be played there is reduced from 44 to 30. If an arrangement is made where a new stadium can be built it would be fantastic if Melbourne in conjunction with say St. Kilda, North Melbourne and Western Bulldogs could have a 30,000 seat stadium built in either the city or inner suburbs and host 3 matches (against interstate clubs) each there. Obviously would need backing from the AFL, government and what not but could be the solution these 4 clubs are looking for.
  15. Sorry Morton2Watts & IWAP, I see you've already raised my point, cheers.
  16. Don't forget the bombers had a 2 year head start on getting high draft picks into their list by finishing bottom 4 in 05 and 06 while we were playing finals. Give ot 2 years and I suspect in 2011 you'll have a very good match between the two sides which I'd like our chances of winning.
  17. Agree, saturday night with the roof closed perfect conditions and we still beat that on a sunday evening at the G in horrible weather. Wonder if the media will get off our backs then for once and instead ask where all the North supporters were.
  18. Agree, the period between now and round 15 are our biggest days of the draw. We can't afford to win many games for our future, cause in the last 7 weeks we have games against North Melbourne, Richmond and Fremantle we are capable of winning. If we don't win any games over the next 9 weeks then we're safe but if we win one or two we'll have some interesting games come later in the year.
  19. Love the passion and I'd love it if we could play all 11 of our home games at the G. The only question is can we? This year we've made some steps in the right direction with sponsors, aliance with MCC, playing performance, members and players. Lets hope we can keep this up and become a force on and off the field in the coming years.
  20. Glad to see Grimes back in the side, the more games he gets this year, the better sted it will put him in for the coming years. Now lets all hope we put up a good showing and go down by about 15-20 points.
  21. Assuming we go with the Johnson/Martin combination on sunday which it looks like we are does anyone know how far off Spencer and Jamar are? I'm assuming Bailey would want Jamar to have at least 2 games with Casey before playing with Melbourne?
  22. Agree, I can't stand Docklands, and the fact you need about 36,000 there to break even is a joke. Also our record there isn't the best. Can't wait till 2025!
  23. I must admit I paid the ultimate sacrifice. I was a member at the start of the year but to get my fiance (who's a saints fan) to also take one out I had to take a saints membership out also. I figured it was worth it, the more members the better!
  24. Ah yes I remember that kick, well and truely a point! But a wins a win. The way I see it if Aussie Jones's out on the full against Brisbane at the dome back in 04 was a point, then Junior's behind this game in 98 was a goal. Think that was the first time I ever saw him play also.
  25. I'm suprised, I thought they'd be going to see them win. I know I hope they win! Only 4 wins please!! hehe.
