  1. Wouldn't touch him unless it was through PSD. Don't really want to see us trading unless it's to improve our position in the draft and to get rid of some dead wood.
  2. Any chance of Max Gawn slipping through from Sandringham Dragons to the rookie draft seeing as he missed a chunk of the season with a knee injury? Club: Sandringham Dragons Height: 206cm Weight: 97kg DOB: 28/12/91
  3. I for one feel that Flash is ready but I guess that decission is up to the club. Personally next year I'd like to see: A. Davey © B. McLean (vc) However if the club feels Davey isn't quite ready and possibly needs another 2 years to demand that role then I'd like to see: B. Green © A. Davey (vc) Don't forget Daniher talked up Davey as a potential captain several years ago.
  4. Top 7 in no particular order will be: Bruce Davey Frawley McLean Moloney Rivers Sylvia
  5. Being wrapped in cotton wool so he'll be ready for the pre-season. Decided he could concentrate on his studies after his broken finger. A shame though, would have been great experience for him.
  6. Yes but Luke Molan when delisted went to Frankston in the VFL and couldn't even get a regular game with them.
  7. Your 100% correct on that one, also remember at the end of 2003 when Melbourne had agreed to trade pick 5 to Port Adelaide for Nick Stevens but he refused to come to Melbourne.
  8. With Melbourne now all but assured of picks 1 & 2 in the draft there have been several opinions on who we should take with pick 2. Early on most people were keen on Butcher, however since the U18 carnival many have now jumped on the Trengove bandwagon, myself included. Dean Bailey himself made comment that Melbourne would like to add a quality midfielder (we know Scully is ours) and a quality tall through the draft. Many are hopefull that Panos may get through to our pick 18 in the draft however what if this is not the case. Melbourne must do their homework in order to try and scope out whether Panos will still be available at pick 18 so we may obtain our desirable Scully, Trengove, Panos trifecta. Or should Melbourne potentially look at the Scully, Butcher, Jetta trifecta, this way assuring themselves of a quality tall and 2 gun midfielders. Another option may be trying to move our pick 18 higher up the order, for example Jamar (whom some have suggested may be looking to move) & pick 18 to Adelaide for pick 12? Only time will tell and I'm sure the Footy department will consider these things but I'm confident in saying and I'm sure many will agree with me that Melbourne need to make sure they are able to recruit either Butcher or Panos to go with the 2 gun midfielders, be they Scully & Trengove or Jetta that we will recruit.
  9. Surely that wouldn't be the case, wouldn't make for a good start to the alignment, and we never did that with Sandringham.
  10. If Jamar does go back home would anyone consider the notion of Jamie Charman in the PSD if he goes that way. He could give us about 3 servicable years while Meesen and Spencer continue to develop. Just a thought?
  11. I hope it's just rumor and isn't true. Although I like many don't believe Newton has a long term future at the club I would much rather us trade him for a low draft pick that we don't use then sack him mid contract, at least that way he'd have an opportunity to relaunch himself at a new club. And for the record I suspect if Newton was a much straighter kick, then many of us would feel a lot differently about him.
  12. Thanks for that KC, much appreciated. Best of luck to Casey, I think they have a real shot at going all the way even with several injuries. Appology to Trent Zomer as I forgot him from my initial list.
  13. Now that Casey are assured of finishing 5th or 6th in the finals the question will be which Melbourne based plyers will be available and eligable to play for them come finals time to hopefully secure some silver wear? Off the top of my head the players I came up with that may be available and eligable are: Buckley Bartram Miller??? Dunn Cheney Newton (if fit) McNamara Jetta??? Bail (if fit) Spencer Bennell??? Valenti Whelan (if fit) Jurrah McKenzie Not sure if I've missed anyone, and also not sure on whether Miller, Jetta or Bennell have played enough games to qualify, also will be waiting on fitness of Newton, Bail & Whelan. Anyone know if I've missed anyone or if any of the above wont be able to make a finals appearance?
