Warnock = FB Rivers = CHB Frawley/Garland = Can play on 3rd/4th talls or even dangerous smalls who are good overhead such as S. Johnson, Medhurst, Porplyzia etc.
-
There was also the rumor about Jamar wanting to go back home, don't know how true that is though?
-
Make it Pick 9 & Dowler and I'd be more interested.
-
He'll get drafted at either pick 9 to Hawthorn or pick 10 to Essendon.
-
I was under the impression that Buckley was contratced for next year, but if not then Buckley and trade Newton and Bell for low picks we wont have to use. If McNamara does want our as rumor has it then Buckley would be spared for one more year.

Nope it's no advantage for us apart from having the chance to have seen him up close and in the flesh. It's just like how flash was invited to spend a season with Port Melbourne when they were aligned with North and Jurrah played some games with Collingwood's reserves, they still had to go into the draft and couldn't go straight to those clubs. Very fortunate for us also I must say.

Same reason Daniel Rich and Mitch Robinson drifted last year and why Lance Franklin drifted in his draft. Whether some clubs are shopping for certain players in certain positions or wanting to draft home grown talent someone always seems to drift in each and every draft. As Martin isn't super quick, ala Morabito or Rohan and isn't as much of a goal kicking midfielder, ala Trengove, Cunnington or Moore and there's only a few top KP players available, ala Butcher and Talia. Throw in Lucas (WA) and Tapscott (SA) who West Coast and Port might be more keen to consider at picks 7 & 8 I just feel Martin might be one to go around the pick 10 mark rather then pick 5 mark. Saying that I might be totally wrong, but it's just a suspicion I have.

If he's happy to come to Melbourne through the PSD maybe we could then trade Warnock with pick 34 to Carlton for pick 11. That would free up the Full back position, Warnock could play with his brother at Carlton giving them another key defender which they need and also give us a 4th pick in the top 20! Could speed up our improvement. Who knows with a good injury run with Lake at FB we could even challenge for 7th or 8th a year early?
-
Very good player but I don't know about pick 2. I've got no doubt he could go as high as pick 5, however I have a feeling that he could be the driffter in this draft and end up at Carlton at pick 11, ala Daniel Rich to Brisbane pick 7 in 2008 National Draft.

Watts did play 3 games so he does fall into being eligable. Appology to Cheney, McNamara and Spencer for not including them in the poll, I thought the award was for the new draftees only, didn't realise it was for the year you make you debut.
-
You do make a good point, I guess if he did want out he could just walk out and hope one of the SA clubs pick him up in one of the drafts.
-
Just interested in everybodys thoughts as to who will win the best 1st year player. Think it has to go Jurrah although Bennell and Jetta have shown a bit also.
-
Where did you hear that?
-
I've heard a few comments here and there on this site about Tom McNamara having not signed a new contract and wanting to be traded back to SA. Does anyone know if this rumor is true or if in fact it is just that a rumor? Haven't hear anything in relation to Jamar requesting a trade back home recently so I thought this may be just like that one and idle gossip. If anyone does know anything more though please say what the situation is? Not to sure what we would get for Tommy in a trade? Maybe throw in pick 34 and you could get Adelaide or Port's 2nd round pick?
-
Glad I'm not a Carlton supporter, you'd be absolutely shattered. Reminded me be a bit of the 2002 semi between Melbourne and Adelaide when the dees went down after being up by 20 points in the final term. Mind you I think that one was more shattering for us because of the way we had come back from 40 points down. Makes next friday night a bit of a non-contest but I'll still be cheering the Lions and TJ on all the same.

VFL record said that Kyle Cheney was eligable to play and Jordie McKenzie was also. So dissapointed they couldn't make an appearance, although they may have picked up injuries against the Saints who knows? Wouldn't have made much of a difference but would have been great to see the likes of Watts, Blease & Strauss out there if they hadn't of picked up those injuries during the year. There's always next year I guess!

Artilcle in todays Age saying Melbourne's in the hunt for the Docker wingman who wants to be traded. What does everyone think? He's a decent player but a no from me unless it's through the PSD. I only want to see us trade for draft picks personally.
-
That can't be right I was at the game and left at 3/4 time and Collingwood were 19.20.134 to 6.4.40.
-
The only way I would trade pick 2 is if it was: 1) To Richmond for Vickery and pick 3 or 2) To Port for Boak & picks 8 & 24 if we threw in pick 34 as a sweetner.
-
*We trade Bell & Newton and at least 1 other player to make room on our list for picks 1, 2, 18, 34, PSD 1 & to elevate Spencer. *Upgrade pick 18 or 34 if possible, if not don't worry about it. *Only trade a player like Jamar or Rivers if they're requesting out, otherwise the 3rd player we should be looking to trade should be someone like Miller, Buckley, Johnson, Dunn or McNamara. *Don't trade for players from other clubs, only picks.
-
I thought that also but when Geelong traded King to St. Kilda for pick 90 or whatever it was the Saints didn't use that pick. I assume the rules must have been changed to try and encourage more trading?
-
Can go forward also. Plus he would provide cover. Look at what happened with all of Hawthorn's key defenders this year, always good idea to have someone extra to call upon.
-
For the weekend: Friday Night: Couldn't of cared less. hate them both. Saturday: Western Bulldogs Saturday Night: Carlton Sunday: St. Kilda St. Kilda for the flag.

Couldn't have said it any better myself....Or had the patience to write as much. Rivers a must keep for mine!
