  1. It was reported last week that Bailey and Matthews were seen having lunch then a late Cam Schwab arrived at the table. Could he be mentoring DB or what. I think Dermie is usually reasonable when he talks about Melbourne. I would like to see Dermie down at the club and talking to the players about what he meant by his comments. Not just the same old same old but bring someone in from the outside to give a more objective point of view. If someone who has nothing to gain but yet is admired (most of the time)for his own footballing abilities came in and told some of the Melbourne players (and we know who to point the finger at) that they were essentially weak well, we may get more than the platitudes that we seem to get every second week. Are we saying that the culture at Melbourne is that we accept mediocrity. That we slump back to excuses - young developmental side, injuries, lack of facilities (past). Why is it that other teams get over adversity when it happens whereas we fall back into our shell when there is the slightest sugggestion that the other team want it more than we do. Have we along with the players, for too long accepted mediocrity. Have the supporters been part of the culture at MFC. After the West Coast game I think Melbourne supporters changed. I have never seen an outpouring of demand for change. At the time it was a change of coach by some but it was more. It was more because it signalled to the Club that we no longer accepted insipid performances. In the past we felt that it was our lot in life and we got angry but never in the open, never for the other Clubs to see that we were angry. We weren't like the Collingwoods and Essendons of the football world. We didn't behave like that. We were no less passionate but we never allowed ourselves to show the Club/players that we expected more. Maybe the supporters have to take the blame to some extent and now take the lead in challenging the "culture" of the Club. Jimmy and Cam have done a great job because you could not get any two more passionate Melbourne supporters (along with Chris Connolly)but there is something wrong in the football department that cannot seem to get more than a week of passion from the players. But why is it up to the FD, why don't we have the personnel to take up the leadership on field. I want to see more of Greeny grab his jumper and tell the world and his team mates that this is why he is playing. I want to feel the stomach churning feeling that I had at MCG two weeks ago when Liam ran up to the Melbourne supporters and fist pumped. I want to see that passion that we all have here on the field. I want to see the second and third efforts, the scrambling after the ball on the ground, the crunching (legal) tackles (welcome back Jordie), the running, running and more running. I want to see the boys gather around each after each goal and do it all for each other. Dunstall unfortunately is right. The football culture has to change. The Club culture thanks to Jim already has. (I feel better now - rant over)
  2. Didnt David Jones say to the tribunal before deliberation that they should look at the charge for the action not the result (concussion). So the tribunal did the opposite because it was the "concussion" not the so call force of the tackle that resulted in the charge. I am not certain that Jack will be exonerated as the AFL have been on a mission with regard to concussion and or head injuries and what Vlad wants he gets. Jack will be made a scapegoat despite what we and the rest of the football world think. Hopefully their pound of flesh will be one game. Even that seems ludicrous. I wonder how Jack is coping with all of this. Maybe Jim should go tomorrow and vouch for Jack's saint like character.
  3. Robbo interviewed Tom on Sunday and he said that he felt he was three weeks away from playing.
  4. Interesting to see Tom on footage from the membership drive tonight, talking up new/old members.
  5. Other points which I thought were ineresting were Gary Lyon putting the heat on Morton, Jones, Sylvia (and one other, can't remember) for tweeting about the game. That now that they had put it out there that they need to back up the talk. GL doesnt believe that Bailey is under pressure because it is too early. That he has a little bit of time to get the job done. He felt that the 1st quarter last week was the worst he has seen for the year. (Not sure whether he meant for us or all games) Caro believes that Bailey has handled himself well in the media over the last three and a bit years. She was complimentary about what the Club has achieved off the field but team performance letting everyone down (She didn't mention the draft once - for a change) Caro doesnt believe that the Facebook group who are calling for Bailings sacking should be given any exposure. She called them idiots. (It was bought up by Hutchinson) Thomas felt that the team would have criteria to meet and that Bailey would be measured against how well those criteria were met. For Bailey to be reappointed th Club needs 8-10 wins. That we are a young side that will continue to develop. Bailey is a good developmental coach but he is not sure that he is the right leader for the football club. I liked GL getting stuck into Hutchy and called him a muckraker and it looked like it was getting ugly until Caroline stepped in. Gary didnt seem to like Hutchy's inference that Jim wasn't well enough for the interview. That he didnt sound well eonough but was unsure if he was just low after the teams performance. There is obviously still support for Bailey from the inner sanctum at Melbourne going by Gary's comments. Not sure about a supposed split but who would know unless you were from within that group. If the team played again like last week I am not sure if Gary's support for Bailey would be so forthcoming.
