Jake Lever.. Can someone explain??
Sorry but I can't abide this argument that somehow Goody was a genious and we recruited for a game plan and then lo and behold we were completely flumoxed by an AFL rule change. I don't buy it. It's pathetic and yet another excuse for our mentally fragile midgets.

You do understand that we can't afford players in the team that apply zero defensive pressure?

Jack Viney Restricted Free Agent
If this is our decision it would be a mistake of the highest order. I understand he can be a bit polarising and he has some limitations but he a bull that needs to be used better. He is in the mould of Selwood but with less polish. If he can add some calmness to his game and be more measured with his decision making he could be one of the outstanding players in the comp These players are not a dime a dozen, they are incredibly rare. And while his shortcomings are well known to us here with better coaching and direction he could explode. Maybe they have already tried that, maybe he doesn't listen but I wouldn't be happy with him leaving until we explored every last avenue to help him become a better player. Eveyr player has limitations and we have to work out how to work with what Viney has, not what he doesn't have. I am of the view the he and Oliver don't work effectively together as they are both 'see ball get ball' players that get in theirs and others way often. I think we have a coaching problem with our midfield and this needs to be fixed asap. We have gone from being #1 in clearances to being an also ran. That to me is all on the coaching panel and the confusion of how we are trying to play.

Irrelevant and looking for excuses. The ground you play at doesn't disguise the effort last night 203 Uncontested posessions to 98 Our boys don't like to run, chase, cover their man or get back to help the defenders. But gee we're great at guarding grass. Lazy and dumb. getting back from the man on the mark, not being on the goal line when someone is having a shot. Stupid 50m penalties, falling into the back of someone on the ground. 1m handballs to stationary players, 4 players flying for a mark. But its the ground we play at thats the problem. The supporter base should demand more from these pea hearts.- Welcome to Demonland: Bayley Fritsch
Fritsch is EVERYTHING that is wrong with the MFC Has talent. When he came in at first he was a breath of fresh air. He has now been Melbournised. Played out of position. Refuses to apply pressure or lay tackles. He's monumentally soft. Leads to the deep pockets on the wrong side. Has lost his skills - FFS he kicked the ground last night! - his goal kicking has fallen off the cliff, he's lazy. And to top it off he's dumb. IN a week where the focus was on little things he was dropped for being late for training. Drinks his own bathwater. This is where lack of leadership at the club comes into it. Who is driving standards that would turn a natural footballer like Fritsch into a top line player? If we have to wait 6 years like Trac to hit unleash their talent or 8 yrs like Max is it any wonder we are a pizzpoor footyclub? We need ruthless alright. We need a Voss a Hodge or a Johnno Brown to start kicking freckles.- POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Fremantle

It has been obvious since 2017 Goodwin can't coach. we lucked out with 4 good games in 2018 after being soundly beaten by the Swans in Rd 21. Hopefully there'll be many apologies forthcoming now for the bile that was spilled at those who could plainly see how hopeless he was. People laughed at the Camp but the decision of the players to go the AFLPA was a disgrace and showed the lack of leadership at the club. And a real knock on Goodwin. Sadly we didn't take his resignation at that point. And in the crunch games we repeatedly stunk it up with poor efforts and zero footy smarts. Poor scores kciking wi th the wind, trying to play champagne football in the soaking wet like tonight, no one standing on a goal line for a 50m shot on goal. Under 12 stuff. People excused 2019 but it wasn't an abberation. The same old problems and lack of cohesion, game plan, etc were obvious. This year there is simply no excuse. We were the fittest we had ever been, had a full list to choose from, played every team once and just stank it up repeatedly. The players dont buy the game plan. They're confused and have no idea what to do with ball in hand and no idea what to do when they don't have the ball. Its not that hard. We got beaten the same way too many times, Chip kick keepings off, switch play, sit on the outside and pressure the ball carrier and they'll turn it over with handball. Rinse and repeat. We have talent and a good coach would get this team humming. Goodwin aint it.- POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Fremantle