  14. I'll take loosing by a point after the siren with the umpire costing us the match with a terrible decision. At least that way the Saints will know they didn't deserve to win, we'd have a nice boost of confidence for next year and picks 1 & 2 to boot!
  15. I reckon Sydney might bite. They love recycled players and he's also the type they normally go for, has pace, creates run and is a long kick. All the best Wheaters
  16. I wouldn't have thought so. If we were to get rid of Spencer that would mean we'd still have Jamar, Meesen, Johnson and Martin as ruck options, then if we rookie drafted another that would give us 5 ruck options. I can't think of to many clubs that have more then 5 ruck options in their squad?

    Robbo

Geelong, Carlton or St. Kilda I reckon. Geelong need forwards other then Stevie J and Robbo would be a perfect FF or Forward Pocket also next year very well may be the last in their premiership window. Carlton have always had knockers for not having another forward option other then Fevola so he would add something for them and they'll be pressing for a premiership in the next few years. While St. Kilda who will also press again next year have the 2 talls in Riewoldt and Koschitzke, 2 smalls in Milne and Schneider but no good medium sized forward that demands a spot. Robbo could potentially fill that void. If he were to play on I'd prefer to see him at St. Kilda. Carlton or Geelong would just be far to painful to see!
  18. Saints to beat Blues in the grand final. Blues will get there ahead of their time, just a gut feeling.
  19. Couldn't agree with you more. Unfortunatly I'd say it's because it's a Melbourne player. Bet you if Didak kicked a goal that levelled him with Daicos on Collingwood's goal kicking list there would be a half time special about it and a count down for each goal he kicked leading up. A brilliant effort by Robbo and an achievment that wasn't lost on me.
  20. Very good thread, for me we need to cut one of the ruckmen at seasons end and is a difficult decision to be made. Jamar for mine is our number one ruckmen and do not want us to loose, but if he has requested a trade to South Australia it would solve the problem. Jamar & pick 34 could land us another top 20 pick however if he wants to stay we should definatly hold onto him. This year when he's played has been his best IMO. Martin we have to keep obviously because of his versatility. He's a good back up ruckman to have in our 22 but can also go back and play in defence or go forward. A lot to like about Martin and he is the only 1 out of the 5 I wouldn't consider getting rid of. Johnson could possibly be the man to go, he will never be our number 1 ruckman but if Martin is ever injured I feel he'd be the best to bring into the 22 versatility wise. Can ruck and play forward and we've seen Bailey is trying to develop his defensive game by playing him back occassionaly. Keep for mine. Meesen at the start of this year I would have said is an automatic to be delisted at seasons end. But those 4 games he played before he got injured I thought were very impressive. He was a top 10 draft pick back in the day so obviously was deemed to be a star in the making in his junior days, could potentialy lead our ruck stocks in years to come. I say keep. Spencer has shown a bit that is true but I'm not sure he's shown enough. I know most people rated Spencer ahead of Meesen at the start of the year but Meesen has over taken him for mine. Saw Spencer still gets pushed off the ball a little to easily and although he could still develop tough decisions need to be made. Verdict: For me Spenccer's the one to be delisted however if Jamar wishes to be traded then that would be enough to save Spencer and in turn would see him promoted onto our senior list. So Spencer to be delisted or Jamar to be traded. All comes down to what Jamar wants to do.
  21. 6: Robertson 5: Jamar 4: Sylvia 3: Jetta 2: Davey 1: Bate
  22. Yes I appologise, I'll put my hand up. Wont be trusting the source that told me again that's for sure. Saw he has been named for Bullants this week also. My bad!
  23. Saw that line up in the paper. Good to see Butcher playing at FF, not to sure what's going on with Scully named at HBF?
  24. Seen him but haven't taken much notice of him. Times I've watched him hasn't done anything to catch my eye, but at the same time hasn't done anything to make me think he's no good. Honest player IMO.