  6. If anyone is going to the Norm Smith night in June please give us a review. I presume (hope) that this footage is shown on the night. I wonder. I'M MELBOURNE, ...I'M MELBOURNE THROUGH AND THROUGH
  7. Channel 9 News were quoting Demonology supporters quotes. Surely the Club has to respond and the players have to be feeling the heat. If not there is no hope.
  8. This is the very thing that Jim has fought so hard to get rid of ie the them and us division in the Club. We all support the Club in one way or another. Just because someone is louder than someone else doesn't mean we dont all bleed the same way for the Club.
  9. There are real supporters in the MCC - surprise surprise
  10. Only repeating what Ox and Dr. Turf said. I would hope that the Club listens to its supporters but equally or maybe more if diehard Melbourne supporters or ex players in the Media start to criticize the Club then I would hope that we will see action from the Club. I will be interested how heavy Gary Lyon weighs in on Monday night.
  11. Listening to the comments all day on SEN was absolutely heartbreaking. We are seen as a joke. The football team has made the Club a laughing stock of the league. If we do not beat Adelaide and take a stand we will be seen by the rest of the league as the easybeats - move over "Suns". I want to hear more than mere platitudes from Dean Bailey. I want to hear and feel that the whole team is devastated. Comments from Jones and Garland and seeing the look on Nathans face when the siren went tells me that at least he is ashamed. This afternoon Dr.Turf and the Ox said that Bailey said in 2008 that the Club needed to replicate Geelong's game plan but Geelong has since said that they needed to change their game plan to compete with the likes of Coll ....(I cant even type it)They both agreed that Melbourne hasn't changed their "Game plan" For Greeny to say publicly that the way to beat the press is to kick over their heads. Did someone forget to tell the forwards that they need to be there when the kick comes or at least attempt to be there. FFS DO SOMETHING
  12. Obviously it was the "baby poo" brown tracky dacks that did it
  13. Ah yes , but you would never get "spell check" on a Collingwood forum.
  14. There are obviously a few on here who are in the "misery phase"
  15. Just heard who I think will be a future leader of our Club - Jack Viney. He spoke amazingly for a 16 year old and more importantly said how much it would make his Dad proud if he played with the "Dees". I loved the way he talked about the Club as the "dees". It made me feel that he already feels part of the Club.
  16. There was a discussion on SEN on Friday re Garry Lyon being interested in coaching the dees. The discussion centred around the last time this topic came up it was generally agreed that Garry left the door slightly ajar and now there is enough money in coaching for him to be lured away from Channel 9 (although it all might change if they get the TV rights)Just imagine scenes aka Saint James at Essendon. I would prefer that this topic wasn't discussed with any fervour as at this stage I don't think we need anything to send of us the rails. I wonder if one Tom Scully would be more tempted to stay if Garry was the coach.
  17. Watts back to Casey. Petterd in. Bennell sub to blast them in the last quarter. Anyone know a long range weather forecaster.
  18. That was not the reason why Tom was not on the trip
  19. If the Club deems that Bailey needs to be replaced I would prefer Roos if available.
  20. I remember you saying exactly this. Did you know something we all didnt "know" or was it because of the type of injury. Even the Club is saying that it is an uncommon injury.
  21. I noticed that Pettard is not playing for Casey. Could it be a late change or was he injured and that is why he was dropped!
  22. Nah, he should get his money back because it didnt work. He was so intent on no one knowing that he had "treatment".
  23. I couldn't stomach waiting for the team to walk off today but I heard that Bailey kept them on the ground. Could someone describe Bailey's reaction to the group. Was it his usual calm approach or please tell me that he laid into them. How long did he keep them out there.
