Wow.. Just wow. A great feel good story. Hope it galvanises and inspires the team. We need his leadership.

Or he could have been simply ill.......

Good grief. You pathetic grub. Lots of people get slammed for it. Luke Shuey for starters.
-
Sadly I think you are right....

This is the game last year when the hawks were 100 pts up and Clarkson sent and extra man in defence so we couldn't score. he is a competitive beast and that's what we need to become.. We need to break this hoodoo and deliver some pain to this team that has treated us like their biatch for a long time.
-
With a leaky, unsettled defence it won't be pretty.
-
Apparently we did focus on it. Not that you'd know... I was brought to my attention that we have a significant number of new players from 3 years ago when Roos started but seriously we have a system that is not working as it should. Is it personel? Is it the midfield not winning? Is it effort falling away? There is no question that we have a fragile defence. Wagner is new - promising but turns it over a lot (not Terlich-esq but enough to worry); Hunt is new, Salem is still learning defence, Oscar Mac is new and not yet up to it, Tom Mac has a two significant flaws in his game with disposal and decision making, Garland is not up to it, Dunn it would seem is out of favour. We have no rock down there. And the game plan doesn't seem to allow for one on one defending meaning that too often we have Jetta defending against Reiwoldt etc.

Nothing wrong with his analysis. Unusual for a journo. Must be a long suffering melbourne supporter.............. Our defence is a massive worry for mine.

Have said it for a while but our defence is a mess. We haven't fixed it. The players either can't do what they are supposed to do or they haven't bought into it. Interesting that Beveridge can get his team playing a system in a summer, so can Brendan Bolton, so can Alan Richardson. We struggle after 3 years. Under our 'plan' you have to win contested ball, deliver to a team mate and have run and spread. It breaks down when we don't win the contest. The defensive system looks a shambles when it doesn't work as can be readily seen in our poor losses. When guys like Jetta are continually having to run back and defend against the likes of Reiwoldt etc something is very wrong. We are short on talent in our back half. The McDonalds have endeavour but poor skills, Wagner does a lot of good things but also a lot of bad, Hunt tries hard and is growing, Garland is past it for me, Dunn seems to not be playing to instructions hence he is not getting a game, Salem has skills but has been shown up in a lot of one-on-one contests. Too much is being left to too few. We are short in the footy smarts department in our defence and it will be found out in the next 4 weeks
-
Dunn it would seem is not playing to instructions. Plus the footy dept might be keen to play tomorrow's players to develop them... Having said that Oscar has a lot of work to do. Far too early to write him off but gee he looks a long way from it at this stage to me

Suppose they won a premiership and nobody came ? Or cared?
-
There is no dropping the ball rule. Hasn't been for years. its incorrect disposal
-
I just don't get why people have been defending garland for so long.....he was once an OK defender but hasn't been for a long time
-
Frost is picked in defence for Casey. Maybe they are finally going to try him there.....
-
Don't tell C & B that .
-
Yeah it can . Get over it, He is contracted to the end of 2017. Take a Bex and have a good lie down.

Is that like rope burn?

Who is likely to move into Goodwin's seat at years end?

Not sure you read his post,. Suggest you do and feel free to decipher it..... -
Not only that but there are hundreds of people on Demonland with a better diagnosis than the club doctors.......!!
-
Not necessarily. We have a good track record against EFC and would have performed well against a full strength side I reckon. Its entirely possible, in fact correct if you listen to the utterings from the club after the loss, that we took them too easily because they were undermanned. They on the other hand were playing one of the teams that every team thinks they can beat and lifted accordingly. Similarly with St Kilda. We clearly didn't give any credit to Reiqoldt and let him run around by himself to take 14 marks and kick 3 goals. Maybe the pre-game planning was around how to exploit a vulnerable Nick Reiwoldt rather than treat him as he deserved to be treated. 5% off your mental game can mean a massive difference and we have shown many times that when we are favourites or when an opposition is weakened we typically lose. Wouldn't have thought I need to explain that to you.
-
Unlike you I hope Jesse doesn't have 300 beers after the Melbourne victory........:)
-
I don't have a problem with that reference for Zac Dawson...
-
Because we couldn't beat Essendon in a pre-season game with a team full of top-ups and we couldnt beat them in a home and away game with a team full of top ups. We have played a lot of teams over the years where a key opposition player has been out and it hasn't changed the result one bit. Or someone comes in and plays a blinder like Blake fricken Acres. Or someone who is injured like Nick Reiwoldt who delays his leg amputation by one week so he can come and torment the Demon supporters. Just sayin....

Nice theory but Hawthorn and the Bulldogs would dispute that I am guessing....
