Preseason Training - Week commencing 11/12/17
jnrmac replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
We know he is a developing player. He can be very frustrating to watch and that its part and parcel of developing players. But I see mostly what STMJ sees. A player that doesn't have any special attributes and doesn't do anything particularly well. He is largely in for his height IMO and I maintain that if we had alternatives he would be learning his craft at Casey, not in the senior team. And you can't deny (although some will try (hi Binman)) that we were 18th for one on one contests in our defensive 50 and 18th for opposition scores from defensive 50 entries. When Nev and Hibberd are AA defenders that doesn't leave too many others to point the finger at. Others think he will make it, I don't. But I barrack for the Dees and I hope he does. It would be a great story and I would be glad to eat humble pie. -
Don't like this at all. 3 people deliberating on the tribunal doesn't inherently lead to inconsistency. If any of the three can make a decision then I could see how that leads to onconsistency but I assume they reach agreement on penalties or otherwise.

Port Closer than Dees to a Flag says Jack Watts
jnrmac replied to Engorged Onion's topic in Melbourne Demons
If Watts had learned anything in 9 years it would have been to not answer a question like that. Or answer it diplomatically "I'm excited by what Port can do and hope to help them win a flag" or some such drivel. -

If you get rid of a negative that's a positive. Just sayin.. -

Really? Nah, maybe Rockliff. Remember they had a dream run with injuries. Probably won't happen again. -

The better question would be "why aren't Melbourne closer to a flag Jack?" "What did you do to move them closer?" -

Yeah but you do bang on about it.... -
For those apologists who believe Melbourne don't 'deserve' equalisation money from the AFL or Friday night/prime time exposure, this is how it manifests itself. Any sane sponsor would rather back a team that is constantly in prime time getting valuable media exposure. This includes playing finals. So Melbourne is to blame for parts of thios equation but the AFL has created a massive ueven playing field with their 'fixtures' that discriminate so heavily against teams. Add to this the rank stadium deals where teams like Geelong and West Coast get 100% of corporate box revenue, stadium advertising, a good clip of food and beverage spend etc then you see why the Dees are at such a disavantage to other clubs..

Glad you can tell that from the short footage. Who was positioning themselves and what was the other player doing? -

The video of Oscar and lever was the opposite .... -
I have always rated ANB. Early on, his ability to get to the drop of the ball was impressive as was his ability to get on the end of a chain of possessions to score. He looks to have improved his two way running and seems to feel more comfortable in the team which I suspect is adding to his improved performance. Not every player in a good side is a superstar. ANB can be a vital part of our midfield in time.

Might be of interest to some here.... Matt Febey last weekend won the A grade golf championship at the National Golf Club at Cape Schanck on the Mornington Peninsula. He won the match play event 2 & 1... Clearly a very handy golfer....

Yep. In the Bluey Oscar averaged 2.5 votes out of 10 in the games he played last year. They know exactly where Oscar is at.
