Should we trade pick 11? What happens if the draft is a dud?
MadAsHell replied to shimmo's topic in Melbourne Demons
1. Tom Scully 2. Jack Trengove 11. Nathan Vardy 18. Jake Carlisle or Matthew Panos Two midfielders, a ruckman and a KPF. Covering all of the areas we need. No need to trade. -

Agree 100%. Trade him for something like pick 79 from the Dogs and he clears a spot on Melbourne's list and he'd be out of contract at the Dogs in a year if he didn't work out and would have cost them nothing. A win for both clubs.

Cheers mate, will check it out. Thanks.

Was wondering if anyone knew when any of the below lised players are contratced until? S. Buckley N. Jones C. Bartram B. McLean M. Bate B. Miller J. Frawley P. Johnson C. Sylvia L. Dunn R. Petterd C. Garland D. Bell B. Moloney J. Meesen J. Rivers C. Bruce A. Wonaemirri A. Davey M. Warnock M. Jamar L. Jurrah ?????

Could go as high as number 12 I reckon. Expect Brisbane to be interested.
-
I'd like Panos at 18 also if Trengove goes at pick 2. Taking 2 SA boys in the same draft might be good as they can adjust with the move to Melbourne together. If Melbourne draft say Morabito or Rohan at pick 2 then I'd say take the safer option with Carlisle.

By the way PJ played 18 games this year.
-
When you compare their averages Jamar is ahead of Johnson in handballs per game, marks per game, goals per game and hit outs per game. Jamar is clearly our number 1 ruckman. According to Jamar, Johnson, Meesen and Spencer's stats Johnson is our number 2 ruckman followed by Meesen and then Spencer. A lot more scope for improvement in Meesen and Spencer's games also then in Johnson's.

Must say I'm suprised about Tuck. Sure he butchers the ball a bit, but he'd still have to be one of Richmond's better players.
-
Cheers for all your work KC. Lets hope for an even bigger and better year from the Scorpions next year.
-
That's a fair call, and if he wants to go back home also you have to at least entertain the idea of it. I certainly wouldn't trade him just for the sake of it.
-
I wouldn't be suprised to see Hawthorn trade picks 9 & 25 to North for Hale & Gibson in a package. North might have to throw in a 3rd round pick also, but that way Hawthorn get their ruckman and a 3rd tall defender they're after. All that will be left for them after that will be to attempt to trade for Maguire.
-
I'd be willing to trade Jamar and pick 18 for pick 8 as long as Melbourne can make sure that someone like Jamie Charman or Mark Seaby will be available in the PSD. That way we'll get the extra top 10 pick and also pick up an established ruckman for nothing who can give us 2 or 3 years while Meesen and Spencer develop their games in the VFL and will be ready to take over when needed.

HF: Sylvia, Bate, Petterd FF: Watts, Jurrah, Wonna Looking forward to seeing that forward line run out for Melbourne in round 1 next year.
-
Not one person for Rivers?
-
I love the fact that you have Carroll as an emergency.

Ah yes Robbie Flower! I've seen old videos of him play with the like of Spalding, Healy and Ricky Jackson. Shattered I wasn't old enough to remember, I was only 5 when Robbie retired so even though I did see him and some of those others play I can't really claim that I saw them cause I don't remember it. That's why I only started from 94' as I can clearly remember from then onwards.

What's Talia's ability like to play forward? I know he'll be a very good KP defender. Question would be can he do a Hurley and do it at both ends of the ground?

Adelaide: Don't know of any. Brisbane: Rumor of Charman wanting out, Dalziell wanting to go home to WA. Carlton: Talk of Hartlett wanting to return to SA. Collingwood: Don't know of any. Essendon: Lovett suppose to want out, Lloyd may walk also. Have heard talk of Houli and Jetta but not sure how accurate. Fremantle: Tarrant wants home to VIC and Peake wants out also. Not sure if Sandilands or Pavlich will request a trade. Geelong: Don't know of any, maybe Tenace? Hawthorn: Keen on everybody but not sure if anyone wants out. Expect Taylor to be traded. Melbourne: Rumor both Jamar and McNamara may want to go back to SA. North Melbourne: Gibson has walked and Harris wont get a new contract at North. Port Adelaide: Salopek allegedly wants to come back to Vic, rumors about Burgoyne wanting to be traded also. Been talk of Boak but don't know how accurate that will be. Richmond: McMahon linked to St. Kilda for some reason, although not sure why the saints would be keen. Deal apparently done to send Raines to Brisbane as soon as trade week starts. Brown and Coughlan will be available, look for Schultz's name to be out there also. St. Kilda: Talk of Ball and Maguire wanting out. Sydney: Hall will be up for trade. O'Keefe could request trade again but doubt it. West Coast: McKinley has been linked to Carlton and always talk surrounding Daniel Kerr. Hansen will be up for trade but probably no takers. Western Bulldogs: Lake may choose to walk but doubt he will. Also rumor Grifffen wanting to head back to SA. All these South Australians allegedly wanting to head home makes me nervous about Trengove. Maybe Morabito, Butcher, Rohan or Cunnington would be a safer bet on second thought?
-
How about this for a trade: McNamara, Bell & Pick 18 for pick 8! I'm sure Port would love that trade!
-
In place of Bruce? That's probably fare.
-
I thought it was only 47 with Melbourne and the rest with Bulldogs? Although I'm probably wrong. I know what you mean abou comparing this 25 to other clubs 25. But as you said hopefully in a few years time you can add the likes of Blease, Watts, Scully, Jurrah etc to it.

My best 25 is made up of palyers I can clearly remember watching play, which goes from 1994 to today. I also added my own condition of players needing to have played at least 50 games for MFC. Otherwise players such as Jackovich, Charles and Shanahan would have been included. FB: S. Wight, A. Ingerson, M. Whelan HB: C. Bruce, J. Rivers, S. Febey C: S. Tingay, S. Woewodin, T. Johnstone HF: R. Robertson, D. Schwarz, A. Davey FF: G. Lyon, D. Neitz, J. Farmer FOLL: J. Stynes, T. Viney, G. Lovett INT: B. Green, J. McDonald, J. White, A. Yze EMERG: M. Febey, A. Lovell, B. Lovett Can anyone think of anyone I may have left out who should be in for one of the 25?
