  1. Would only make the league more imbalanced. The West Coasts and Collingwoods of the league already have an advantage due to spending massive amounts more on recruiting, coaching and development. (They can afford too though so good on them in that regard) You think a few bucks would make the pp look any less enticing to West Coast. Might make a few meaningless wins enticing for the struggling clubs like North and Us however and forever trapping us into mediocrity.
  2. Saints are undefeated and going to finish top of the ladder.. nothing to report there Stkilda and Geelong are the only teams that can win the Premiership.. nothing to report there Top 8 is almost set.. little to report there There is very little else going on atm they need to fill space and sell papers. Lovett-Murray will take the attention away from us now. So a big thank-you to him.
  3. What effect will all this talk have on the players morale? I think it could go either way for them. They might just prove to have the killer instinct that we want them too. They could say to each other bugger the Media and bugger the coaching staff we alone can put this tanking talk to bed by going out playing good footy and winning two more games. Or it could go the other way and they could think well even our club doesn't want us to win why bother busting our gut all week at training and putting our bodies on the line game day. Either way football is fickle and come finals time no-one will care about tanking and come round1 and even pre-season next year the players will have forgotten about all this and will be doing there all to improve individually and collectively.
  4. Would i still find him strangely attractive?
  5. Malthouse said he is our best clearance player so therefore he should play in the midfield the whole game without a break or we may get accused of tanking. Seriously chappy is one of my fave players and so is Jones. (i hope i don't develop a thing for little bald men) Would love him to become a goal kicking free roaming forward. Although 2 weeks ago i thought he might be a good Lingy style tagger so clearly i have no idea.
  6. If you listen to all of Voss's comments and not just the parts the media play over and over it wasn't actually bad. He said he still believes that no coaching or football departments actually goes there to try and lose. They just put long term gains as a higher priority than short term. Where as teams trying to make the 4 or 8 or win the grand final put winning first and player development and safety second. The AFL doesn't expect teams in our position to risk jeopardizing a players future. Where as players and their teams like Egan and Croad were happy to risk long term injuries chasing a flag. I haven't heard what Malthouse said but everyone knows he would do exactly the same thing in Bailey's position. Coach for the long term future of the club. Andy Maher? Who? I'd be happy for every other AFL team to hate Melbourne with a passion. Means we are doing things right and they have a reason to fear us.
  7. Just because you get PP doesn't mean your team tanked. It is possible to get PP because you really are that far behind the competition and need them. Swans and Lions have had higher salary caps which no doubt helps them as well.
  8. I don't think you can be overly concerned about things like that. You have to pick the best player. I would seriously question someones intelligence though if they wanted to get to Richmond that badly. Maybe he isn't smart enough to be an elite player.
  9. I wouldn't say its tough barreling into a guy taking a mark from behind. Players have to be very careful doing this now anyway 1/2 a second too late and they will get a lengthy holiday. Which Miller really can't afford atm.
  10. Has played a lot of basketball which should help with his peripheral awareness. His beep test was down on AFL elite athletes, but not too far behind that he couldn't make it up. Im already looking forward to seeing how he goes and i think the AFL are hoping so s most of west sydney.
  11. If Trengove is clearly the #2 then we have little chance of picking him. West Coast are tanking hard and aren't even trying to hide it. http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sport/afl...2-19742,00.html Article in the actual paper had a list of 10 very questionable moves that West Coast made. Mostly in the last quarter. The players aren't tanking though so hopefully they can put one over Worsfold and win a game as they have 3 very winnable games ahead. Melbourne getting the PP doesn't give us an advantage it just puts us on a level playing field. (Thats still not really level when you consider the draw and the amount some clubs spend on coaching and development)
  12. Great move by the AFL. He is probably on par with Nick Nat atm got the athleticism but not the knowledge for the game. Would be as tough as nails id hate to see what would happen if he caught a guy Blease. Would break more than just his leg.
  13. I'd hardly say playing out the season is chasing personal glory and individual records. He is a dual Premiership player, b&f winner and former captain. Must be tough too he has only missed 7 games through his career. Wouldn't be an unworthy record holder by any means. Bradman's record has been broken now anyway.
  14. Did i hear him say he didn't want to be the club games record holder? If so Pathetic he has earned it should take it with pride.
  15. Wasn't long ago Josh Hunt dogged it in a marking contest. He came under a lot uf scrutiny but answered it by being harder than ever. Wouldn't doubt his courage now. Good lesson to be learnt early on.
  16. Is Morton running around with Goodes all day? Would absolutely love Morton to become the next Goodes.
  17. Totally Agree. Hodge is Finished.
  18. Agreed my mate is a [censored]. However i'd say loyalty to your family takes precedence over loyalty to Carlton. Another rule is you don't make your own nickname. Although Jurrah is proud of his people so everybody accepts his self proclaimed nickname. Moral of the story when Jurrah is involved all rules are out the window. Including the laws of Gravity.
  19. Stuff the pies RudeBoy jump on board the Demons there is plenty of room. Good mate of mine was a Carlton man then his brother got drafted by the roos and he jumped on board. No-one questioned his character. His brother was delisted without playing a game and he is still to this day a Roos member. The heart wants what the heart wants.
  20. Much rather let Freo take the spoon and we will take the #1 pick thanks. DO SOMETHING NAITANUI
  21. Any 1 watching the game. I cant afford foxtel. Would like to know is worsfold is shuffling his players around and acting fishy.
  22. Stupid thing about tanking in the media is it only started once we won 2 games in a row. Im sure injuries are all legit though Back injuries are one of few injuries that wont show up on scans. Frawley and Jetta are in career best from i doubt they would want to mess with that unless they were genuinely injured.
  23. Haselby and Tarrant both possibly missing should help the Eagles accidently get over the line.
  24. Johnson should come back in and take the kick outs to 'build his confidence with decision making.'
  25. I hope some people on here watched Richmond blow a 7 goal lead yesterday. For all you calling for all the older players such as Robbo and Bruce to be delisted this is what will happen to us without them. Richmond were too young and simply didn't know how to win the game. They had North beaten but stopped taking risks and started to try and save the game instead of taking the game on an winning it. They needed at least 1 of Bowden, Richo or Cousins out there to steady the ship. Melbourne will be in a worse position than Richmond next year as our younger players have rarely played in a winning side. How many winning games have Morton and Grimes played in? Despite there flaws our older players have played in good sides that win games. They are the sort of leaders we need next year. Im happy to lose all our remaining games this year but next year we will need old heads to guide our young chargers to victory. The younger guys and not the older ones will win the games for us but they need the direction and leadership from the experienced players.
