  1. Am i the only person here who thinks we need to trade in some experience instead of trading away all our experienced players. Personally im not sure how we expect to develop all our young talented players to anywhere near there full potential. Who does Watts have to look up to and to teach him to be a better player, Robbo? Miller? This is our main problem its no wonder Newton has not improved over the last few years. He has had no-one to guide him and to learn from. Listening to the young Carlton #1 picks talk the other day and they all say how much they have learned and been helped along by guys like Judd, Stevens and even Scotland. Who do we have to pass on there knowledge and help players like Grimes, Morton, Dunn and Bate to reach there full potential? Coaches can only do so much as the game style changes so quickly. It makes no sense thinking that Mcdonald, Bruce and co aren't going to be of our next Premiership so they are of no use to the club. The younger guys need older experienced guys to look up too. Watts would learn so much playing next to and trying to gain the respect from a club legend like Neitz and this is what we are lacking and all the high draft picks in the world cant change that.
  2. Almost 50% higher than the round 2 clash with collingwood. Considering the weather id say a good crowd.
  3. The teams been good without winning until this game so i think making massive changes will further erode the groups confidence in themselves and others. Pj made some terrible blunders and needs to either go or be given one more game to prove he can make a decision. Mclean or McDonald are both carrying an injury and we cant afford two slow midfielders not at 100% Out PJ Mcdonald In Newton Dunn
  4. Main positives for me was that hopefully Watts learned he isnt up to it yet, and being the number 1 pick makes it harder not easier to play at this level. Ensuring he works harder on the track and takes nothing for granted. Sylvia also a few good games in a row but now he will draw attention from opposition coaches and have to lift agian to have the same impact.
  5. If Leigh Brown can catch Watts to snipe him he will be no great loss.
  6. Forgot the BOM Jack will part the clouds above the MCG and ensure the sun is shining brightly.
  7. Gumbleton perhaps should of been overlooked so early due to injuries but hopefully for him he can still turn it around. Possibly the guy from Collingwood with glass shoulders too.
  8. There is also a small article on Butcher in the Sunday Herald Sun with Butcher saying he doesnt want to play for a team that tanks to get him. Hmmm..... he must mean West Coast no one else would think of doing that this year.
  9. It would have to be a close win against Carlton. With Meesen (who no-one else had faith in) and either Spencer or Johnson absolutely carving up Kruezer who they tanked for and Warnock who was seduced by there dirty money and false delsuions of grandeur. Moloney for Captain to erase the hurt of missing out on Geelongs success. Morton for Norm Smith as final insult to their tanking.
  10. Rance shows no fear and runs straight at the ball with his head down. Credit to him its certainly brave but he may just have to watch it in future. 2 facial injuries in a handful of games isnt a good start.
  11. Lets be take this poll for what it is absolute rubbish. I know if there was a poll Should Collingwood and Essendon merge, or any other teams apart from Melbourne in a poll for mergers i would vote yes.
  12. Jamar, Garland and now Meesen. Does anyone think this could be as a result of starting pre-season so much earlier last year? I know the training staff monitor the players so well now, so maybe it is just bad luck. I also think the younger bodies (which is most of our list) will tire in the second half of the season due to the earlier start. All looks good for the priority pick though. Shocking news for Meese but he at least got the chance to prove he is good enough to consider persisting with.
  13. "if you're not part of the club your opinion doesn't matter to us" Maxwell needs to use say this as often as possible as most people outside the club see him as nothing but a below average player. Although enough about Collingwood Im sick to death of hearing about them. For weeks they were going on about Rocca coming back and when he does he just proves that he is another below average player.
  14. http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tab...11/default.aspx Hopefully he has been so focused on training he hasnt had time to notice the little things like elections and his on field contributions will soon match his off field skills.
  15. Interesting that White says it was a good long term move to cut the older blokes like himself. I realise it was for the best but still feel Melbourne treated White quite badly in the end. He rejected the big offer from Collingwood to stay true to Melbourne and we in return showed him no loyalty. Although he obviously sees the big picture that the club is bigger than the individual and has no hard feelings.
  16. Maybe we should trade him to the tigers for Tambling. Change of scenery might do them both some good.
  17. Top draftee faces spectre of jail time One high-profile Victorian club is very angry at one of its star draftees. And it’s not over something trivial like a push and shove in a bar or nightclub. It is alleged that the star recruit was involved in a gang invasion of a house where baseball bats and machetes were used. It happened in his home state before last year’s draft and my contacts in that state tell me the courts have been extremely harsh in judging similar cases. He is likely to be charged with assault and in all probability may go to jail. One insider at the club told me that if the club had known “we would have gone down a different track and recruited someone else”. Maybe the AFL should demand full disclosure form draftees in future. It would be pretty crook if you were to draft somebody and he was to suddenly say “I’ll see you in 18 months when I get out”. http://insidefootballonline.com/crackers.html
  18. I saw an article on the new gold coast team targetting ablett and riewoldt as recruits. Down the bottom it mentioned a few others from the GOld Coast that would be targeted and Petterd was named. If they do target him what are our chances of keeping him and how much would losing him hurt the teams development.
  19. Thompson also tried to trade Steve Johnson but couldnt find any takers. He obviously rated him as a player just didnt like his attitude. Player skill isnt always the reason for trades.
  20. Seems to me that Kaspersky coming on board will be great for both parites. I know personally i would of been reluctant to use a Russian company for internet security. Not really sure why as its not like theres anything ive got that is worth protecting but now i will ditch my old provider and sign up this week. Great work by all involved. Hopefully Kaspersky will become #1 in Australia soon.
  21. I joined this league but it isnt going to work well unless we fill it up. Come on people it doesnt take to long to pick a team get on board.
  22. Melbourne could do a sponsorship deal with Pacific Brands. Would certainly get Melbourne some front page news exposure which would be a good thing for the club. Plus Melbourne already has some links with China.
  23. I wasnt happy when he walked out but now couldn't care less. If CJ couldnt get a regular game last year with the state Melbourne were in then i think it was in his best interest to move on and wish him all the best. I think we has handy last night for the blues and deserves a chance to be in there best 22. In the end it i hope its a win for him having a long career with Carlton and a win for Melbourne picking up Jarah. I am still very dirty on Scott Thompson leaving the club i love the way he plays his footy and he would be real asset on and off the field which is what we need. Anyone remember who or what we got for him?
  24. Ive never posted before but joined the third league. Hope its ok if not let me know and i can leave.
