He has evaluated the list and he is now moulding it to his own design. The media wouldn't have a clue whether Gysberts was doing what he was asked or otherwise. Ditto Martin and all the other de-listed players. I'm happy he's making his own changes and not listening to popular opinion. He doesn't seem to mind if he isn't popular. Results count.

9 Players now gone from the 22 that 'represented the club' in Rd 19, 2011. They are Gys, Bate, Moloney (did not get a stat!), Rivers, Petterd, Martin, Maric, Jurrah, Green. Interestingly three of those players (Gys 11, Rivers 10 and Martin 10) were the only players to have 10 kicks or more Finally someone is ruthless. Go Dees. Go Neeld.

No Dawes is on a bigger contract at the Dees. We are paying it.

We have three undisputed top 10 players (altho 1 won't start until next year). No other club aside from GWS has that. (Assumption: pick 4 is a jet - Cale, I know I know) We have brought in hard bodied, experienced, competitive players - 3 with premiership experience. We have a speculative (arent they all?) mid second round pick in Dom Barry We have lost Moloney (meh), Rivers (could hurt), Green, Martin, Morton, Gysberts. Green has retired so doesnt count. Rivers might hurt but we have seen his best. The others we have lost nothing. All in all we have re-shaped our list completely and there is still delisted player draft to come.

The alternative is this. We stuff around and hold out for a better deal. It doesn't get done and we get forced into paying pick 3 for Viney and maybe do the Byrnes deal. How is 2 or 3 minor deals change our fortunes next year. Natural improvement? Or do you think a swag of draft picks is going to turn us around?? (I think we have been there before..) Our club is in a dire position. Another year like 2012 and we would be really stuffed. We simply can't afford that and must start winning some games. Its mind numbingly clear we have young players but have few leaders and little experience. Now we have. Enjoy 2013 worrying about how Morton is doing at WCE or martin at Brisbane.

That would say more about Brisbane than us.
