  1. I think Gerard agreed with him that David King did say it. I am not sure how reliable David King is with his information. Maybe he read Wolfmother as well
  2. This just keeps going and going. Just now Drain Russell announced that David King had said that Tom had signed along with four other players. Gerard Healey did not dismiss it and said that what was looking to be a promising year for the Demons suddenly if Tom had signed, looked likely to be problematic year instead. Did anyone else hear this.
  3. This is just so sad as she was a very generous and gregarious person. She certainly loved her football and other sports. At least it would seem that she passed quickly and that she did not have to endure too much in her final days. If I know Jill she would have had a warm smile on her face and a cheeky word to her carers. We have a lost a very special person in Jill.
  4. I presume there was a hint of sarcasm there.........."honour "
  5. This is a little of subject but I heard someone on the radio discussing the rabble that St. Kilda was becoming and that they were still looking for a major sponsor despite playing finals etc etc. He compared them to the Demons who he said which was a team that had obviously turned itself around both on a debt level and management level. He said that he was at the intra game yesterday and was amazed at the number of people around the club, in sponsors red tee shirts who were obviusly part of the club ie handing out drinks to players, giving massages etc. He felt that it was a true reflection on how far the Club has come and where it was going. That was in comparison to the Saints who at this time of year should have had a major sponsor signed up. It would seem from the comments of those at the AGM that it would now seem that the Club and its supporters now have a vitality and a single purpose. We have left the era of division. Its onward and upwards from hereon.
  6. Two points - does Brad Green want to be captain. If it is true that he may have other priorities then he may not want the extra load. Having heard Green and Frawley interviewed when they became AA's Frawley was obviously not going to be known for his speaking abilities however Brad was succinct and coherent. Also having heard Aaron talk on numerous occasions he also would make a fine spokesperson for the club. Moloney when being interviewed by Schwab about the new jumper was embarrasing to listen to. So I think it is between Green and Davey with Jack Grimes into the leadership group. (Scully an outsider into the leadership group.) When the Club chose James McD there were a few of us who almost choked on their cereal but obviously the Club knew more than what we did. Same with Neita - we were all nervous when it was announced that he was Captain because of the perceived idea that he did not speak well in public. The Club again knew more than we did. The Club will make the right decision. They have been making all the right decisions for some time now - lets just have faith in the system.
  7. Bhima - almost as good as being there. Hope Cam Johnston's handball skills are a little better than the other Cam's.
  8. That last photo with Newton in it - He needs a visit to Jenny Craig even after two weeks back he is still a fatty booom boom.
  9. God surely Brumby has now sunk to the depths of "desperateness"
  10. Also may be that Volvo has just changed hands and is now Chinese owned!! They may be rethinking all of its advertising.
  11. Bruce didn't go to China for family reasons. Does anyone know why he didn't go or has he just "cracked" it
  12. They also will be those MCC/MFC members who renewed their memberships prior to GF.
  13. When is the Rising Star Winner announced. Anyone!!!
  14. Now that Miller and Bell are gone and probably not going north who of our players will it be?
  15. I was disturbed when I read in the Age this morning that Miller would not be part of the Scorpions finals team. How can that be. After having put in for the team for practically the whole year and not be part of a possible grand final. If the Club has decided that I think it just stinks. I for one would hope that the Club is not so mean spirited and short sighted that it would not include one of the better forwards of the VFL in the finals campaign. I know, we all know that he is not part of the Club's future but allow him to play. I would have thought that a successful finals campaign would be more important to the MFC/Casey Scorpions ongoing relationship and despite Miller's not being seen as good enough to be an AFL player he has as all would agree had a great year as forward spearhead at the Scorpions. Of course all this means nothing if it was Miller's choice not to play. If that is the case, well he can take his petulance somewhere else. I am also concerned that could this mean that they maybe giving Newton ANOTHER CHANCE. Oh please NOOOOOOOO
  16. A Geeeelong insider told me that he is currently looking for a house to buy up here in Melbourne and that he is back with long time girlfriend Lauren. Read what you may into that.
  17. Using this criteria then it has to be Green for Captain. He reminds me of Junior in so many ways in patticular the way he is prepared to put his body on the line. No one will forget the game when he was knocked out and then came back on. That was surely inspirational to the team. He does fire them up and there are many times when he has the boys in a group talking to them. Vice Captains I believe have to be Davey and Moloney. Moloney because of the off field work that he does especially with the younger boys and Davey just for being Aaron and the figurehead to our indigenous boys. Bruce may be popular with the players but there has not been one occasion that stands out to me that was "inspirational" or one that shouts out leader. This maybe a little controversial but I would like to see Scully and or Grimes promoted in some way to the leadership group as well. All this obviously has no bearing on who our new captain is as Inner Demon pointed out. I go back to when Junior was voted as our next Captain and many people here including myself were wondering if he was indeed made of the necessary stuff. Well weren't we all proved wrong.
  18. Maybe the Club already knows where he is headed and maybe its Newtons farwell game (hopefully)
  19. In a previous topic (which seems to have been gone missing) I asked the question whether the Club should be doing something to celebrate his career with the Club. Surely now they should do something to allow all his fans to say goodbye. I think something like getting as many of the former players who played with him throughout his career to form a line as he comes out to lead the Club for the last time. Anybody else with any ideas.
  20. Does anyone else here think we should celebrate Jnr Macs 250th and possibly last game v North. I would like the opportunity for the Melbourne based supporters to give recognition to our Captains tenacity and leadership. Obviously not many of us can go next Sunday and it seems to me that he deserves more. Maybe the cheer squad or the Club can do something prior to the game against North.
  21. It is excruciatingly painful. His/their (Spencer also has same problem) AFL career/s would not be jeopardised just managed in a different way.
