This is overated. The Kennel was a mess: lost their coach, captain, CEO and a few others in a short space of time. No one wanted to be there. Beveridge turned it around very quickly but the reality is they made the finals and had a fantastic September. Have been ordinary since then. This talk of 'McCartney being the genius behind the dog's flag' is rubbish. Yes he takes credit for developing some of their junior players but he was not liked down there and couldn't get them winning regularly. The raps on him at Melbourne have been good but maybe there is some friction there with Goody seeing him interfering beyond his role. Or maybe things were simply working better when McC was on the bench. Who knows? But what I do know is I hate seeing our name in the press for this stuff. It reeks of disharmony and when added to the pre-season camp stuff, that should NEVER have gone outside and should have been handled in-house, it worries me that things aren't rosy. Then when you see clear disfunction on the field it starts to smell more....

Oscar came equal 18th in the B&F with Pederson and played 5 more games. The talk on here about Oscar improving out of sight and being our key defender is hilarious. He has played OK this year and hasn't disgraced himself at all but he is still a deer in the headlights, has little or no physical presence or awareness, cannot compete one on one, is slow with the turning circle of the titanic and rarely impacts a contest. His disposal is pretty good and that is about his best trait. Yes he is developing and that is great. As a melbourne supporter I want him to succeed but it will be a long slow process at this rate.

You misunderstand what STMJ said. He said there is a reason some players draw ire from supporters. It doesn't come from thin air. Are you seriously trying to compare Lever with Oscar because they are the same age? I have heard everything. I suspect in the past we held on to the ball for too long or did a stupid number of hot potato handballs and allowed other teams to pressure us with tackles. Hence we now move the ball on pretty quickly.

Good summary. Think this aligns with my previous posts where we are getting the ball in quickly to our fwd line but it is bouncing out fast and transitioning into our defence quickly. It all stems from our clearance and contested work where we are winning and getting the ball into our outnumbered fwd line quickly. Our transition from defence (last for rebound 50s) possibly is down to Hibberd being less effective (or tagged) and guys like Hunt having poor starts to the year. It could also be that the defence is unsettled with new personnel and changes to style. It was a clear negative for us last year, particularly in one on ones and allowing opp'n to score from an i50 entry (we were last in both categories last year..) Our game style looks more like Dean Bailey but with better talent. I think the plan is a work in progress with our ability to score quickly being very good but our allowing other teams to score quickly not so good. We also have a better spread of contributors that is harder to negate Gawn is having a huge effect on our fortunes and with better team efficiency and composure generally we can be a contender.

This drug has been in use for years. I can't recall exactly but it was something like women's issues in the uterus. This is simply a use they have discovered like - oh, it takes away hip and knee pain as well? Great let's try it on athletes. Hardly dangerous stuff. Motherhood garbage. There are so many holes in that statement its not funny. Capitalism isn't perfect. But its a far better system of organisation than any other I can think of that has been tried before. All that is happening at the moment is that the education system isn't teaching the young about the good achievements of western civilisation or the reality of socialism and communism and people like bernie Sanders, jeremy Corbyn, Richard di natale come along offering them 'free stuff'. It sounds appealing to the naive and then you end up with China, Cuba, or Venezuela. Beofre you know it 100m people have been slaughtered as happened last century.

Sorry but I can't let this slide. This kind of BS gets trotted out out all the time. What does it mean exactly? Did you know that in 2000 the UN set a goal to eradicate global poverty by 2030. And the amount of poverty in the world has reduced by 50% since 2000? By any measure this is an unbelievable achievement in history. But no, the doomsayers claim that inequality is rising and the gap between wealthy and poor is rising....I dispute that but even if it was the case, poverty is being eradicated which is actually a better outcome. And I'll give you a tip for free, this has been done through capitalism. Celebrate some good in the world.
