  1. Sorry I don't buy it. I know mistakes happen but how you can confuse Waite from Carlton with Watts from Melbourne is pretty suss if you ask me?
  2. Hey Jaded you need to update your tracker. Aren't you going to start it afresh again and have Rivers down for 1.0 games uninjured?
  3. While I'll agree that he should probably retire at seasons end I can't see him getting dropped and I don't think we'll be seeing Watts until round 14 at the absolute earliest. And I don't agree on Valenti. He's a decent VFL player and may very well get promoted at seasons end, but a lot of others are ahead of him in our midfield pecking order IMO.
  4. Will be the round 11 NAB rising star nominee when we knock off the Filth.
  5. I would have been there but I'm sitting in a hospital bed at the moment. Hope that's a good enough excuse. I'll be there QB, don't you worry!
  6. I stand by what I said still. I don't see why a team with McLean, Jones, Moloney, Blease, Davey, Scully, Morton & Grimes making up the midfield wouldn't be able to take it up to and beat most other midfields. Will have the right mixture of pace, toughness and skill needed.
  7. I would say that Bulldogs would take him over Boyd for sure.
  8. Nope! We already have Blease, Morton and Davey and potetialy Scully will become part of this midfield also who all will add plenty of pace. Even Essendon who are regarded the fastest team have both Watson and Stanton in their midfield who 2 years ago were both regarded slow.
  9. I like Miller but think he'll find himself in trouble if Watts and Jurrah are able to develop and we end up drafting young Butcher. Miller may find himself heading back North at the end of next year?
  10. Great wrap up thanks Dappa Dan, I'd also like to pay special mention to Rivers. Didn't get a lot of it but did a great job on Franklin after he carved up Frawley in the opening term. Very pleasing performance from the team today.
  11. Don't say such things agent 99 we can and will finish last as long as we apply ourselves! We have to believe that Richmond will improve and once we chalk up win number 4 any of our players who are carying slight injuries will just need to be shipped off for season ending surgery so they're right for next year while we blood the Watts's, Strauss's, Bail's, Jurrah's, McNamara's and so on......hehe.
  12. So they kicked 3.7 to 0.2 in the last and fell only 16 points shy in the end? Sounds like they could have almost won it if they'd of kicked straight?
  13. Thanks wattsup, comforting to know. Never like to hear some muppett pulling all our legs. Think they may be taking a holiday on this forum for awhile.
  14. Nothing on the foxsports website under breaking news.
  15. Just saw Scorpions are down by 39 points at 3/4 time, game over it looks. And surely that news about Watts can't be true. No way both out top 2 picks both still at high school have both suffered season ending ankle injuries.
  16. I agree was a bit of a freak Sean Charles with some of the stuff he could do. He played some brilliant games for Melbourne and even one or two for the Saints. A shame he had such a bad run with injuries but one of those players I'll never forget.
  17. Dissapointing from the seniors so far, but at least Jurrah kicked 2 and Spencer was in the best in the the 2nd's.
  18. Going off only the indigenous players that I've seen play the game my team would have to be FB: G. Wanganeen, D. White, C. Johnson HB: M. Whelan, R. Clarke, M. Long C: Pe. Matera, L. Davis, Aa. Davey HF: S. Charles, M. O'Loughlin, Ph. Matera FF: D. Motlop, L. Franklin, J. Farmer Foll: A. Goodes, N. Winmar, A. McLeod Int: C. Bateman, B. Pickett, C. Rioli, P. Ryder Emerg: P. Burgoyne, S. Burgoyne, C. Lewis
  19. Heritage match: Melbourne-v-Geelong (should always be the season opener for the two oldest clubs) St. Patricks Day match: Melbourne-v-Hawthorn (Don't know why these 2 clubs but why not?) Queens Birthday match: Melbourne-v-Collingwood (I know it's a cop out using this match but I think 3 high profile games a year is fair enough)
  20. 1. G. Lyon - Although as a little tacker the first players number I had on my back was 45 (Ricky Jackson) Lyon was my first fav player that I remember. Could play anywhere aand skills and leadership were second to none. Best Melbourne player I've seen. 2. A. Jackovich - Absolute freak. Could kick goals from anywhere and turn a match in a second. Remeber seeing him kick 4.10 out at Waverley one day against the Hawks and he dominated although didn't kick straight. Also saw him kick one of the best goals I've ever seen from the boundary line that day. 3. J. Farmer - Like Jackovich an absolute freak who could turn a game in 10 min and the crowd was always excited whenever he went anywhere near the ball. Went to the QB game in 2000 where he kicked 9 in a quarter and a half after not getting a kick in the first half. Whether in the air or on the ground he was a very strong player. Was never the same when he went to Fremantle. 4. D. Schwarz - One of the most unlucky players to play the game as he would have been even better then Carey if it weren't for his injuries. Remeber the 94 finals series where he dominated and set up many goals while kicking a few himself. Credit has to be given to him for still becoming a very good player despite the 3 knee recos and he had do adopt a different style of game. 5. D. Neitz - Legend of the club as we all know, whether at FF or CHB he was just a great leader and competitor. Shame we couldn't wina premiership for him, he deserved it as much as anyone. Special mentions also to J. Stynes, T. Viney, A. Ingerson, A. Yze & S. Tingay who would probably make up my top 10.
  21. As far as an overal list goes we certainly have much more depth and a lot more talent coming through. Their top dozen to 15 players are very good, but after that they don't have anything else coming through where as any of the players on our list apart from maybe hald a dozen could still have a big impact on our club in either the immediate or long term future. Only way Carlton can win a flag in the coming years is if they stay injury free and all their starts fire in all finals matches.
  22. I agree on Brad Miller, he's a queenslander and will be turning 28 in 2011 so I think both parties would be happy enough with the parting, especially if we pick up Butcher in the coming draft with Watts and Jurrah also developing. Expect to see Miller as the first FF and Vice-captain of the new Gold Coast team.
  23. Mine's a saints fan! Got her to sign up as a Melbourne member, though to do it I had to also sign up as a saints member. Price I had to pay but at least it's another member for us. Plus at least it's the Saints and not the filth or Richmond!
  24. Personally I think the bench should read Jamar, Jones, Bennell & Cheney. Petterd could do with a short spell and Maric & Bartram are a little stiff but they'll get chances again throughout the year no doubt. Think Bailey will rotate a few players in & out as the year goes on especially as we get closer to those 4 wins! Doesn't want the side to get to settled. Wink wink, nudge nudge.
