Already a compo thread guys...

So we have swapped Byrnes for Rivers and received pick 49 for Beemer. Something is out of whack there. But we were overcompensated for $$cully so I guess they are applying the 'swings and roundabouts' rule (retrospectively of course). The fact we were a bottom side probably didn't help altho Port did well .....hmmmmm...

In Swahili it does. Best news I've had all day!

I would hope that 2013 sees Neeld with a team that want and can play to his game plan. Everyone will have a role, must be flexible, accountable and competitive one on one. Neeld clearly didn't like our senior players. Can't say I blame him (given their results)
-
OK thanks. Seems both parties were pretty happy to go their separate ways......
-
So why did JR leave? Didn't like MNeeld? MNeeld didn;t like JR? Or just time for a change?? Anyone know??
-
Might as well write off 2013 for him then because according to plenty here he is unable to play a decent game without a full pre-season. And by the end of 2013 he will be out of contract...

Any word on Dawes knee injury from the finals?? Did he have surgery? Or was it simply a strain?? Haven't seen anything written about it..... -

Interesting comparison. Particularly the versatility of Dawes - hitouts, tackles and even goals scored. Looks good for us. -

But the second mouse gets the cheese... -
When was the last time we beat the Dogs?? We have only beaten two Victorian teams since the end of 2007
-
And lets not forget it would have cost us $800k pa to keep him as well.....
-
He apparently tweeted that he has started skipping and the physios are happy with his progress..

Just reviewing our mids and re-read this on Taggert who has yet to play a game 187cm 85kgs Taggert is a strong midfielder who recorded a 14.8 beep test at the Draft Combine and was rated third in the vertical leap and in the top 10 for the clean hands test. Is a good athlete and penetrating kick but will need time to adjust to the pace and pressures of AFL football. The Horsham product moved to St Pat’s College Ballarat in his final year of school to play for the North Ballarat Rebels. If he can get his body right he could fit right in there with Viney, Pick 4, Grimes, Howe, Jones, Trengove, Jordie etc -
The reality bus is with us. We cannot have another year at the bottom, It's simple. We will be a basket case if that happens. We need to get competitive and quickly. Neeld has clearly decided the cattle he has contains glaring weaknesses. And there was no senior leadership at the club. He wasn't going to get stuck with someone else's list. Might as well get shot for his own list that he has control over and who will do what he wants. For that I applaud him. Free agency means we have an opportunity to dramatically reshape our list in a way that was not available previously. Its not quite North Melbourne circa 1975 but it has similarities. We wil be a dramatically different team in 2013 and that is a good thing. Whether that means we will pay for it in 4 years time because we lack young talent coming through is something I can live with now. I can't do another year like 2012. I'd give it away I reckon.

Anyone lese concerned about our mids?? I assume that we will tale a mid with pick 4 and Howe will spend more time in the midfield but geez we need some quality clearance players otherwise Clark and Dawes will get frostbite...... -
New ruck rule would indicate Grundy is a lock in for a top 3 pick from GWS.
-
Looks like Grundy is a lock in for pick 3 from GWS. At 202cm hard to go past.

The following is an update from the HS: Clint Bartram's ongoing experimental knee surgery is still being monitored, while Jamie Bennell's knee reconstruction is progressing well and it is hoped he will be available early in 2013. Max Gawn's knee is fully healed and he's right for a full pre-season, as is Aaron Davey (foot). Cale Morton (shoulder) will be on a modified program until Christmas, while key forward Mitch Clark is progressing well with his foot injury. Jack Fitzpatrick has had a post-season ankle "cleanout". Good news re Gawn and Davey. God help us though. Cale has had ANOTHER "injury interrupted pre-season" and so will underperform again next year. They'll probably sign him for a further 2 years on the back of that just so that we can see what he is really like when he eventually gets a full pre season. After all Miller was gifted 130 games so Cale has a way to go.....
-
Are you sure thats right? Can't he play for us a an 18yo??
-
I'd do Sylvia and Morton for Pick 2.

OK star is a bit overs but he would be a very handy player for them. His cameos would likely be more frequent when surrounded by Lynch and CLoke and with him not taking a decent defender, Just sayin.. -

They were mostly back-ended contracts. Unfair comparison.
